I'm sure Darklord is a great game and all, and I don't mind expensive DLC as long as it's stuff that's released afterwards to enhance the game, etc. But this DLC just looks like it was bits and pieces of the game that were left out specifically to be used as DLC. 200-400 Wii Points for some extra items? It's honestly enough to make me reconsider getting the game and supporting this kind of nonsense at all.

Guitar Hero World Tour has some DLC as well most songs are 200 points each but there are a few free songs as well.
There's no track packs as due to the filesize exceedsfilesize limit.
I due expect the the total cost of world tours DLC exceed the total of MLAADD DLC.

It is a bit galling to see the list of fluff that makes up the DLC but no-one is forcing anyone to buy everything. It seems a bit crappy to make people pay to make a game easier. I thought the whole JRPG ethos was cheating was frowned upon.

I have this game and really enjoy it. The DLC aspect didn't really factor into my decision to download. The optional adventures (after Chapter 3 and the end of the game) are a similar proposition to the extra dungeons in MLAAK and the FFIV After Years DLC.

I'm not likely to touch the cheaty bits but maybe in a few months time I may download the extra missions.

I was dumb enough to download the "Designer Wardrobe" (600 WP) and the "Beloved Wardrobe" (600 WP).

You get 3 costumes in each. Every costume gives you an extra ability you can use once in battle/or 50 additional NE.
But you can only wear one at a time. So you are only able to use 1 of these 6 additional power-ups in a stage and that's not very much.

Getting 3 of those items (200 WP each) is a better deal, because you can use all 3 of them in one stage.
But no (useless) costume change for Mira then.

I also downloaded the monsters "Darklord Special Forces" (500 WP) which gives you a pack of 4 or 5 additional powerful and very useful creatures
and "Kain" (200 WP) which is said to be the strongest melee unit in the game. (He's also very fast which makes him a great choice against any kind of archer. I use him every time.)
These monster packs were at least worth something and imo make the game better and longer. (more strategies, more diversity, more stuff to level up and max out).
I'm looking forward to get all monsters (when I maxed out the level of every beast I already have).

There are just too few different floors, it's annoying so maybe I download these two packs before I play further (I'm on the last few stages of chapter 5).

The extra stages might be the best thing next to the monsters, so as long as this game keeps me addicted I plan to buy extra stuff for it.

But I feel it's just a rip-off when all together is 6700 WP. I would never buy this game if it was on retail but that's the strategy behind selling this game.



On a "scale of worthness" the DLC would look like this:

1. Monsters (1400 WP) - Useful and good-looking units make room for deeper strategy and enhanced longevity.

2. Extra stages (1000 WP) - Enhances longevity.

3. Floors (700 WP) - Just like the monsters these packs give you special floors that can be quite useful at times. More variety in building.

4. Items (1400 WP) - The more items you buy, the more power-ups you have in the game. Each one of them makes the game a little bit easier, but you need all of them to make a significant change in difficulty.

5. Costumes (1200 WP) - Cosmetic changes. If you buy both packs you have 6 costumes to choose from - and with them always only 1 of 6 additional (lame) power-ups at a time.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I probably wouldn't even ever feel obligated to download most of the DLC. That's not what worries me. But I'll refrain from buying the game simply because I don't want to support this kind of game design ethic. I don't even see The After Years in this same light because at least those episodes contain significant content. Each 300 point episode is a major plot point contained in 3-5 hours worth of RPG gameplay. Compare that to 300 points for a hat.

Yeah Tales of Monkey Island has no Pay&Play (DLC).
All 5 chapters are individual "games".

The only announced games with DLC I'm aware of are Cave Story and Copter Crisis.

Well Alien Crush Returns supposedly have free DLC but i recken all i got was unlock codes .

The game basically starts up & checks for these codes that unlocks the built in DLC .

I have ACR, it released free "downloadable content" every week or so from its launch such as free balls and extra tables. I'm not sure whether anything was really "downloading" though or whether it wasn't just unlocking in the game on a certain day.

I have to damn My Life As A Darklord Pay&Play DLC again for costing too much. Costumes and items and everything rips you off.

Darklord gets a 7/10. Its 1000pts. Good game. Gets a bit repetitive after a while, but is kinda fresh.
And with only 5700pts more, you can enhance the game to a respectable 7.5/10.
