Default Turn-Based RPG's on Wii?

Are there any of these available for Wii that any of you would recommend?

Feels like RPG's is going a bit downhill lately, only game I can think of is Fire Emblem. Haven't played it though so I don't know if I can recommend it. Fast Google brings up: this list

I appreciate the list, the only problem is I don't think any of these are turn based...must not be too many of them around...Super Paper Mario as RPG??....naaahhh

Paper Mario series is considered a RPG indeed, and if you only want turn-based your choice is even more limited. Reason I don't suggest one's that good is because there probably isn't any beside Fire Emblem that's worth mentioning. RPG market have been dry in these years of Western Dominance.

Yeah, Opoona gets praise wherever I go...from actual RPG players and normal gamers, that is. Reviews tend to bash it for the cutsy style and stuff...

You are right about that, but the only thing I don't understand is that the turn based ones sold by the boatloads as well. They abandoned that part of the genre and it makes no sense. FF X was one of my favorites, and it sold a lot over here in the Western Hemisphere...I just don't get it...Anyway, Fire Emblem is turn based then?

Fire Emblem is a turn-based strategy game like Final Fantasy Tactics.

Ah, thanks for telling me that. The last strategy RPG I played and actually liked was Vandal Hearts, but I don't care too much for that genre anymore. Turn based like FF 7, 8, 9 and X are the kinds of RPG's I want...i guess they call them jrpg's or something?

JRPGs don't necessarily have to be turn-based and Western RPGs don't need to be in real-time.

Oh and "RPGs" doesn't need a '

FIRE EMBLEM: RADIANT DAWN

Best Game I've ever played. If you want turned based, this is your game. I'd say it's the same as a Final Fantasy game, but this are a bit more complicated. Really it's the same as the genre your explaining, but you must move your characters, and there's much more enemies. If you're looking for difficully, this game's got it, if you're looking for a story that keeps you guessing 'till the end, you got it, if you're looking for expansive and fun gameplay, you got it, if yo're looking for amazing cut sceens, you got it. Radiant Dawn is an amazing game.

How lost would I be playing this without ever playing a Fire Emblem game? Or is it a stand-alone title?

It's the second part of Gamecube's FIRE EMBLEM: PATH OF RADIANCE

I say play the Gamecube story first and then the Wii version.
But buy both as soon as possible.

Super Paper Mario is not an RPG. The series might traditionally be an RPG series, but this game is not an RPG.

The best Wii game is Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Playing the GCN one first would be great, but it's not necessary to understand the Wii one. I played the Wii one first (it was my first FE game), and then I went back and played the GCN one. Loved them both.

I too played The Wii one first, and I'm currently playing the Gamecube one. Although if you play the Wii one first you'll understand the game enough, it's better to play the gamecube one first. This way you won't get any of it's story spoiled by the second, and you'll get to see how the series and characters grew over the years.

I had a little trouble finding Path of Radiance, but I noticed the other day that PnP games has several titles availible. If that store's in your region, you should check it out.

I dont 'love' RPG's, but I have to say FE: Radiant Dawn has really impressed me, I like the battle and tactics in it very much unlike most Rpg's these days.
The story in it is also very strong and the music 'royal'.

Even if I havent played Path of Radiance (GC) which I will in the future, its not a problem to begin with this one in general, I never played a FE game before and began with Normal mode, I understood it in no time. As for the story you can get spoiled a bit before playing the GC one though.

The only minor thing about this game are the in game battle graphics, but that didnt mind me too much, because its just a very little detail to a very great game.

Yeah, it truly is a great game. Everyone who's played it here seams to like it, but I've noticed that several people on other boards just hate it. I don't understand the hate, it's an amazing title.

I'm going to start playing it tomorrow. I've read through the manual and it all looks very deep. I have a day off so I can spend a good amount of time getting used to it all and going through the tutorials.

Just my two cents. I tried out the Fire Emblem games on the GBA and it failed to grab my interest. So when I saw Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn out for the Wii, I was very skeptical. I was again prepared to not like this series. But my mind was completely changed once I saw how great this game was, and now I'm willing to give myself the Fire Emblem series a second chance. I already bought four titles so far in the series, I just need to find a time to get to play them. Haha.

Just the only one thing I never understood in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn was the Support System or whatever it's called. Everyone was at C or F rankings when I beaten the game. I need to replay this game again one of these days and try to figure it out for real.

Theres an easier way to find out is to read the instructions & being a Nintendo game the instructions should be better than average .

Reading instructions helped me to learn about some features & how they worked without having to take months to figure them out .
Take when i got Final Fantasy Tatics Advance with the status effects .
I would have never figured the simbols out without the instructions but with the instructions it helped out .

So instructions is basicly a must read .

It doesn't take too long to understand. Just go through the tutorials and then your tactics will form from there.

I didn't need them. But then again, it's taken me three playthroughs to understand the majority of the menu's and stats.

I have a PDF of the instructions from my rental place and it makes no mention of the support system.

Oh well, it was still fun! Now that I know how everything works the game is too easy.
