Do any of you have the charge station made by Nyko for your Wiimotes? Mine are always on the fritz...is this just a bad one i have, or do they all do the same?

I have no experience with that one, but a good alternative would be to just pick up 4 (or however many you need) rechargeable batteries and just keep them rotating into your remote.

Yeah, I thought of that. After the fact, of course....paid 50.00 for that stupid 3rd party crap...should have known better. I've always bought first party stuff, but Nintendo didn't have anything for recharging remotes, so i was stuck with Nyko's

I have the Nyko Charge Station and love it. It's finally starting to give us trouble after 2 years of ownership, but considering we paid $35 for it (and it gave us 2 years of trouble-free charging) I'm not too upset. The specific trouble is that the battery packs hold much shorter charges. I've been meaning to look into battery pack replacements, but it's not that bad yet.

You can see different comments over at the Amazon page for the product. Overall it's positive, but there's not a few comments about shoddiness.

Who in the world charged you $50 for it? Or do you have a different model? Did you keep your receipt?

The trick to making it work for me is odd. I don't know if it will hurt the object of you ut it helps it start recharging...
1) Look at the contacts on the battery if its dirty I would suggest using a tac to scrape it till its a bit lighter and golder.
2) If it does not recharge by doing that it may sound weird but lick the battery contact <_< and then lick your thumb put it over the contact on the charge station part (hold it there for like 5 seconds and it should glow just from that)
3) It should make that charging buzzing sound (thats how you know its charging its really low and means it will charge as long as it needs to)

Also there is a quad nyko charge station that charges 4 maybe he got that one for $50.

I apologize, I must reiterate...I have two 2-station chargers which I bought for 39.99 a piece. So technically, 80 bucks. They will be sitting on the chargers, then all of a sudden change from green to blue without me using them. I'll play Twilight Princess for a whole day, and my bars will be at two when I take it back to the charger. I'll play de Blob for like three hours, and it'll be red....Put it on charger and it will be green within 2 minutes....I can't figure it out.

You could have gotten a set o 4 Energizers NI-MH batterys & then shop around for a half deceint charger that basically charges each individual battery as at least some of energizers chargers charges them in pairs only .
The main downfall of the after market charging stands are that they only charge in pairs as noted of only having 2 termanials .
You could have one flat & one somewhat charged battery & if they were charged as pairs the somewhat charged one gets fully charged but the flat one only get half a charge .

Yea thats happen to me to forgot to mention it. That really made me mad when i would put it on the charger and it says the batteries charged when i kno its not. What i would do is just take out the battery clean it off and leave it out of the remote for a day or two that usually worked for me.

If you have your receipt, take it back to the store and ask for a refund. If it's a recent purchase, it shouldn't be a problem. If it's an older purchase, they may insist on giving you a store credit instead.

If you don't have your receipt, you can try to take it back to the store and see if they will give you an in-store credit anyway. Worthwhile if the store has $80 worth of stuff you would buy anyways (and if they are still overcharging that much for the charge stations--they will only give you ask much store credit as the current price for the product).

If you are not in the habit of saving receipts, now is a good time to start. ;] I have a canvass bag I keep mine in.

Perhaps the contact between the wiimotes and charger is getting broken. Whenever I pick up a fully charged wiimote and immediately sit it back down on the base, the base light will turn blue. Check to see if the metal bits on the back of the wiimote and the charge station are clean. If they're clean, is the charger on a stable surface? A bit of jostling may move the remote just enough to break the contact before it settles back in again.

Is this the same remote? Rechargeable batteries slowly lose their ability to hold a charge over time, so one battery pack may be holding a longer charge, letting you play longer, while another holds a shorter charge, running out of power sooner. One of our charge packs is holding its charge much better than the other.

I'll try that, thanks for the input. Overall, it was still a better way to go than replenishing batteries every other day...money well spent for the most part. I've got one remote that will be fully charged, but after three or four matches on Brawl, it pops up on screen with need new battery message.

Yeah, batteries are crazy expensive, and the Wii eats through them like nobody's business. My charger has lasted 2 years, so about $1.50 a month--much cheaper than batteries.

Yeah, I will have had mine for 2 years this May. Probably time to replace the battery packs themselves, huh?

I've had this station when I first got my Wii in 2007, and I've had no problems with it. It might be because yours is older. My suggestion is just to go with rechargeable batteries.

Meh. Specialty chargers of any kind aren't worth it, imo. As mentioned, one can get much better use out of regular rechargeable batteries.

That's true & still great value for money.
A set of 4 lasted me 2 & 1/2 years before one on them started to cark it & $20 Aud for a set of 4 energizer NI-MH is worth it.

Your initial cost was what? Yeah, you can get rechargeable batteries for $20, but what did the charger run?

Charger which charges 4 batterys individly of ni-cad ni-mh & recharable alkalines cost $50 aud.
While energizer sells charger & battery bundles for $50 but the chargers tend to charge in pairs & only charges ni-mh.
My charger Is Jaycar's inhousr Jaytec brand while it's pretty cheap but somehow it's reliable

you get 4, then rotate them out? use 2, then when they go dead, use the other 2 while the first 2 are charging?

Yeah, although they usually only take an hour to charge, so unless there's some kind of multiplayer emergency the 4 batteries can be used to power 2 remotes at pretty much any time.

We used rechargeable batteries on our wiimotes before getting the station. Pain in the ass, as far as I'm concerned. For 2 years, all we've had to do with our remotes is pick 'em off the charger when we want to play, and stick 'em back on when we're done. No switching out of batteries...or losing the remotes, for that matter.

The batteries took forever to charge, too, but they're ancient. Came with some digicam my Dad bought ages ago and I inherited because I'm too cheap to buy my own non-video-game electronics.

I wonder how long the battery packs should last before buying new ones?

I don't see anything wrong myself as i use Energizers myself .
Just pop a pair in use them for a few days then take them out for a charge then pop another pair in while the other pair is charging .
