I've never been a huge fan of the Zelda series, to be honest, but I really enjoyed Ocarina of Time, and to me, TP only improves on it, so yes, I'd say TP is the best so far.

I haven't played Windwaker yet though, and that may change my mind.

Personally I think Link to the Past is the best Zelda but out of the 3D zeldas I do like Twilight Princess the best, I loved Wind Waker too.

Heck they are all good!

A Link to the Past was my first deep aprroach to a Nintendo game.
I will never forget the times I felt suprised for something I never thought could be in a videogame. Was it plot developing or the many -super easy- ways to use a particular item.

It's one of my favourite games ever, so TP follows in a respectable second place, though I'm getting a bit tired of this gameplay, fortunately Phantom Hourglass is already a breath of fresh air, and the promises for the next Zelda are finally those of a NEW game.
I'm willing to see a game to be better than aLttP, I don't want it to be the best Zelda forever....

TP is the best. Not only did it improve on OoT, it revolutionized Zelda again.

I really hate when people compare TP with OoT, like in Gamefaqs (urgh!) because it just looks "similar"...

When I played TP was like playing A link to the past again. It gave me the same feeling after many years, and I didn't see any similarity with OoT except the obvious ones.

It's a hard choice, because Wind Waker is THE game for GC, but I consider TP the best zelda game to date (despite what OoT fanboys will say next)

OOT. TP doesn't even make my top 5. Hell, I think it only makes my top 10 'cause there's only been 11 Zelda games plus the CDI games.

Thumbs down Big pile of ganon poo

I have been a huge fan of the zelda series ever since the first one way back in the mid-eighties and ive enjoyed almost every one since but for me TP was a big dissapointment. It just felt like a re-hashed OOT, and what was up with all that wolf crap? How pointless and boring was that? and dont even get me started on that annoying grey thing that followed you around the whole frickin game, she just got on my nerves. In my opinion TP gets 2/5.

It's the first Zelda I've owned (not counting Emulators) as I was a Sega guy, but its a great game.

I'm crossing the desert now and was shocked to hear after 30 hours I'm only half way through the game .

Wind Waker - being the most original departure from the regular formula - would have won out if the ferrying about hadn't been quite as tedious at times (and the backdrops not quite as blurry). For me Twilight Princess is definitely the best Zelda game I've played so far. It may have similarities with OoT and LttP, but the environments, assortment of characters, and quests are substantially different from the aforementioned titles.

Playing as a wolf brought something new to the table. I kind of liked Midna, no matter how annoying she may have come across at times.

I'm not sure... Twilight Princess felt a little too easy at times. But it could be that I'm just used to the type of puzzles to expect in Zelda games... I've got to say that the contorl system is absolutely incredible, and I've never felt as involved in a game as I did playing TP.

I feel OoT has the edge of it though, the scale seems much bigger, and the difficulty higher..

Well, it is built on exactly the same game engine.

I find it interesting that you say that, because TP is clearly the larger game. The world is bigger and more cohesive, and the scale of the environments and the bosses is much greater than in OoT. It's one of the things I like most about TP; it took a well-realised, but rather cramped, world and expanded it.

For my part, I felt the addition of the wolf to TP was a good touch, and I actually enjoyed playing the game more as the wolf. I didn't think they did a great job of differentiating the light and twilight realms (something more twisted, like the netherworld of the Soul Reaver series, or the demonic world of Silent Hill, would have been nice, I think), but on the whole, I've found TP to be a superb game.

As for being "too easy", I still haven't managed to complete the hookshot mini-game!

As I say, I haven't played Windwaker, but I adore the graphical style, and if it's anywhere near as playable as OoT and TP (again, the same engine), it'll most likely supplant them in my eyes.

Are you sure about that? OoT seems rather confined to me. The world isn't nearly as big as in TP.

I agree with Dazza on this - A Link to the Past will always be my favourite Zelda.

I do find TP better than OoT though (Which I honestly find vastly overrated - It's a great game, but if you ask me all other 3D Zeldas + ALttP and Link's Awakening beat it).

First of all TP was much bigger than oot. Well I played oot after TP so it felt like a downgrade. But I think oot is harder than tp because of the extra stuff. In tp i thought there was to much money which you didnt need. But i have 4 reasons why tp is better: better graphics, better control of the game, bigger world and that crazy music that gets you all pumped up.

I had only really played all the handheld Zelda games up until got got Twilight Priness for the Wii which i thought was awesome, it was the first 3D Zelda i had played and its now got me playing Ocarina of Time on the virtual console which so far i think is great as well.

So far Twilight Priness has my vote for the best zelda ^_^.

For me, Wind Waker and Majora were the best.
Their worlds were full of "living" characters and many quests astray from the main game.

Twilight Princess wasn't all that impressive gameplay-wise, but graphically it's the best one.
And also it's got a nice batch of tunes but nothing as remarkable as Wind Waker, Majora and other Zelda games.

I was disappointed a bit cause there was too much recycling and it felt unfinished:
Not one single fish in all the rivers and that whole Hylia lake??? Why do I have a fishing rod??
And no instrument to change day to night? Why must I stop playing 10 minutes and wait before going on a ghost hunt?
Can't talk to Hyrules inhabitants? I always thought Link is the only silent guy!

Anyway, it's a great game but not the best Zelda.

The game did not improve thing's enougth and felt dated even compared to something like shenmue.

Is it weird if I say that all four 3D Zeldas are the best?
Twilight is technically the best and is the biggest, but Ocarina was more revolutionary and advanced for its time, but Majora had the most intuitive puzzles and side-quests, but Wind Waker had the best style.

So which one do I choose? Actually, on second thoughts I'll go with Ocarina.

Majora's Mask gets some bonus credit for being more original in its story. Rarely do you see a Zelda game that has nothing to do with Ganon or the triforce or the Princess of Hyrule. Majora's Mask branched off a vein in a new direction, which I liked.

I really would like to play MM someday. From what I've read/heard it could easily beats the pants off OoT, which I certainly do not consider the best. The latter may have revolutionized the franchise, but mere nostalgia doesn't make it the best.

In my mind TP is the best Zelda due to its sheer length and the enjoyment I got from playing it was only matched by seeing the series in 3D for the first time.
While I honestly never liked any of the Zelda's prior to ALTTP I must say that of my top 5 it would go like this:
Twilight Princess
Majora's Mask
Ocarina Of Time /A Link To The Past
Wind Waker*

*While I think the combat system in the game rocked, the sailing ****ed me off too much not because of the game itself being based in water but the fact that you spent at least 20mins sailing just to find an island you could walk around in under a minute

There are plenty of fish, in all the watery areas, even inside dungeons. Not sure why you've missed them.

There's a lot of good about Twilight Princess, I like the scale of the game, the setting and the storyline are all excelent. But the whole thing is let down by the dungeons being too much like Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker, and as good as it was I couldn't help but get slightly bored with it towards the end. Which is a shame, had the other three 3D Zeldas not existed then TP might be considered the best game of all time, but as it is there's not enough new.

My favourite Zelda is still Ocarina of Time, I'll never forget playing that for the first time.

I don't missed them. I put the game upside down! I looked into every last pond, every little puddle!
And indeed they were a few minor places where you could get some fish. But most of them you could already get in the fishing pond area.

It's just... the whole giant Hylia lake is EMPTY!!
The whole hyrulian river is EMPTY!
The lakes in the forest: EMPTY!
The ponds with the guardian spirits: EMPTY!

There were just so many opportunities to make this feature better....
But they weren't used!

Yeah, see I'm confused, because they're not empty at all. How strange. I've fished in all of those places. Dunno.

meh, not the best, Majora's Mask is the best 3D zelda game imo.

TP didn't really feel very rushed to me and the storyline was weak, and it feel apart near the end. Dungeon desigh was nice, nice items shame you only really used msot of them once or twice. lack of sidequests too.

The only thing that made me replay this game was glitching, because Thats why i do, I'm a member of SDA (Speedrunning site) where a bunch of us are into glitching, really made TP more fun for me.

Twilight Princess definitely has it going for graphics, sound quality, stuff like that, as well as scale. Hyrule Town has never looked more lively. My only complaint is the game tends to go on the easy side alot. The Goron mine boss, in particular, didn't even HIT me ONCE. It's so easy to beat him without getting hit.

The dungeons feel rehashed and the difficulty is far too easy for the Zelda series. I actually stopped playing in the final dungeon because I was sick of Midna telling me how to beat all the bosses after I got hit by them once. Twilight Princess is actually my least favorite Zelda game (although I never played MM).

Is it just me or are ALL of the 3D Zelda games too easy? I mean, what's with putting fairies in the FRICKING FINAL BOSS ARENA in twilight princess? And in Wind Waker i could beat the giant puppet thing with my eyes closed. The puzzles are sometimes tricky but I really want the combat to be tougher as well. Are you listening Nintendo? Put a hard mode in all future Zelda games!!!

The 2D zeldas are pretty easy as well.

In link to the Past none of puzzles are that hard and are usually very obvious compared to some of OOT better puzzles.

I twilight princess is the best zelda followed by OOT, Majora's mask(for such a branch off from the traditional zelda like no ganon and stuff like that) after that would have to be link to the past for the memories I have of it as a kid and then zelda 2 and finally links awakening for the time I had beating it on my old green screen gameboy back in the day when it first came out. Long before the days of the super gameboy or gameboy player.

Well I've only played Minish Cap (GBA) and Ocarina of Time (N64). I could take or leave Minish Cap but I think Ocarina is amazing. I've just ordered Twilight Princess from Play.com on the strength of loving Ocarina so much. I've only just played Ocarina for the first time by downloading it on Virtual Console.

I love the way these Zelda RPG games do away with the turn-based battles. That's the only thing stopping me from playing RPG titles. The turn-based battles become tedious as they force you endlessly to repeat the same thing over and over again.

The bosses in TP were very easy I totally agree, maybe I'm just used to zelda to much but I did not find any of them a real challenge. Ganon in giant pig thing mode ****ed me off but I was doing it wrong, once I figured it out I was fine. I did think though the final battle between ganon and link was awesome.

Yes I agree Twilight Princess bosses are too easy even after playing it on wii but still best zelda game yet. But that secret pit in the desert was HARD I finished with a quarter of a heart left. I don't even want to try that part on Wii.

I haven't done the cave or ordeals yet. My brother did and I think his game screwed up or something or he did with 1 last enemy to face and had to do it all over again. I heard its incredibly tough but it doesn't seem like the reward is worth it. I got one bottle of the stuff from the guy frozen in the town and used it and did not notice a big difference.

Well If you want to beat the game it's rewarding but if you go in hopeing to get a fabulous reward its not. If you want to improve your fighting skills get all of the poes all of the bottles, unlimited ultimate potion and unlimited fairys you'll wanna go in. BUT BE PREPARED!!! theres no place to get items, the enemy's don't drop hearts and theres NO place to save! There is a way out without making it all the way, but you have to start over. And don't go in without the double claw shot. So ANYWAYS yeah I'd say it's rewarding.
