Wii-Scores.com Development Thread

I see that the high score topic on this forum is pretty popular and I was thinking ; would it be nice if there was a website where you could login and input all your vc high scores. The scores your be automaticly updated into a database so you could see the top scores of all the players and games.

I don't have time to invest in such a project but it would be pretty neat if such a website would exist. It's just an idea.

That does sound like a pretty spiffy idea, the only real problem I have with it is that it would have to rely on the honor-system =/

However, it would be pretty sweet if Nintendo and other developers made WiiWare games that had online scoreboards, like XBox Live Arcade

Yea official scoreboards like Xbox Live would be the best. I hope that they will implement that someday.

hmm... This may be a good test of my skills. Maybe next week when I have a bit of time I could look into this idea...

I would definitely use it a lot if it happened, it's a fantastic idea and would give me something to aim for with my games! (If I have a target, I always seem to play better )

I would certainly use it, the only problem I can think of is people lying about their scores

There would be some people lying about their scores for sure, but we would still be able to have a good idea how good we are compared to the majority.

It could also be fun to have some achievement points and gain ranks or something. ex : get 101% at DKC, get to round 50 at Urban Champion etc...

We would be relying on being honest that's true...

Bandwidth... yeah, could be a problem if the site became 'the place to go'.... with 1000's of hits per day, but that shouldn't happen in an instant. Anyway, it's a maybe - maybe not, dependent on the demand and how much time I have in between work to set up such a system.

It'd be quite complex with a database backend and all, and I've never designed for the Wii browser specifically before. Although it would certainly be a challenge.

Any other thoughts?

I would use it way too much but, isn't that a good thing?
