Source? I can't see anything about it on Nintendolife (as poor as they are they do report stories pretty quick), IGN, Kotaku, Nintendo's site.

I know there was a slip up by some Nintendo employee recently but I haven't seen anything about it today?

That's from a couple weeks ago though and it's the news story I mentioned, Hayes posted as if there had just been an official confirmation by Nintendo

It was on the Nintendo site here in Canada, but now when I go back its not there anymore. Probably a screw up and posted ahead of an official announcement then removed to cover one's ass.

Yes, selling HD versions of Game Cube games like Sony has done (PS2 HD versions for PS3)

Most of those wouldn't be on the "VC" then, especially if Nintendo is still going with a tiny HDD this gen. If anything, upgraded GCN ports (and maybe upgraded Wii ports) will be released on disc.

I agree. That's not awful, though, for gamers that want x game. But it is probably costlier...

Why not ? I think Game Cube games are old enough to normally enter the Wii U´s Virtual Console.

Wii U without the possibility of using Hard Disk would be a huge delay on the part of Nintendo.

Precedent, and $$$. Most last-gen games coming out on current-gen systems are being released on retail compilations, because they can get away with charging more for them. I believe it also gives them some flexibility to update the games slightly. There are a couple of exceptions. It could go either way: on one hand, Nintendo doesn't give a **** about adding new features, but they did do the upgrade thing with the New Play Control series.

I'm hoping for a rerelease of Cubivore, but otherwise, yeah it's a total ripoff.

Fat chance. We'll be waiting years for rereleases of certain popular Nintendo games much less rereleases of super-niche games.

I dunno, there's an EXTREMELY small chance, but looking at the GC rereleases for the Wii, Nintendo picked stuff like Chibi Robo and Pikmin over Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

OK, I'm completely deluding myself.

Pikmin and Chibi Robo were both developed by Nintendo and published by Nintendo in Japan and in North America. Pikmin had a sequel and had its popularity boosted by Olimar's inclusion in SSBB. Chibi Robo had a DS sequel. Additionally, Sunshine and SSBM weren't going to be ported because there were already improved "sequels" on the Wii (Galaxy and SSBB), so it would have been bad for business to spend a lot of money releasing older, obsolescent versions of those games.

Cubivore was developed by a now-defunct second-party company and published by Atlus in North America, and has never been seen or heard from since.

The chances are extremely small, like you said. But I guess if you want to get all Kurachi on us, sure, there's no way to prove a negative. No one is ever going to prove that it's never coming out. But it is possible to make informed predictions, and all informed predictions point to it being a giant waste of time and intellect hoping for that game to come out.

Now thats just sad. You cant even make decent amount of cash like 15-20 dollars. This is why i dislike ebay... you hardly make anything unless the prices are set really high (a lot of it goes to ebay's maintenance and employees before us).

umm [raises hand] . Of course. It's one of the best features. The only trouble is that most Cube games don't support widescreen, and the stretched images makes playing more difficult than it should be. Other than that, it's great.

Why on earth would you have to play with a stretched image? Just change your TV settings.

Exactly.
Most TV's have it easily assessable via a single button on the remote.

This is STILL a debate? 0.o

Either buy a GC, keep your Wii or put up with over priced VC versions. Pricey maybe, but can't imagine as much as say, a fair few Games onDemand on XBLA or PSN (You can buy downloadable retail PS3 games on PSN right?). ;P

Only a small handfull as a re-release like Assassins Creed I&II & Burnout Paradise for example but remember to take into consideration in yopur internet connection type.
Cable= Yes you can download
ADSL= Dont even bother it as it would time out all the time.
Dial-up= I thought only the elderly are the only ones that use Dial-up?
