Never had it and nor do I expect to as I don't play my 360 for the ludicrous amount of time that most red ringers seem to have done.

360 has those noisy fans for a reason folks.

I got it once with a caveat... I came home from PAX to find that my 360 RRoD'd, oddly enough I was able to remedy mine by unplugging and replugging the AC adapter back in. Not sure what happened, but it's not really a big issue.

Same here. I do pre-download my full games on to the hard drive before playing them though....which has to help. The only games I do not download on to the system's hard drive are games that I play casually.

I voted no, but I had my XBOX360 since just a couple of months.
I'm expecting to see it someday, also considered the trustworthiness of Microsoft's way of working.

[EDIT]
On January 23, a power shortage made my xbox360 present me the 3 dreaded red lights.
Fortunately it was just a power-adaptor failure, and un-replugging it fixed the problem.
Moments of terror though, considering it's 3 months old : D

Under warrantee? Doesn't MS have a 3-year RROD warrantee or something?

if its already out of warranty, you could probably find someone on craigslist that will fix it for you for 50 bux. they usually fix it so that it wont happen again too. doesnt sound like you got much to lose by trying....

I had the E74 last year. Not quite the RROD but it has the same result. Fortunately I bought my Xbox 360 Elite on 27th December 2007 so I could send it to Microsoft for a free repair/replacement. It was sent all the way to Germany. I got it back within a week.

Mine has RRoD'ed a couple of times, both times under warranty, both times it got replaced by MS. The current unit (my second replacement) hasn't given me an issue in a couple of years, and hopefully it will stay that way (although I wouldn't mind getting a 250GB Elite after another price drop).

Here's hoping this poll won't be needed anymore after they release the 360 Slim! Depending on the price, I'll be thinking about getting one for Christmas or so.

Microsoft put a better fan or something in the newer 360's afew years ago which stopped the RROD so any console that's a year and a half old or younger shouldn't get the RROD.

The chipset improved with the various models (falcon, jasper etc) and this reduced the chances of a RROD, but they never got rid of the problem, newer ones can RROD it's just less likely.

Uh, question...MS has been in the PC business longer than anyone, besides Apple and they had no problems with their last-gen system (what a monstrosity THAT was!) What in the hell is going on at that company to release such shoddy **** like that! I used to think this was a direct result of trying to beat the competition to market, but it's been a few years now! Correct your stupid-ass mistakes already and give gamers the console they pay for! Although, I must say, Nintendo ain't much better. Both Wiis I have bought had to be sent in after a few months to have the boards and drives replaced because of disc read errors

I maintain that I havn't a clue what it is that people do to their consoles to have such high failure rates across the board.

I've never had a single console die...in fact I just brought one back to life this very evening

As far as my Wiis, I have done nothing. They are babied beyond obsessive (just ask my kids when they get remotely CLOSE to my Wiimotes without permission) and they had defects (the same type for each one!). Although, I DID buy them both from Wal-Mart, and I've been told it could have been an issue there (like Wal-Mart gets the cheaper parts version or something)

Often times, it's simply luck of the draw.

It just bad luck most the time...i mean, i went through 9 RROD...I look after my consoles, my 360 is well ventalated and the room its in has an air purifier so there isnt even that much dust in here...Cant wait to get a slim, then i can just use my elite as a back up incase the slim has 'GROD' (no red leds in the slim...)

WTF is wrong with the tech guys who Repaired your Wii's?
They only needed the DVD drive to be replaced & still same fault twice in a row.
Me second Wii only needed needed the DVD drive replaced no new motherboard or anything.
Seriously the tech guys who dealt with your Wii's should be fired.

Well both Link fanatic & i must really have a bad luck of the draw then & that's with the Wii's 6% failure rate compared to the 360's 60-70% Failure rate

You may indeed have really bad luck. And then there are folks like Betagam7 who have had very good luck. I didn't say console survival is 100% based on luck, just that luck is often a factor, along with treatment, manufacture, etc.

[Also, you are being assessed a trolling infraction. You've been reminded and reprimanded repeatedly for making ridiculously exaggerated and inflammatory claims about the X360. None of these claims has ever been supported by evidence despite users asking patiently for you to provide it, and you've consistently ignored replies and discussion you've provoked. The moderation team has no choice but to believe that the only purpose of this kind of post is to provoke anger or offence.

Our Xbox 360 has red ringed about 5 times on us. Of course that's mostly because we play it constantly, in a room with poor ventilation, with the doors and windows shut, during the sweltering heat of summer, and leave it on even when we're noot playing it. The fact that its only overheated 5 times is a miracle. My computer has over heated more often then that.

Surprisingly, of all my consoles, only the Wii has actually broken. It refused to connect to the internet so I had to send it to Nintendo and they gave me a new one. Luckily this happened right away so all I lost were Mii's and stuff that I simply transferred via my Wiimotes (although now I can't edit them )

Mine RRoD'ed on me again last month and Microsoft confirmed that I had no warranty coverage (yay), much to my displeasure. I attempted the GPU fix and it's been working since...thankfully.

Nice site! Bookmarked.

I'm guessing you're still running the old phat model? Not that I think people should have to upgrade their consoles mid-generations just to have them work properly... but it seems like Microsoft did eventually get their **** together a couple years down the line.

Yeah, still running the old one (no HDMI) and will until I can't fix it anymore. I've been giving it the paces (44 hours of New Vegas in the last month alone) and it's hanging in there after the repair. I was afraid it might not be a good long-term option, but it's been hanging in there. If I do have to get a Slim, at least I'll hopefully be getting a more stable/durable console (at least). I'm guessing that if it had anywhere near the failure rate of the original there'd be a huge outcry about it.
