Default The Black Shell Trophy - Final Round

Here we are guys!
This thread is for discussing the developing of the championship. This very first post will be edited by me before and after every round with current standings and/or next appointment details, so I'm repeating the championship rules, links and infos on the second post.

The Black Shell Trophy, winner: KnucklesSonic8

Final standings

1 KnucklesSonic8 101 [9,8,5] [3,4,0]
2 Trapster 89 [8,4,8] [3,1,1]

5 neuzd +7 7

7 Jogurt the Yogurt +5 5
np Mendez +0 0
np Flamin Skull +0 0

notes:
Mendez and Flamin Skull failed to show up so they're still in the championship but they have received 0 points. A very sad thing we couldn't make it as planned. We're looking for you guys to take over this unlucky start.

2nd round results: (take 2)

np The shoemaker +0 0

np Flamin Skull +0 0

notes
Several people didn't make it; we were in 7 but as soon as each of both cup started Mr Rodriguez lost connection, so we raced in 6.

5 Tull +7 51
6 Jogurt the Yogurt +6 39
6 Kevin +6 21
8 psxbackupuk +4 48
9 neuzd +3 48
np Slayerking45 +0 37
np The shoemaker +0 0
np Flamin Skull +0 0

notes
This time was quite fun. 9 people showed up and the cups have been the typical Mario kart mess one would expect. The top positions seems already established, but there are several challengers for the third place.
This is turning out fun, despite my really bad performances (I finished last 3 times in a row during the Leaf Cup).
We'll see how it will end, most likely next week.

5th round results:
Lightning Cup

1 Trapster +15 89
2 KnucklesSonic8 +12 101
3 Kevin +10 31
4 neuzd +8 56
5 Tull +7 58
6 Mendez +6 22
7 Slayerking45 +5 42
ret Jogurt the Yogurt +0 39
np psxbackupuk +0 48
np Mr.Rodriguez +0 19
np Flamin Skull +0 0
np The shoemaker +0 0

notes
Unfortunately Jogurt lost connection after a couple of races, that's sad we only had one cup left and there was no chance to join again.
Anyway, the championship is over, the podium is for KnucklesSonic8, Trapster and Tull; congratulations to them and to anyone who participated.
I hope you enjoyed it as I did hosting it.

See you for the next edition or...something else.

Default The Black Shell Trophy's companion post

Rules
- Choose the track to race on, according to the regular order of the tracks in the cup we're racing, so that everyone selects the same track.
- At the end of the cup, take note of your final position and points.

General Infos
I (neuzd) am hosting the championship, so once you're connected enter the room I created.
We'll be waiting for everyone to join before starting, while we're keeping ourselves in touch in the chat room, we can decide to start if someone didn't show up for too long.
Don't be too late and if you can it will be wise to connect to the chat some times earlier.

Good luck to everyone (me in particular, after reading your taunts I got pretty worried).

Here are my stats. I did better than I thought I would! (I mean, I came in last, but not by as much as I thought I would. You guys are all Mario Kart players, and I don't even like the game!)

5th (3pts), 6th (+1 = 4pts), 5th (+3 = 7pts), 7th (+0 = 7pts).

My Results - Mushroom Cup:
Luigi Circuit - 1st, +15 (15)
Moo Moo Neadows - 3rd, +7 (22)
Mushroom Gorge - 2nd, +10 (32)
Toad's Factory - 5th, +3 (35)
OVERALL: 2nd - 35 Points.

I'm still ticked I won the First Two in Flower only to have the room terminated. >_>

Very important for those who stayed in the chat yesterday and kept chatting.

The next round is NOT tonight.
I forgot I already knew of a birthday party I must attend, I may also be able to get home for that time, but I'm not sure so, it will most likely be next Sunday.

In a couple of days I'll be updating for Round 2.

How on earth did I forget?!
We had a takeaway and watched a film last night and it just completely slipped my mind...
Ah well, I guess I'll try and catch up in round 2.

First post updated with details on round 2.

VERY IMPORTANT
Because Flamin Skull didn't show up at the championship and he's missing from the forums too since the week started, I think we need to wait for his confirmation.
I don't know why he's missing, he's generally online every second of the day, I hope there's nothing bad in his absence.

Keep yourself ready, but I hope you all agree in waiting for an answer from him.

Be also warned that from this time on, we're racing 2 cups per round (that's just another 15 minutes play, c'mon!).

Yeah, I got nothing against playing 2 cups each time.

Hm. I donŽt get what the numbers after my name in the rank list are. Well, except for that 8. Man, IŽll be SO ashamed if I donŽt win this tournament.

That's your score. [EDIT: I just realized that the 8 was the only thing you knew about...well, the others are explained, read more carefully the first post]
Each cup counts as an event, and points are assigned to each player after the cup, considering their final position.

We're not using the points given during the cups because that pattern varies in relation of the number of the players.
For instance, the last cup we were in 7; who arrived 2nd in a race have received 10 points. If we were in 12 the seconds receives 12 points, though.
So because the number of the players may change from one round to another, it makes no sense to use those points.
Another reason is that the starting grid position is determined by the result in the previous race and this will get lost when moving to another cup, when the points are resetted.

The only thing that we could change about the scoring system is that i used that based on 12 players, while we are just in 9 for this tournament.
If we decide to change it (but I have stil to figure out how the points pattern is, in 9), we must decide it before the second round, and keep in mind that if we do so no one can enter the tournament later on.

12p scoring system is good. No need to cap the players yet imo.
Some one might join in on the fun

No, the category is chosen based on the players experience, though I admit I don't know what's most important, if unlocking staff ghosts, having lots of points in multi, the cups you won or the ranking you have...

We raced our first cup in 100cc so, it seems unlikely that we do some mirror, I would vote for 150cc always, if I could.

I would always vote for 50cc if I could.

What's a mirror track?

We're meeting anyway, Flamin did appear some days ago, and I told him about the championship.

Then I didn't see him again, but I hope he remembers to show up.

No problem, you're just one cup behind, but be warned that next round is in less than 24 hours.

sounds simple enough, but I don't quite get it. is it just racing on 2 cups then recording your scores?

Well, it should be done for each cup, but I found a simpler and faster method: taking a picture of the result screen.
But if something goes wrong, it's smart to have everybody know at least their final position and points.

I was able to keep track of my points and position after every race and my total after the Cup with great ease. I don't see why everyone else wouldn't be able to do the same.
