| Lakitu | Adventure Island the Beginning(7.5/10) good game, lots of unlockables but only 16 levels and 4 mini games plus the jumping can be a pain at times Water Warfare(8.5/10) A really good younger audiences based shooter, has good wifi with tons of modes and ranking and friend battles with not too many lags, single player is fun with mission mode and match mode because mission mode has 5 areas and usually 8 missions per area with a boss on the last mission and match mode is just the same thing as wifi but of course offline and with cpus. their is a local 2 player that is just like match mode and wifi. the reason this game didnt get a higher rating is because their is only 5 mission areas and only 4 multiplayer areas and only 6 water guns(i think) and i forgot to mention that on multi plaer you can choose between a large map or small map pf the 4 areas so the game is great but not the greatest and if you are looking for a shooter on wiiware that is set for older audiences(kinda)get onslaught because that game is very good in my opinion and is also by hudson Last edited by Jogurt the Yogurt; 20th August 2009 at 08:37 PM. |

| After months of making noises EU gamers finally have it! It looks as though part of the delay was due to localisation issues and some gameplay tweaks. When this game was originally released in February in NA there were criticisms leveled at the controls. According to this the controls have been tweaked for the EU version. I was a little concerned that after all the waiting this game would be a disappointment. Happily it isn't. I've enjoyed this game. Its style and creepy atmosphere helps to make this more than standard puzzle game. Puzzles rely on careful use of items and balancing the power drain of your life saving light sources. The bosses I have encountered so far have been good and they help break up the core gameplay of making it from one side of the room to the other. The battles are puzzles in themselves but with the added threat of something unpleasant stalking you. They also serve as a chilling reminder of the fate that awaits Jake and his girlfriend should they fail to escape. The telephone calls from Rachael add to the atmosphere and provide a time limit to make you think and act fast. You do need to answer all the calls to get the good ending but if you do miss the call you can reset the level and try again, Knowing how to solve a puzzle and actually being able to do it though are very different things. Initial levels are forgiving enough to allow you to creep from one safe place to another, Later one however will require some deft moves to follow moving lights into safe zones. Whilst the controls have been tweaked there are still some issues but the structure of the game means that they are not unbearable. There are 30 basic levels but completion will unlock a harder Dark Mode for replay value. I really enjoy this game and would recommend it to horror and puzzle fans. 8/10 |

| Updated. Strong Bad Episode 2 - Strong Badia the Free - 6.5/10 An okay Point & Click game, although I preferred the 1st episode. The story in this game wasn't so interesting. Swords & Soldiers - 8.5/10 If you even have only a slight interest in Strategy games, then I'd still recommend this game. 4 different difficulties, 30 missions to play, 3 challenges and 25 trophies to unlock. It's challenging, it's variating and it's just plain fun. This is one of the better games the WiiWare service has to offer. It may even be the best. |

| Updated! Art Style: Cubello - 8/10 Simple, but brilliant. Great music too. Block Breaker Deluxe - 6/10 Decent game with a weird story, that they should have left out. The shop seems kind of unnecessary too. Bonsai Barber - 7/10 Sweet little game with a lot of stuff to achieve. 1000 points ain't the right price, though. Equilibrio - 5/10 Bad controls, bad visuals and repetitive gameplay. Some stages were fun to play though, and the game offers a lot for 500 points, but there are definitely better games to spend those points on. NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits - 8/10 Ah yes, WiiWare needs more games like this. It has quite some challenging levels and it's pretty hard to collect all those relics. Much better than the overrated LostWinds. Onslaught - 5.5/10 Repetitive gameplay, bad controls, lame story and insects (ain't my favourite animals). It could have been so much better. Pokemon Rumble - 7/10 Pretty good for a Pokemon spin-off. You'll be quite busy to collect all of them and it's fun to get better moves by using the lottery. The gameplay could have been a bit more variating though, and it's a shame that they reuse the 6 stages through the entire game. Pop - 4/10 It looks nice and it's an interesting concept, but I just don't want to press the A button for 45 minutes. Pop Them, Drop Them SameGame - 6.5/10 It's fun to play with a friend, but single player not so much. They really should have added a Challenge mode or something like that. |

| Art Style ROTOHEX (Nintendo / skip) I love these kind of puzzlers. The music in endless mode is great. Want an mp3 of this. Unfortunately there aren't many modes (in the beginning) just one and two player. Endless Mode and other stuff need to be unlocked first. In comparison it's not as good as the other Art Style games Cubello 9/10 and Orbient 9/10 but it's a worthwhile addition for all puzzle fans. 8/10 Texas Hold 'Em Poker (gameloft) Compared to Texas Hold'em Tournament this has... - better graphics - better offline (1player) mode because of achievements, more locations, cash games, and a button to skip CPU. - worse music, bad quality and cracks when it loops - worse online mode because you can't do anything with your money apart from unlocking generic characters you don't want to play with - translated to EU languages (not only English like THET) - higher price (600pts instead of 500) Both games use Miis, but in THET you could buy clothes to show off how rich you are. In THEP you can't do anything like that. It all depends on your preferences. Online or offline? THET or THEP! 7/10 PictureBook Games: Pop Up Pursuit! (Nintendo / Grounding Inc.) A quite unique board game for 4 players. Good: only 1 wiimote required + game keeps track of wins/losses Bad: no content (only 2 boards) and nothing to unlock This is not recommended for solo players, and even with four players this isn't great. 4/10 Last edited by SKTTR; 9th December 2009 at 04:41 PM. |

| Contra Rebirth: Repetitive gameplay, short game, and large lack of replayability. 6/10 Mega Man 9: Unique levels, epic music, great replayability, very difficult. 9/10 Bomberman Blast: Amazing multiplayer, alot of diversity, and fun online play. 9/10 Mega man 10: Fixes all of Mega man 9's problems, large replayability, difficulty modes, not as ground-breaking as MM9, though. 9/10 Castlevania ReBirth: Branching paths give loads of replayability, clever bosses, and great additions. 9/10 |

| I bought a new batch of WiiWare games. Most of the scores are only a "first look rating", not my final score. Excitebike: World Challenge 9/10 Great game, simple controls but deep gameplay. Offline mode only has 16 courses, but there are unlockables in online modes and a course editor for longevity. Sweat bonus. +1 Online bonus. +1 Rock N' Roll Climber 7/10 Interesting, unique game with innovative controls and cool Balance Board mechanics. Hard to master. Sweat bonus. +1 Balance Board bonus. +1 Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 5: Rise of the Pirate God 9/10 A great finish for this part of the cult adventure series. Clever and fun puzzles + sweet black sense of humour = another six hour long chapter and a great series coming to a good end. Let's CATCH 8/10 An easy and slow fitness game. An idyllic envirnonment, the talkative characters, the fitting acoustic guitar soundtrack and a handful of modes. I like this game. It's so calm and appeasing. Sweat bonus. +1 Let's TAP unlockables bonus. +1 Games I haven't played more than 1 hour.... I'll score them later. 530 Eco Shooter 5/10 This seems to be a mediocre on-rail-shooter! I'm somewhat disappointed by what Intelligent Systems have done here. Zapper definately needed for this one. Truth be told, I haven't played this much. I'll give it a 2nd chance later. Brain Challenge 7/10 25 nice minigames and a good presentation with lots of extra stuff. There's only one game that is the same as in Big Brain Academy. Well, there's still much to unlock. Ghost Mansion Party 7/10 Hmm... looks good. Is kinda like Mario Party, but different enough. Have to test it with 4 players. LONPOS 6/10 Well... the controls could be better. And I don't like the menu design. Online multiplayer could be interesting. There's potential. With all Pay&Play DLC this is 3500pts! Minus points for the expensive extra content! Online bonus. +1 Potpourrii 4/10 Looks like a flash game and I hate that! This puzzle game is unique and I should read the manual as it's not the Puzzle Bobble clone I thought it was. This could be a grower though. Don't take my first look score as a final result. All games could go up or down. Jungle Speed 8/10 This looks like a highly polished 8 player party game, if you and your friends are into card games. Very good presentation with a nice tutorial and all expansion packages included from start. CueSports - Snooker vs Billiards 8/10 A few minutes into the game, and again I'm addicted to Billiards. And now I can finally learn the Snooker rules. And it's online! And it has a puzzle editor and 50 puzzles. Lots of options. Saveable replays. The controls are like in Wii Play's Billiard. I think this will be a good game. Online bonus. +1 My Zoo 2/10 Puaah... There's about the same interactivity as in My Aquarium. No,... not really. It's worse. Maybe there are unlockables later on, but after the first look, this game is horrible! My daughter will like it though. |

| Boo Diddly | World of Goo: 9/10 Good game, not too short and solid style LostWinds. Winter of Melodias: 8/10 Nice platformer with good graphics, but too short. The difficulty in not good...some hard points, some really easy points...not a good learning curve. Contra rebirth: 7/10 Nostalgia score...good multiplayer. A little short. Swords and soldiers: 9/10 Fun, solid style, good in solo and good with friends. Rage of the gladiator: 7/10 Action and memorization of attack patterns...good wiiware little replacement of punch out. Bomberman blast: 7/10 Multiplayer only..the motion controls are so so. |

| Rip Van Fish | Some reviews on my higher rated Wiiware: Rubiks Puzzle Galaxy Rush: 7/10 Initially I wasn't blown away with this game but once I got to hard difficulty I started to appreciate the game more. Sadly, you're going to have to work through 40+ levels before you get to anything remotely challenging and the presentation - whilst functional - really isn't up to much. Toki Tori: 9/10 One of the first and best games on Wiiware. Easily as good as World of Goo (if not better) in terms of challenge but just pipped in visually and audibly. I've replayed this game through loads of times. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a King: 8/10 Another great launch title and one I'm ashamed to say I've never completed fully even though my play time must exceed 20 hours! Easy to pick up and despite the nature of the beast an amazing time waster. Definitely one of the better looking and sounding Wiiware titles. it does get at bit repetitive though so I recommend playing it over (fairly) short play periods. Looses an extra point for Squares desire to lighten the pockets of players a little too unnecessarily when it comes to DLC. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord: 8/10 An absolutely brilliant tower defense game that's sucked up over 14 hours of my time on the main game alone (12 hours first play through) Beautifully presented with great graphics, nice audio, a silly story and game play that's easy to pick up but hard to master. Looses points for encouraging purchase of DLC to complete the game (I know it can be completed without but I also know some people struggled) and again the excessive cost of that DLC. Star Soldier R: 7/10 Another launch game and one that gets overlooked in favor of its VC ancestors. Personally, I loved this game and have thrown many hours into it. I remember playing it non stop when I first got it to get my name into the top 100 rank. Nice graphics, good sound and a fair challenge. Such a shame it's so short though! Contra Rebirth: 7/10 The one and only game I've been interested in in the Rebirth series and although it came across as fairly disappointing to begin with it's grown on me. Unlike Mega Man 10, this game packs a challenge even on its easiest setting so be prepared. The graphics are ok although I still can't get on with the blurry pixellated look and overall there really doesn't seem to be much in the way of creativity for bosses and general enemies that hasn't been seen in previous iterations of the series. The sound and music are ok too although nothing to write home about. If you haven't played any of the Contra series before this is probably the best place to start in terms of easing you into the challenge curve. World of Goo: 8/10 I'll put one thing straight here. I don't think World of Goo is spectacular outside of its aesthetic value. There's very little increase in the difficulty curve until you hit the third world and even then the difficulty seem to fluctuate. Yes, this game has some outstanding production values visually and audibly and building your own tower of Goo is good for for a couple of goes but the whole concept gets wearisome well before the end and I found it quite a slog to finish the game completely. I actually score it lower than Toki Tori because I found it less enjoyable to play though. Driift Mania: 9/10 If there was ever a reason to bemoan Wiiware it's for the lack of decent racing games (and too many puzzle games Max and The Magic Marker: 6/10 Now this game had some potential and for me it didn't quite live up to it. Firstly, let's get the good out of the way. The visual presentation of this game is bordering on very good although it does come across a little sterile at times. Secondly, the drawing puzzles are, when done well, very satisfactory. The game controls work well enough and the pause and draw feature saved my ass on more than one occasion. Finally the game is fairly long so those 1,000 points seem even more well spent. Now for the bad stuff: the game is quite glitchy, which is acceptable to a degree but sometimes things just happen which break the game and the rest of the time it just makes the game feel half-finished. Secondly, some of the simpler drawing puzzles are simply too repetitive. Combined with the rather bland platforming and rather pointless and unimaginative enemies (which seems a staple of puzzle platformers on the service) it can all feel a bit too samey. Thirdly I found the music and sound as annoying as hell. Ultimately what saved this game for me was seeing what the next big puzzle would be. it's no Nyx Quest or to a less extent, Lost Winds but it provides a fairly good and lengthy challenge if you can cope with the annoyances. Lost Winds: 7.5/10 Another launch title and still one of the best games on the service. Slightly outdone by its sequel, Lost Winds proved (along with FFCC: My Life as a King) good looking games could be done well within the 43MB limit. I fell in love with game and although it's short (it took me about 3 hours to complete) I had no major complaints from start to finish. Sure, the dual control method utilising motion for gusting takes some getting used to but within ten minutes you're navigating platforms like a pro. The only downside to the game and one that I'll bring up on all my reviews of puzzle platformers I've played so far is that the enemies which are there to break the monotony of traversing the regular platforms serve more as an annoyance than a challenging aspect of the game play. Overall Lost Winds is a very good game that has sadly been superseded by both its sequel and Nyx Quest. But that's progress. Still, if you want all the games in the Lost Winds series, it's worth the purchase, outshining at least 2/3rds of the rest of the games on the service by a long way. Blaster Master Overdrive (Final review, see update at end): 6.5/10 I'm only about half way through this game so this is a partial review of what i think of the game so far. I approached Blaster Master Overdrive with a little caution but was pleasantly surprised. This game harkens back to the "good old days" when games felt challenging for the right reasons and so immediately places it in the heavens overlooking the sea of garbage that largely makes up the Wiiware service. Being shallow I'll start with the graphics which, to be quite frank, are good but rather sterile. The bosses are a mixed bunch and the graphical style screams early 90's home computer rather than referring to its console heritage which is a little strange. The layout of the overworld (in which you drive your vehicle) balances out 50:50 in terms of being mundane/clever and likewise the music suffers from the same ratio of average/great. The sound effects are imho horrible but suit the retro style of the game quite well so I guess that's subjective to personal taste. The game controls quite well although the grapple hook received early on tends to rely on first finding a ceiling to latch onto (by jumping upwards) rather than being of any immediate use. Having received that more than useful hover, I can only hope the grappling hook is a one off but time will tell. Switching between upgrades and weapons can be fiddly too. On more than one occasion i've accidentally used a smart bomb by accident in the heat of battle rather than switching to the next weapon. Swimming underwater is a major concern to me as it seems to rapidly decrease health. In one case less than 20 seconds underwater reduced my health to nearly zero making life very difficult. Luckily the cave I entered was well populated and the enemies dropped plenty of health allowing me to get out alive. So far I'd say enemy "intelligence" sucks (but what's new there when it comes to Wiiware?) and its only the shear number of baddies and bullets within the cramped confines of the levels that presents any real problem. So far I've found the enemy placement quite amateurish in that it vaguely reminds me of how bad my early Timesplitters 2 maps were, with an enemy or two on nearly every platform. Again, you might refer to it as retro charm but I say its lazy. The game's major redeeming feature here is that the overhead sections and bosses tend to be considerably more challenging. Despite these concerns, I'm pressing on because I'm enjoying the challenge of figuring out how to beat the bosses and how to overcome the good sections of the overworld. Even when taking the annoyances into consideration, I'd say Blaster Master Overdrive is shaping up to be a good - if flawed - entry into the genre. The good certainly outweighs the bad and hence my score is more than favourable so far. Update: I've finally given up on this game. After finding the controls and some of the games concepts less than ideal I'm leaving a score that reflects what I though of the best bits of the game. Frankly, I find it more infuriating to play than any Mega man game and far less rewarding. I genuinely enjoy a challenge but this game just feels cheap with its sudden and savage difficulty curve and less than great controls, Therefore I'm lowering my score slightly but giving it the benefit of the doubt because I haven't finished it.

| Rip Van Fish | That last post was getting a bit long... so here's another! I'll try to keep my reviews a bit shorter than the last few. Zombie Panic in Wonderland: 8/10 Great little shooter with great anime style graphics, catchy music and fairly frenetic game play (outside of the bosses which are easy as pie - even the first and hardest one!) It's not a long game but it is very satisfying to play through and the rediculous but quite funny storyline helps if for nothing but the wrong reasons. This game is great fun in multiplayer and the arcade mode and unlockable characters add plenty of reason to go back. I never looked at my scores to be honest so I'm not fussed that there's no online leaderboards (or online multiplayer for that matter) Pokemon Rumble: 6/10 This is the only Pokemon related game I'd touch. Period. I've tried like hell to get into the RPGs but I find them far too repetitive and this game bears that trademark too. The graphics are good with some nice environments which don't jar too much against the cartoony look of the Poke toys. The sound unfortunately is very average and largely forgettable. The one saving grace for this game is the rumble matches but even they get a little tedious after a while - in fact they became so familiar it didn't even register that i'd completed the game in Expert mode. Suffice to say, whilst this game is above average I will never return to it (unless it's played as part of the monthly gaming club) Actionloop Twist: 8/10 Who would have thought firing balls at more balls could be so frenetic and fun? Well, having come from a gaming background with a history of ball matching/shifting/firing puzzle games, I can, but this one is one of the better ones and one of the best games on the Wiiware service. Graphically and audibly this game is nothing to write home about. The inclusion of Miis is a nice touch though. What makes this game special is that there's tonnes of modes and loads of challenge and despite the sometimes awkward control system that requires twisting the Wiimote to aim I can highly recommend this game for anyone's downloadable gaming collection. A real gem.

| Rip Van Fish | Another days and some more reviews to bore - sorry, enlighten - the readers of this thread... Lost Winds 2: Winter of the Melodias: 8/10 Okay, so I was expecting another dose of the same and I got it with some good and some bad. Firstly, let's start with the good stuff: The sequel improves on the original in a couple of areas, most notably the length (taking me about an hour longer to complete) and the fact that the collectables lead to something more than self-satisfaction to the level of an anally-retentive completionist. The music is still there and that's about the best you can say about it unless you like bland and unremarkable - and yes - the graphics ARE better than the original. Moving on. The story is still a load of twaddle and the game still suffers from the same problems as the original. It's waaay to easy, there's far too much wandering back and forth from A to B. The bad guys are worthless and outside of the awkward platforming I'd say the final boss encounter was worse than the original. In fact, I prefer the original game's Globs because I never once found a situation where LW2's water and fire Globs were useful for anything other than making stupid noises. My major bone of contention is that some of the more "difficult" puzzles in this game are really just more convoluted rather than requiring much more thinking about. For example one scenario requires using a character to open a door which is subsequently blocked by iceIf anything, NyxQuest still outdoes Lost Winds 2 in the thinking man's stakes. Overall then, it's as good as the original with a few improvements. I've been uming are arring over my final score, but ultimately i don't think the game is as significant an improvement as some would make it out to be and hence it's not a huge step up. NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits: 8.5/10 I approached NyxQuest with a little caution as preview screens of the game didn't look so spectacular. Luckily this was one case where you had to see the game in motion and in terms of challenge and longevity this is probably the best puzzle-platformer you'll find on the service so far. The trouble is, these strengths are also NyxQuest's weakness as the game's levels can be quite long and wearisome with some very slow paced block-shuffling sections. Luckily they are few and far between and largely this game is full of well thought out level design and I'd go as far as to say the rather unremarkably designed lesser enemies work quite well in places. In fact, NyxQuest scores well over both Lost Winds and Lost Winds 2 in terms of incorporating enemies into the game and the final stages are a reflection of the thought that went into incorporating good enemy design as well as good puzzles and platforming. Graphically, this game is good but outside of the last few levels the theme doesn't change much and much like the music it all becomes second fiiddle to the game play which is a good thing ultimately. Sounds effects are likewise minimal but overall I'd say aurally this game is better than either Lost Winds title. The game also has plenty of replayability which encourages finding artefacts to unlock another level. To be honest, it was much more incentive to play again that Lost Wind 2's unlockable gallery (yay! - not) Talking of playability, i never once had an issue with the controls and the learning curve doesn't suffer in the same way as the Lost Winds series because of them. So overall, a nice looking, challenging and lengthy game and so ultimately another gem worth adding to your collection. Jett Rocket: 7.5/10 I was hyped about this game for quite a while, so I'm glad I've not been too disappointed (like I was with Max and the Magic Marker) Let's get the most obvious thing out of the way: this is a very nice looking 3D platformer. Graphically I'd say it's the best looking platformer yet with some very clever texturing effects to make fairly realistic looking grass, water and metallic surfaces. In fact, probably the worst effect must be running through the snow level which leaves what I can only guess is a trail of puffy white clouds from under Jett's feet. Of course, graphics maketh not the game so how does the rest fare? Well, to be quite honest it's a mixed bag. The sound and music are nice, if nothing spectacular, and the game is fairly lengthy (taking me just over 4 hours to complete at 88% Jett Rocket's main problem is for almost the first two thirds of the game you'll wonder why you bothered as there's very little to challenge the player and for the majority of the game if you take a hit it's either through trying to be clever or there is the odd occasion where the designers have hidden an enemy behind a wall too close to where you enter an area allowing for a cheap attack. There's a real lack of danger from most enemies and even when in groups they can be easily despatched one by one without taking any damage. In fact, as I progressed I took more damage from environmental dangers like saw blades and swamp water (which seems to have a very strange cumulative affect where if you jump in and out it several times you die in the same way as the more obvious standing still in in for too long) As for the bosses: they look the same, and even though their attacks differ I found very little challenge in them - even in the final encounter. Controls wise, Jett does handle well enough although the jet-pack does seem very limited and at times a little erratic in its responsiveness. The waggle attack works well although sometimes it didn't register when focusing attacks on the buttons of the armoured machines in the Antarctic levels, providing a few wtf? moments. And that's ultimately another problem with Jett Rocket: sometimes it just feels half finished. Omitting the game glitchy camera getting stuck behind a wall or refusing to let the player see where to jump, there are features which just aren't used enough like the snowboard, parachute and jet ski, which feature probably once or twice in the entire game. Yes, it's nice to see the odd homage to Mario or Sonic but when it's once in a game it just feels a bit odd. All in all Jett Rocket is a very well presented game but it quite average in terms of challenge. There's no puzzles that will perplex for more than an instance and combat - whilst a definite step up from Lost Winds - is still very shallow. Fortunately, there's quite a bit to chew on and when Jett Rocket does ithings right it's a joy to play. With a little more forethought Jett Rocket could have been great but it isn't. Which is why I'm waiting upon the sequel with even more enthusiasm.

| I'm sorry for the delay, but I can assure you that an update is coming soon. I'm trying to find a free night, but I couldn't even find any free time at all in the past week. I did come up with a few ideas to improve the thread, and of them is a section of the VCF members. So please tell me the following whenever you post again in this thread: - Your age - Your country - The amount of WiiWare games you own - How many WiiWare games you have beaten - How many WiiWare games you have completed (100%) - Your favourite WiiWare game - Your least favourite WiiWare game - A rating of the WiiWare service on a scale of 1 to 10 |

| Mega mole | A chance to improve the site by giving more details about the members themselves. I don't see the problem unless you're lying about your age for some reason (if so, how silly) |
