Default Official FE: Radiant Dawn Topic (KEEP ALL POSTS IN HERE UNLESS ITS A POLL + SPOILERS)

Yup, its coming down stateside November 5 this year! So I thought I'd give you all a rundown on the game:

Ike, Mist, Elincia, Sothe, and Sanaki return as main playable characters.
The Mysterious Light Mage Micaiah comes around as the second most important character in the game.
THE BLACK KNIGHT RETURNS.

This is all I should tell you. I don't want to spoil everything.

It'll be nice to have some more FMV cut-scenes. Although well-made, the ones in Path of Radiance were rather sparse.

Looking at screenshots of the game, it looks almost exactly like its predecessor. Not that I really mind. Once I'm into the game I'd hardly notice, anyways. I'll also probably turn off the battle animations. While they may look nice, they seemingly take a long time.

I still have to finish Path of Radiance's last mission. I was put off that I lost because I stupidly created an opening so that Elincia could be killed, after I already cleared 85% of that mission. I should have another go at it.

I sure hope they'll keep making more FE games after this. The console games are by far superior over the handheld titles. It's one of the very few games in which I get attached to the characters because of that permanent death thing. Heh.

I'm hoping for an EU release. The game looks good, and I believe the previous (Gamecube) game came out in Europe, so it's possible.

I just read IGN's review and once again I have to shake my head when reading idiotic things such as this:

To call Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn a Wii game is to take the meaning of that statement as literal as possible. Yes, it runs on Wii, comes in a cute white box, and you’ll pay $49.99 for it. From there, however, the experience is anything but Wii-like, as the game uses no motion, no IR, no Mii integration, and no online.

What is it with people wanting waggling crap in every bleeping game? Does it make sense in a turn-based strategy game? **** no! Don't even get me started on the retarded Miis.

The only reasonable critique there is the non-existent IR functionality. For online games I'd rather have the original Fire Emblem remake for the DS have it, since it's not restricted by stupid regions.

I agree. In a game like Fire Emblem they should've used the IR functions simply to point where you want to move your characters. Brawl is geared more towards the traditional game pad. I seriously hope they are not going to knock points off because Brawl doesn't use waggle.

Got the game today. Yup, the overall look is pretty much the same as in the prequel. I haven't gotten to deal yet with the added nuances of the game other than height difference in one map, since I've only played the first couple of missions (and managed to fail one out of stupidity). The game works splendidly just with the Wiimote.

Supposedly, I should have been able to get bonuses from transferring my finished Path of Radiance save file from my cube memory card, but the game froze every time I tried to do it, so I stopped trying. =/

Bought it on Tuesday and must say that it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. Do you have an easy file on PoR? If so, GET RID OF ALL OF THEM if you want it to work. Of course, you will also need a Normal or Hard complete file as well.

I'm wondering whether I only played through it in easy, since I'm playing Radiant Dawn in normal right now, and it's been whooping my ass a lot even in these earlier missions. =D

I've started out on easy in almost every Fire Emblem game I've played. And then I move up to Normal... then hard... then maniac and also enjoy the little videos in the theatre. I don't get why people say the Fire Emblem series doesn't have a high replay value. They probably thought it was too hard. XD

Hi all,

Just reviving this thread. I picked up the game on the Amazon Gold Box deal last week. All I can say is wow this game is tough! I'm playing on Normal and am only in Chapter 2 and have died countless times.

I finally started doing Battle Saves so I don't have to go through tons of dialog again.

I'm impressed with the game. I never played the GC version and have only played FE on the GBA in the past.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting killed a lot on Normal?

Yeah I'm actually very interested in this game. Too many games me wants. This one, brawl, Mario kart wii, wiiware, Metroid Prime hunters, wind waker... I just don't want to waste all my money on games, but all I want is games!

This game is one of the best I have played in years. It inspired me to go out and get Path of Radiance. Radiant Dawn is actually far harder than its GCN seriesmate. I blew through PoR without very much difficulty on Normal mode, except for a couple of key chapters. Since it was so smooth, I'll probably go through it again (with growth rate bands so I can finish with better stats) before importing my data to RD.

I just re bought the game today. I Actually bought it near a month ago, but it started screwing up and displaying a bunch of error pages, so i had to return it, then i got my new copy today. it is such a great game, i don't know why I never bought it earlier on. Actually the main reason i bought it was because Jogurt kept going on and on, on how great the game is, and he is correct. Strategy RPG's have become my favorite type, as it's more than just selecting what attack to make. And Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn Just makes the RPG elements better than I've ever imagined. I'm gonna have to get path of radiance sometime or an other, becuase I need to see how it all begain, also it will be nice to see the added features coming from the Path of Radiance save file.

Yeah, Radiant Dawn is what made me go back and find Path of Radiance too. It was quite hard to find around here, with used copies coming in around $50, and just as expensive on eBay. I finally found a new sealed copy on the shelf at WalMart around my birthday for about the same price as the used copies at EB, so I got it.

I found another copy a couple months later in the local classifieds and picked it up as well, just in case, so if you're ever having trouble finding a copy just let me know.

Path of Radiance was one of the first games I picked up for my Wii when I got the console last spring. Surprisingly, I found a (at the time) cheap used copy that was in immaculate condition. Guess I was just lucky there.

As for Radiant Dawn, it's also a great game and definitely one of the better ones on Wii. I tend to play it on and off. There's no telling how long it'll actually take me to beat the game...
