Default The VC/WiiWare high score and time trials thread.

Post your Virtual Console and WiiWare scores here. Please post what difficulty your game was played on and how many lives you started with if an option to change the amount of lives you start with exists. Also, please be honest about your scores.

Yes. Did you read the last few posts in the old one...? It wasn't being updated anymore, so bowser is taking it over.

Ah, ok, I see. Can't a mod or admin just hand over the old thread to lordbowser though?

An administrator maybe could by fiddling with user permissions for a specific thread, but I couldn't. Reboots that cannibalize the old thread have tended to be the easiest and most effective way of getting one into new hands.

Three new records:

URIDIUM (C64) -
45'490!

I entered Iron with 5 lives and around 38'000 points. SKTTR I was quite confident i'd smash the record but my unfamiliarity with the level and one instant death made me pay. Only scraped in a mere 90 points ahead of you this time!

Your turn!

Update:

Alien Crush - Slow (no category for this yet)

15'875600

And finally a surely not very impressive showing on ICE CLIMBER netted me 20'850 which is apparently enough to take the record around here. Get your skates on people!

Enough with that kiddy play

Uridium 84.795

Got a pretty good run. Did it in on my first try today (at 4 am in the night).
Lots of concentration and a good portion of luck in that minigame.

Gold-6 is tough. Lost about 5 lives there.
Platinum-7 is beatable, if I had known that stage before. Unfortunately the enemy drones were a sucker this time.

Bah! That's not going to be beaten in a while I think. I find the minigame pretty easy actually. I can almost always get full points. Most of my deaths come from not paying attention and flying into something or cheap shot enemy attacks that you have no chance to avoid.

There are 15 levels in this sucker if i remember correctly but it definately rewards replay. I used to find it hard to get past level 3 but these days I almost always do the first 3 levels without dying.

I enjoy Iron for the huge number of rivets to blow up at the start of the level and rack up points.

I really hope we get Hunter's Moon on the VC soon. Uridium's graphics always remind me of it.

Do I smell a rivalry? I think I'll jump into Uridium once it gets released over here.

Also updated the list.

Yes we need to spread the cult of Uridium across the transatlantic divide.

Be warned though that you might dismiss it as crap the first time you play it. It initially seems so difficult to even last a few seconds. But there is a very deep game that rewards reflexes and learning the layout of the levels.

Once you beat a level though, you usually find you can nearly always beat it the next time. Now if I could only beat that damn Iron level!

I always get into tension at the second half of that minigame. It's mindblowing. I almost f*up everytime.

Here are some tips:

1. Pay attention!!!!!!!! ..and don't fly too fast!!!!

2. If you hear the enemy alarm sound, do a somersault or two - you are invincible when doing a somersault! That's the only chance to avoid these cheap HJ%GZJ$RFF&VK!

3. Most of the time, steer your Manta on the side. Then you're just 1/3 of the size and this reduces the chances to get blown blow up by enemy fire from 100% to 33.333%. Use it in the levels you already know by heart.
Also, you have to use it in the Iron stage I think to get past the last barrier! The passage is too narrow for your fighter to fit through in the normal position. You should get used to the side position anyway because in the later stages you absolutely need it.

4. The little things you can blow up on the dreadnoughts surfaces don't give much points. It's always better to blow up complete enemy convoys and doing a perfect score in the minigame. But in case of many destructable objects in one spot, like you mentioned (in the Iron stage), it's a good thing to blast them all away What I mean is, don't fiddle around with the difficult to reach objects, 10 or 20 points isn't worth a life.

5. Rack up extra points when clearing a stage. When the dreadnought explodes you are invincible to everything, so keep in mind to blast away the structures on the ship that you couldn't reach before.

Yeah, 15 stages. And when you beat the last one, you get a little message and it starts all over again, all over again, all over again, more points, more points, more points.

WHAT IS HUNTER'S MOOOOOON?????? ?

What spread???? The world knows it's a KILLERGAME!!
Someone who dismisses it as crap, I dismiss as crap.
Get 50.000 points and you're a respectable gamer, otherwise no!

You have to ask yourself, am I really hard to the core? Is there no heart beating in my chest?
Am I up for the frustration, the stress and the tension? Can I try harder and harder and harder?
Am I going to be a master? Or am I one of the 99% casual type human being gamers?
Do I have the force or do I have a fart?

I'm not exaggerating! If you don't press the power button 3-5 seconds after you press the start button you have good chances!

Yeah, I noticed that at the end of the Iron stage. When you fly sideways though doesn't that also make the range of your bullets narrower?

I tend to have blown up nearly everything but maybe I ought to leave some things for the flyover. I didn't realise you could still score points for them at that stage.

haha, yeah videogames or "computer games" as we knew them back then always used to do that. Theirs probably some deep philosophical point to be made about the futility of life!

Doesn't beat SKTTRS effort from yesterday but improves on my own 2nd place score. Once again Iron defeated me even with 5 lives!

I can better your total score at 269'930 but with a worse time of 51:13

I wonder if any of the ninja wannabees out there this month will be able to beat the game
