Post Zelda Game Accompanying Zapper (NintendoLife)

Zelda Game Accompanying Zapper

Details emerge on the software bundled with the Wii Zapper peripheral.

Remember when the 'Wii Zapper' was announced at E3? The attachment for the Wiimote that transforms it in to gun, similar to the Zapper made for NES. It was said there would be a training game of sorts bundled with it to introduce players to how to use the piece of plastic. Many expected it to follow tradition and for the showcase game to be a new Duck Hunt. Well, now the software has been announced and conversely it is 'Link's Crossbow Training'.

IGN got some details on the game from the horses mouth:

"Link's Crossbow Training drops players into a world in the style of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Players assume the identity of hero Link, who progresses through a series of tests to perfect his crossbow marksmanship. Start with stationary bull's-eyes and graduate to moving targets before defending Link against all kinds of enemies."

"The Wii Zapper combines our remarkable controllers into one housing with a classic style reminiscent of arcade-style games," explained George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Both veteran and first-time players will find it brings a whole new dimension to games where targeting is key and provides even more exciting game-play experiences."

It does seem a little strange that the gun attachment is being shown off using a crossbow game but the combination with the ever popular Zelda series will no doubt further it's success.

The price for the package will be $19.99 dollars in the US and will be released there on 19th November this year. No word has yet come for other regions.

Expect cheaper 3rd party clones to be announced soon.

Uh, oh...'Link's Crossbow Training'? Do I smell CD-i?!

Seriously, Zelda doesn't deserve this treatment. It probably won't be a complete game, and even if it is it's got to be a candidate for worst Zelda title in the series.

So it's a Zelda game that comes with the zapper for only $19? get ready for the suckiest Zelda of all time. I would understand if it was like a mini game thing, which came with other games like a metriod mini game and a hole bunch of mini games with different nintendo characters. Of maybe sell it off wii ware.

It also amazes me how a lot of people seem to think it's the zapper coming with the game, while it's the other way around. It's just a freebie coming with the cast. I think the theme suits rather well for this demonstration title. I sure as hell would rather see this than another game full of Miis. Bleh. In the end, it really has little bearing on the Zelda series.

What about a "Zapp the Mii" game that could be fun

Now that you mention it, that could be a lot of fun, especially after having made Miis of people you despise. =D Alas, it would probably be too macabre for the likes of Nintendo. Maybe once Wii Ware has rolled out. Heheh.

If its made by Nintendo you can pretty much assume with won't be complete rubbish. I don't think they would let anything drag down the illustrious Zelda franchise.

Well yeah I was a little harsh. I'm just saying it's not gonna be the best zelda game. Because no zelda game has ever coast $19. But it will probably be fun in it's own way.

Don't be stupid it's not going to be a full Zelda game, just a demo/mini-game starring link just to get people used to the gun attachment.
