Default VC Titles not working with component

I recently bought a new HD-ready TV with Wii Component cables to match, and although the resolution is way better now, my NES, SNES, MD (and perhaps TG-16) VC titles won't work anymore. When I start them the screen will blink on and off on a frozen image. How can I fix this? Setting my TV-type back to 60Hz (480i) doesn't work. Do I have to plug my RGB-cable back in just to play these VC games?

PS. I wasn't sure which board to post this, but I figured Wii hardware was a safe bet.

EDIT:: I checked the RGB cable on my new TV but it wouldn't give a clear image on my VC games either.

I've heard of this problem before but I use component on my HDTV and never had a problem. What type of TV have you got?

I have a Samsung LE26S81B.

Anyway, for some reason composite will work, so now I can at least switch to using that if I want to play Virtual Console. It's still a pain though. Emailed Nintendo about it, hopefully they have an answer.

Wii Component Cable Interlace mode

The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously.

The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead.

Wierd, I have a Samsung as well, never had the problem, the screen just flickers a bit for a few seconds and then I get a good picture. The only possible difference I can think of is that I have a 3rd-party component cable (because the Nintendo ones were out of stock at the beginning). The component cable interlace mode is supposed to be a temporary fix, hopefully they'll fix it perminantly soon.

It won't affect you, it only affects PAL systems (so people in Europe and Australia).

Wouldn't it be better to make a list of those that don't include it? Every new title seems to be including it except the TurboGrafx games, according to that list.

I am also experiencing this same problem.
The "Interlace Mode" fixed some games, but not all of them. I just send Nintendo an email about this problem, and requesting them to fix it.

I also have a Samsung TV. Is it just Samsung that's experiencing this problem? This brand seems to come up quite alot when discussing this problem.

I think that problem only happens when the game is unable to run in 60Hz (That meens all Downloaded VC-Titles in PAL-Land without PCE and Wii Software).

I believe Super Mario World is optimized to run at 60Hz, and that doesn't work for me.
Could be wrong though.

Super Mario World was only "optimized" by [poorly] stretching the display vertically, so the borders would look smaller... But this caused some tearing in the vertical scrolling as well as certain blurry files of pixels, so it's more of a nuisance, really. It hasn't even been updated to support interlace mode, which is quite a wierd move on their behalf, being one of their main important titles in the VC.

Only the Turbografx games can run at 60Hz in the Wii's VC. Neo-Geo games could theorically be run at 60Hz as well, due to its games sharing ROMs worldwide just like the TGX, and the same happens with many MegaDrive games (3/4 of the current releases) or certain NES titles, for example, but they don't seem to care much about it at the moment.

I always suggest, to anybody concerned, sending Nintendo or SEGA an email about this; the more people they see demanding a 60Hz mode, the better. And also, 50Hz are just much worse for your eyes (playing a N64 game in 50Hz for a few hours can be a pain, literally!).

And the switching of frequencies does the video hardware no good, also is there the problem that many HDTV cannot work with that kind of signal over Component.

I guess that's why some X-Box Live Arcade games show a custom border around the old games, to accomodate to the more standard resolutions used by today's TV's...

There should really be an option for this, as it might get rid of half the problems.
