| to be honest I wouldn't believe anything until I see some actual gameplay... this commercial looks like the actors were just imitating what was going on...

| it certainly seems to show what could be, rather than what actually is. this is probably still pretty early in development. i hope it bombs. i think its a little too much . . . why would i scan in a real skateboard, and then jump around in the living room playing on a digital one? why not just... oh i dont know... skateboard?? |

I also believe that this Natal thing or whatever the hell it's called has got to be pretty early in development, so we won't be seeing it implemented (certainly not well) for a while yet. Even when it's released, I can't imagine ever having fun with it. I do prefer sitting back and controllering for the most part. Who knows, though, maybe it could be a big thing for the next generation of kid gamers? Time will tell. | |

| i dont agree with that at all. i cant play guitar worth a crap, but i can play guitar hero very easily. but if i have a REAL skateboard, i just dont understand. . . we're not talking tony hawk. a game is a game, but if i have to jump around to do a kickflip.... why not the real thing? maybe it just has to be a real good game for me to buy in. anyway, i dont care what they do or develop, i just dont see it going far. people are just too lazy. noone wants to do all that crap to play a game. hardcore gamers need tactile response, buttons. thats what i think anyway. they already write the wii off, like its not for 'real' gamers. price point will tell all. if its cheap enough, people will mess around with it. too much, it will drop off the planet. at least nintendo has microsoft worried enough that they are trying to keep up. |

| Firstly that video is so unrealistic it makes it hard to believe anything about it. That kind of stuff isn't going to happen, not this generation and probably not next generation. The fact that they came up with such an unrealistic promotional video just shows to me that they haven't got anything of real substance. They might release some games that have some kind of motion control, but I doubt they will be revolutionary. Secondly, what's so bad about having a controller in the first place? Even a motion controller? Even if it was real, I just don't see it translating into good gaming, you need buttons. Voice recognition in gaming is just awful. Isn't it easier, for example, to press a button for 'yes' or 'no' than saying 'yes' or 'no' with voice recognition? And isn't it easier to navigate a menu with a d-pad than by performing some awkward hand gesture that you hope will be recognised? Getting rid of the controller would be a drawback not an improvement, it's a step backwards. So in other words, no, I'm not convinced by Natal. Last edited by SegaFan; 9th June 2009 at 11:41 AM. |

| i could see it working well for the multimedia experiences, rather than actual gaming. but the voice stuff would have to be optional for it to work right, because, yknow, ...you might not be talking to the stupid thing. what if your telling your kid goodnight, about to watch a movie, and the whole thing shuts off? haha |

| Natal scares me. The video suggest that it will be able to identify you due to your facial attributes. Combine that with this (obviously fake) scanning feature & Bill Gates will know what you & your livingroom looks like if you go online. I have mayor doubts that Natal will ever work the way this video suggests & even IF it would work, i doubt that the developers will create games which will exceed the usual eyetoy-stuff. The Wii is the best example for it, the third party producers still seem to have problems to figure out good uses for the Wii-mote. Last edited by Kiwi the Tortoise; 9th June 2009 at 05:28 PM. |

| My take on Natal is that it looked like a upgraded Eyetoy. I have an Eyetoy and it was fun for the first day....or if you have kids. Kids love this kind of stuff. I don't believe the Milo video at all. I believe it was staged. If I'm proven wrong about this then it will be awesome. I would play that game if it was real. As far as the other video showing the skate boarding, Godzila rip-off, soccer, fighting, and racing could all work easily but a lot of hardcore gamers will grow bored from this kind of party-game style mini games. If it's well priced I will buy it just to navigate my 360. Using it on the dashboard looks really cool to me. Also, if the scanning thing works as well as they showed it working then that could be awesome in games as well. |
