Hey guys,
Im having a bit of trouble playing my wii on my projector. Now its nothing to do with the video, or actual running of the wii. Its the IR pointer/sensor bar. I cant play games like RE: UC or anything that uses the pointer really, the IR is just too slow and laggy, its unplayable. Im not sure if its because the projection on the wall is just too big for the wii to handle or what.. My sensor bar is in the middle of the projection at the bottom, since it would be impossible to mount it at the top of my wall in the center. Ive tried mucking around with the sensitivity option in settings.. but im not sure its doing anything, or i havent noticed any changes at least. Note: this is only when i play the wii on my projector, on normal TV's everything runs 100% fine. If anyone could help, knows of any settings, any tips or anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks p.s - just ordered some composet cables, cant wait to see the difference |

Maybe a wireless sensor bar (for 10-15 euros) would help, gives you more options to position it in the room. I've stationed mine not directly beneath, but a little in front of the projection area, which works just fine with my beamer-wii-setup.
Good luck, Bananiac

Is the picture too big for you to point at all four corners of the screen without the pointer disappearing? I don't think the Wii was ever designed for such a big screen - though you can still use the pointer, it won't be like pointing at areas on the screen.
About the IR lag - it sounds as if your projector is putting a slight delay on the image. That is, the signal going in takes a short time to be processed into the digital image that is then projected. I've seen similar things happen when playing the Wii through my DVD recorder, which introduces a half-second lag - enough to mess up any game! There's nothing you can do about it, unless the game you're playing has an adjustment for this. Guitar Hero 2 on the XBox 360 has a screen calibration option, but there's nothing in the Wii menus that can compensate for the lag. |

For comparison, hook up your Wii to a standard TV and play from the same distance than when using the projector (mainly disctance Wii Remote <-> Sensor Bar).
It gets a little cherky and stuff with greater distance, you may try Ben Heckendorns advice, put a infrared source left and right of the screen, about 2/3 to the top, and set the Sensorbar Position to "On Top of TV". You may need some seperate LEDs and stuff to pull it off.
