Default Super Paper Mario

Since we Europeans haven't seen the release of this title yet (and probably won't until Q3) can those who have played it share some input? Is the title as great as the reviews I've read (Averaging a score of 9/10)?

Our friends at NintendoLife sum it up pretty well:

Super Paper Mario review

I have it for my US Wii. It is truly excellent. My favourite Wii game so far. 9/10 for sure!

October...

A nearly 6-month lead time for Europe is baffling, and nigh-unforgivable, especially given the dearth of titles here at the moment.

That sounds great Dazza. I actually haven't played the earlier entries in the Paper Mario series, but I'm really looking forward to this one now.

iNma: Is the release date set for October? God damn what a hold up. I'm guessing it's a translation related issue, given the games hefty amount of dialogue. By the way... Where did you hear about October being the ship date? I haven't seen any official word on it, just placeholder dates.

The last I heard was the end of November, which is fairly believable.
And if it does come out over here at the end of the year, can you still see the other big hitters coming out? I can't.
But anyway, I've only played the Cube's Paper Mario and it's awesome.
It it's as funny as that one I'll be happy.

I can't remember where I saw the October release date, so don't take it as gospel. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if October was optimistic.

And I second the opinion about other big games. However, one hopes that Nintendo are smart enough not to delay them significantly. Firstly because I *need* Metroid Prime 3, and secondly because they're paramount to the credibility of the Wii as a gaming machine

Nintendo has a lot to prove, given earlier statements. They have made "promises" that there would be a steady flow of AAA-titles and that we would see Metroid 3 and Mario Galaxy early on. Neither of those "promises" reflects our present situation (according to me), but given the gaming goodness that awaits us I'm playing the waiting game for now.

Back to Super Paper Mario. I'm a little unsure if shaking the Wiimote for extra points is such a great feature. It seems a little tacked on, just for the sake of it. Does it add or take away from the gameplay?

I can't believe I've never played a game from the Paper Mario series
I'm getting it on launch, and I'm hoping for the original on VC.

You actually have it in America?! if you do, then I'm mad!
I hate all the delays and stuff we get, why can't we just all have the exact same games without having to go through all this PAL and NSTC crap?

But we've got a better VC lineup, and we're getting Mario Strikers Charged Football next month, which America won't have for months (I believe it's got a Q3 release there). Europe being the first with a true online game ftw.

And we also aren't discussing Super Paper Mario are we?

On topic: As I said below or above or whatever, I'm annoyed by the delays! But I still can't wait for our distant release!

I know, I know. It really isn't that fair for Europeans to wait for games in the same language in which they speak! What do they have to do, replace every 'waffle' with 'crumpet'? Quite stupid, whatever they do to delay the games in Europe so long.

On a side-note... I wonder how many games there are that actual contain crumpets/waffles?

And to think of all the lift/elevator they have to translate.

Nah, it's the german/french/spanish that takes time. And since there's a lot of dialogue it will take some time.

But the game itself...I've never played it but I've heard that it's a little like SMRPG and would maybe buy it. It kind of depends no it's reviews and my economical situation.

I know we're the trashbin of Europe, but at least Italian is a very nice language.....

Anyway, titles like this always receive an incredibly high degree of attention for translations. I really appreciate that, Paper Mario and Mario&Luigi sagas are probably the funniest games I ever played.

When I'm suggesting friends to buy one of these titles, my argumentations always focus on the infinite laughs they provide.

For all of you in Europe, the game is well worth the wait. Super Paper Mario has the same great game play as the traditional side scrolling Mario games, plus the RPG elements and great humor of the previous Paper Mario games. It's true that it's not fair that you have to wait for the game, but I guarantee that it will be worth it.

I just don't get why we (europe) need translations, don't most people read english anyway? Maybe it's just me though, I read english before most kids could read dutch I'm hoping there will be a freeloader or something else out soon, so I can start importing. I really want to play this game and I can't believe it's not even on the 2007 release list in europe yet.

The reason for the delay is because the PAL version has to allow for all major European languages. Unfortunately us Brits come under the PAL region. The American games fall under the NTSC region and as such are dealt with by NOA not NOE (Nintendo of America, Nintendo of Europe). If there was a "Nintendo of Great Britain" it would solve all our problems. Its been like this since the dawn of time and it probably isn't going to change anytime soon.

The problem is that Paper Mario 2 only took about a month to translate. Super Paper Mario hasn't even been MENTIONED by NoE yet.

Man, that's rough. I'm glad I don't have to go through all that. Its so not fair to you guys. I feel for all of you. But just thankful for the great VC lineup you guys have to keep you busy in the meantime.

Default Super Paper Mario

Well since no ones really talking about the game ONLY that it takes to long for for the translation ( I feel sorry for you too ) I guess I'll talk about it. Well it's not much of a hard game, but I still love it. The fighting pretty easy, I guess it's like that because it's not supposed to really be a hard game, but the bosses should have been harder. There are some hard fighting parts. ( example: pit of 100 trials ) Other than fighting, the game is great! I love the story and all of the different moves you get, I love doing stylish moves. And to actually BEAT the game there's a lot of extra things to get, like the 258 cards and all of the recipes. All over all this is a great game and I would say this is one of the best games out there.

Come on dude, I wasn't expecting such a frankly xenophobic and straight ignorant comment from you. Surely you cannot demand that the entire world learn a language that, even in its most widespread form, is no more than a lingua franca for universal communication between people of different mother tongues. There's no substitute for the nuances that can be achieved through individual localisation. According to wikipedia, the total number of English speakers in the world is less than a billion, thereby, deducing from your flawed logic, games should be unattainable to more than 5/6 of the world because of their refusal to learn it? No, just no.

I see your point, but we all live in the age of the the Internet and technology that all speak English... Why cant they accept that, will they ever?. Other languages is secondary in that context. They are making its ppl lag behind cos they want to keep the national pride and refuse to accept the standard. Do they think its ppl is to stupid to cope with another lang? The rest if EU is teaching it AFAIK expect those nationalists(iknow im itching nerves now ). Like two generations up from me(in my contry) dont even know english. I dont see them screeming nooo another lang is bad. Only those contries.
