| There's that "World Of Goo" love that was puzzlingly absent from another thread!... LostWinds: 5/10, a once play-through platforming adventure. These puzzles were not near hard-enough for my liking and it was far too short. Cocoto Fishing Master: 5/10, this is a good score considering I've never been a fan of fishing games... World Of Goo: 10/10, great artistic presentation, great progression in difficulty, amusing (little) story, best WiiWare title to date, and a prime candidate for "best Wii game of all time" ... Reminds me of lemmings, with a hardcore physics engine at play... |

| ^^^^^^^^^ You own "Midnight Pool" a generic interpretation of a videogame of pool that you can probably get for free anywhere on the net with little-effort? Yet, you don't have "World Of Goo" , a great new original IP on the WiiWare service exlusive to PC/Wii? |

| Fun! Fun! Minigolf - 7/10 Good challenging golf game with decent controls. Especially fun with more players. It's too bad that it doesn't offer more than a standard play mode. World of Goo - 8/10 Totally awesome. One of the best WiiWare games available. I love the music in this game and it's great that you can listen to a 50 minute soundtrack for free. |

| i remove my last post to this thread. I'd like to know, which wiiware games you currently own. I currently only own one wii-ware game:cocoto fishing master.(It's really fun , at 700 points,it could be well worth it!) In all, it' is actually l a fishing sim and more akin to an elaborate fishing minigame under the guise of an adventure. also cocoto's adorable little face is so cute!!! So i rate this game at 7.5/10 |

| TOP 10 WIIWARE GAMES 10. Space Invaders Get Even 8/10 Good ideas and terrible packaging 9. Art Style: Orbient 8.5/10 A welcome shift from the almost always panicked state of puzzle games 8. Onslaught 8.5/10 Proves that bugs can and will f*ck you up 7. Alien Crush Returns 8.5/10 If you like pinball, buy this game 6. LostWinds 8.5/10 Rich in ideas and atmosphere, but short on challenge, and just short. 5. Defend Your Castle 9/10 The most monotonous game I have ever played, and also one of the most fun. 4. Star Soldier R 9/10 People knock it for being short, but I've barely played the 2nd level, still trying to kill a million on the first. 3. World Of Goo 9/10 A left-field slap in the face to the inflated Hollywoodish state of modern games 2. Mega Man 9 9/10 This is like giving Twin Peaks fans a 3rd season 1. Bit.Trip Beat 10/10 This game belongs in the Louvre: Pure Art

| Onslaught Fun little game, yet nothing extraordinary (except for the fact it's a FPS on WiiWare, of course 7/10 ArtStyle: Orbient Fantastic! I just love how much dept has been put into a game which is controlled solely with the A and B button.. superb. 9/10

| Yesterday I've beaten World Of Goo. I can't give it more than FFCC - My Life As A King (8/10), because it's too short. On the other hand its flawless. A fluid and fun original puzzle game. 5 cool worlds in which every stage is unique, and this game offers an additional challenge for every stage plus a free stage where you can build your own tower of goo as high as possible, comparing it to other players online. 8/10 |

| Lakitu | Im going to actually talk a BIT about the Wiiware games I posted. Dr. Mario Online RX Fun and simple puzzle game, the lowest difficulty is easy and the higest can be challenging in top speed. Veterans will accustom greatly. World of Goo Simply ammazing and the levels keep getting challenging. Megaman 9 Pretty much your standard formula for Megaman. If you like the series it's a great game but it might be too hard to new comers. Unless you bring the retro heart and soul with you! Bomberman Blast Great game, for when friends come over. Alone not so much... Online is a tad better but it's still not as great as local multiplay Tetris Party The same great Tetris you love! Comes with new modes which I enjoy all fully myself and online play which is great to see how you rank up with everyone else. There are also Tournaments you can enter and you can even win back your 1,200. However it seems there will be one last tournament. 9/10 My Aquarium I recently got My Aquarium as a gift from Noobers. Now for me it's too early to judge this as seeing im going to wait a bit but I enjoyed customizing my tanks and selecting my fish. There isn't that much for the decoration but its ok with what they do have. I personally love the Classical music selection and for me is worth the 5 bucks alone. (yeah I know!) It still bothers me that there is no Mozart in site! I think it would be a bit more fun if I had more fish to select from to put in my tanks which is while im willing to wait until I unlock more for a full judgement. All I know is you won't spend hours a day playing it, but it's good to come in at least 5 minutes a day to check up on them. Ok guys I want them Bonsai Barber reviews now! | Jumping Piranha Plant | I completely forgot this thread even existed. Here's a few more from what I downloaded: World of Goo: 9.5/10 It's one of the most well-designed games on WiiWare. It's not really my kind of game, and the price made me hesitant to buy it, so that attributed to the loss of half a point. But from watching my sister play it, I have to admit... it's also a very funny game. Tetris Party: 9.5/10 It's Tetris, what do you expect? It's seemingly endless supply of modes and stages make it great fun. And that's coming from someone who isn't that great at puzzle games! I've also downloaded all the Strongbad games, but it's been too long for me to rate the ones I havent already rated (see: page 1 of this thread). And I havent played Bit.Trip.Beat enough to really get an honest rating out of it. |

Blog Entries: 14 | My Aquarium 8/10 It has its faults, but it's entertained me more than Nintendogs ever did. It's not something that'll keep you directly engaged, but it's handy to have pulled up on the TV in the background. When I'm waiting for a page to load, or someone to reply in chat, or some ridiculous 30-minute cutscene to finish up, I turn around to the TV and mess with the fish. It reminds me a lot of the little toys and figures I keep around my desktop TV. Last edited by pdRydia; 12th May 2009 at 09:27 PM. Reason: spelling |

| Rip Van Fish | Okay, I'll rate my WiiWare games. My Pokémon Ranch: 4/10 An application that BARELY does its job, and doesn't allow any function to switch trainers, there COULD have been a password function. Quite interactive, but nothing to keep you coming back often. It's worth 500 in my opinion. Maboshi's Arcade: 7/10 Great game, simple, intuitive, fun, easy to pick up. They could of revised a few minor things, but that shouldn't deter you on buying it, TOTALLY worth the 800 points. BIT.TRIP BEAT: 8/10 Fun, innovative, great graphical style, controls well. A good package overall, although, if you're not a fan of hard games, it would be a slight turn off. BUBBLE BOBBLE Plus!: 7/10 A nice revival of the BUBBLE BOBBLE series, arrange mode is a nice addition( I LOVE that track D: ), the only thing I find slightly off putting is the slow jumping time, but that shouln't have you turning your nose on this game. Plattchen Twist-'n'-Paint: 8/10 A great unrealised concept, HUGE amount of levels, and tons of unlockables for those completionists(*cough*OCD*cough*), although there are a few things that might keep someone from enjoying it fully. 1) The game is REALLY hard to get to grips with. You might need to look at the tutorial a few times to know how it works. Bplus also put up a how to play video. 2) This has one STEEP learning curve. Yes, I'd say the puzzles get hard around Sector: 1-16. 3) Fantasies are a nice addition, but sometimes, they just take the **** out of you. Named and shamed: Playroom, Haunted Woods, FRUITY SMILE, and Cuddly World fantasies. 4) Control issues, only minor, but with a game like this can REALLY screw you over at crucial points if you're not careful. But if can learn to look past these things, you will find this a rewarding experience. THEN you go set it on fire. I'll post more as I look through my others. Thankies for reading. | Do you like my helmet? | Final Fantasy IV: The After Years — 9/10 This game is designed specifically to appeal to fans of FFIV, and I am one. The game uses basically the same engine/system as the original, uses the same maps, the same music, the same sprites (for enemies), etc. but adds new things here and there to keep things interesting. The on-map sprites and the party member sprites are new. The old maps have new twists, often with new areas to explore. They have even added two new elements to the gameplay: the Band system, which lets party members team up to perform combo attacks, and the phases of the moon, which affect the effectiveness of certain types of attacks. Overall, the new story is interesting, the new characters are pretty cool (and the old characters are really cool), and it's well-paced and enjoyable. The game loses a point because of its distribution method and cost. The main game consists of an 800 point episode now and an 800 point episode in September. To complement this main game, there are also seven 300 point episodes, one of which is available now, and three of which will be available in each of July and August. That's a total of 3700 point, or roughly $37, for an episodic mobile phone port. The first episode of the main game took me about 4 hours to beat, and the first side-story episode (Rydia's Tale) took me around three hours. This will end up being a respectable length when all is said and done (30 hours or so?), but with only these initial episodes available right now, it seems very short and very expensive. On the plus side, if you're on a limited allowance/budget, at least the episodic release schedule means you'll only have to spend about $10 per month rather than $37 up-front. MORE ON COST AND CONTENT The main quest took me 4 hours. That was gunning straight through the game. Rydia's Tale took me 3 hours, again, gunning straight through. Six more side-quests at 3 hours each = 21 hours for the side-quests, not incl. main story. My guess is the second half of the main quest, coming in Sept., will open up the world for you to explore and basically do endgame-style stuff (explore, find ultimate gear, power level, whatever), so that will have a lot more potential to take more time. Each episode also contains a "Challenge Dungeon". This is kind of like a mystery dungeon in that the maps and treasure change every time you enter. The purpose of this challenge is to see how long you can last / how far you can get, collect some sweet treasure you couldn't find in the main part of the game, and to increase the episode's longevity while you wait for new episodes. Each episode has one of these! [EDIT: After playing some more, I've made a mistake here. The maps don't change every time. They are static. SOME of the chests respawn with new/random treasures. Others remain empty. That's about it. So basically you go in, learn the dungeon, get the "common" stuff from chests that won't refill, and you can keep coming back and getting new stuff from the "rare" chests.] So if you gun through the game like me and these first two episodes set an acceptable precedent, then you're looking at ~30 hours of gameplay. If you take some more time to explore, you'll play longer. A friend of mine, who's also a Final Fantasy veteran, spent 6 hours on the main quest and 4-5 on Rydia's. At that pace, he's looking at 44 hours not including endgame/postgame exploration and challenge dungeons! $37 for a 45+ hour RPG is not a bad deal. Yes, it's about the price of a new DS game, but it's also about the same level of content. Many DS games are just retooled SNES games. Hell, a lot of people don't even like FFIV DS's 3D art style, so this game is even better for them! My main gripes about this game are that it could have been a touch cheaper (maybe 1000 for each main episode and 200 for each side-quest, for a total of 3400) and the episodes could have been a bit more evenly spread out (I have to wait a month to play some more—instead of three next month, why not one next week?), but the content of the game definitely makes it worth it. If you wait until September and just shell out the whole cost, then you don't even have to deal with the waiting! One more note. After the credits of each episode, you get a chance to save your episode's clear data. The game explains that this will make your data available to the other sections of the game. So far, this hasn't been utilized between these two episodes, but it's possible that in later episodes, when characters and story paths start to intersect, that they will draw on your save data to provide character stats, items, etc. It's also extremely likely that the second half of the main game (800 points, coming in Sept.) will draw the various characters together and gather their information from every episode's clear data. This is ****in' cool! Last edited by Jogurt the Yogurt; 11th June 2009 at 03:07 AM. |

| Mega Man 9 (10/10) Great gameplay, and a nice throwback to the classic Mega Man series. It has the classic 8 bit style everyone knows and loves. Good music, comparable/better than Mega Man 2, even. I don't see why people are saying this game is so hard, there are waaay harder NES games that everyone has to have played (I find Super Mario Bros. harder than this....OK, it's because I really suck at that game ). Overall, best Wii Ware game besides (possibly) Final Fantasy IV The After Years and World Of Goo. I'll judge 'em after I play 'em. |

The game is definately worth 1500! It's very unique, very long, very addictive. It's just great. But whenever I think about this game there is a bitter taste in some certain aspect. It's the price for some of the DLC. I'm confident with additional stages, characters, buildings. That's all worth something. I'm a completionist and want everything but I feel heavily ripped-off to spend 100 points for just 1 new costume(!). I should have given it two different ratings. One with all DLC and one without. I tried very hard to find a compromise, but then again i don't have all DLC so I couldn't give it a "fair" rating. So, all in all it lost points because of the many costumes that each cost 100 wii points. I really don't care about the heavy slowdown in a maxed out city, I really don't care about the failure in giving EU a translated version. It's just those costumes that in my opinion should be free content. Edit: Ah, you know what... Without all that DLC it's definately worth those 1500/1500. And I even liked it more than World of Goo, so screw that. I don't have a list on my hand what all the DLC is and what it costs right now, but it might be something like 3000/4000 in the end which makes it the best game anyway. I'll edit that in the original post. Quote:
and yes, i don't rate a game higher than its cost. Last edited by SKTTR; 5th June 2009 at 07:25 AM. | ||

| Do you like my helmet? | Eduardo the Samurai Toaster (800 Nintendo Points) This is a side-scrolling action game (run & gun with a couple of horizontal shmup stages thrown in) with stylish graphics and smooth controls. Eduardo can shoot in 8 directions and can whip close range enemies with his power cord. He can also collect different powerups from his enemies (rapid fire, spread shot, etc.). The various stages feature different visual styles, with some of them taking place in the woods, one in a volcano, and a few of them in a strange pencil-sketch style samurai village. The music is also really nice and suits the game, but there are only a few tracks, so it can get repetitive (this wasn't really a problem for me though). Multiplayer is a big selling point of this game. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th players can drop in and out of the play with the push of a button. Co-op is the main goal here, but you can also pester your friends by throwing them around the screen. Some of the stages seem like they would really need multiple players to pass on the higher difficulty levels. One of the things that makes this game so great is the number of options you have to tailor the game to your skill level. There are four difficulty modes (Easy, Normal, Hard, and Crazy), and you can choose how many lives you get (1, 3, 6, and infinite). The game auto-saves between stages. The game is very short (I beat Normal mode in just under 2 hours), but replay value will come from the various difficulty levels and adjustable number of lives (try a 1 life challenge on this...!) as well as from multiplayer mode if you have some friends around (no online, unfortunately). Jogurt says: 8/10. |

| Do you like my helmet? | Art Style: ORBIENT (600 Nintendo Points) In keeping with the Art Style series design philosophy, this game is simple and stylish, in terms of graphics, music, and controls. You just have to press A to attract and B to repel in order to change your course. Collect planets and satellites to increase in size, collect the bonus moon, collect the goal star, and you're done. Fine. The game loses points because the simple gameplay can become repetitive after a while. That's fine, it's only $6, but it is something that decreases the replay value. If a game's not perfect, it doesn't get a perfect score. One thing that has been annoying me about the game is that when you crash your star, you rebound in the other direction. This can sometimes cause you to careen into another star, lose another life, bounce into another star, etc. I have lost 4-5 lives in a row like this without before being able to regain control. Another problem is that the game doesn't keep track of single player progress other than in a stage-by-stage kind of way. If I go from stage 1 to stage 4 and amass 12 lives, then I want to go back and try stage 4 again to get a bonus moon I missed, it restarts you with the default number of lives and you can't pick back up where you left off with all your lives ever again. Come on, I know it's a simplistic game, but it shouldn't be hard to create a basic save point. Other than these minor labeefs, the graphics are functional, the music is barebones, and there are a lot of stages to play, bonuses to collect, and high scores to challenge. OK. Jogurt says: 6/10. |

| You could look at it that way OR you could grind for lives on an easy stage before tackling the other harder stages. You can combine such grinding with trying to collect the moons for added fun and challenge. Collecting them all leads to even more levels. The game is huge. I think there are approx 50 stages. |

I've also just discovered another annoyance! I had racked up 20 lives and was making a good run through the stages, but I had to take a break so I left the system on. My remote had disconnected (as usual) and when I turned it back on, my lives had been reset. So it resets your lives even if you lose connection with the game, too. Yay! What a great feature to include! ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:

| As I recall its broken up into 6 galaxies with multiple stages in each but this isn't a game many people will play through in one go (unless they have alot of time on their hands). For me its a wind down game I come to at the end of a session, crack a few levels and then switch off.
