The good folks at WiiWare World apparently have a hard time with family-friendly / party games. I wonder if they play-test them in a fun multiplayer environment.

They probably do.

Corbie's comment on it's own Review:

"This game was a real surprise for me personally. I didn't expect much from this game, but it's actually very well done. My whole family loves it. I even went and ordered one of the real card games online after playing this video game version, and I don't even really like card games."

I was thinking mainly of their terrible Fun! Fun! Minigolf review. I didn't bother reading this one, mostly because I have no interest in checking out this game. I just find it pretty funny that you can see review scores for family-oriented games on a steady decline.

I have yet to download any WiiWare titles due to being worried of their playability...World of Goo comes close as does Mega Man 9...the rest, i'm too weary of...too afraid if they are worth my money or not

Not exactly.

When I say "family-oriented" I mean multiplayer games (usually 4-player) that are very fun with family members, friends, etc. but pretty much not-fun at all when played alone.

When reviewers say "casual" they usually mean basically any light-hearted colourful game, whether it's multiplayer or not, whether it's fun when played alone or not, etc. So probably all of the games I consider family oriented would be considered casual games by whoever likes to use that term, but there are a whole lot more casual games that I wouldn't consider family-oriented.

But whatevz.

You just described a party game, not a family friendly game.

I think a family-friendly game is like one from the Lego: Licensed Product series.

But this is more of a semantics issue, since I knew what you meant.

You want semantics? I said family-oriented, not family friendly. And your example is kid-friendly. There are no kids in my family. I only give a flying **** about my family anyway. The rest of them can bite it.

I basically mean party games, I guess. Party games can be awesome, but they have to be reviewed properly, that's my point. Fun! Fun! Minigolf was not reviewed properly.

I have to say I have always been interested in the family series games. I have Family table Tennis and its pretty good but short on modes. The visuals for the Family games are just fantastic. So even if they don't offer many game modes at least they look good.

I have kids that only want to play the games on 360 like Gears of War 2 and The Orange Box...I try to get them into those family-oriented ones they get bored too fast...my wife and I enjoy those types, though.
