Default Wii points expiration date

Do wii points expire after a certain period of time? Or are they yours forever after purchase?

I haven't heard of any form of expiry of Wii Points.

Check here for more information on the Wii Points system.

Why would a prepaid card expire? There's no expiration date on the card anyway so that means there's no way it can.

Nintendo Star Points (the things you get for registering products at the European site) do expire after a while, but I'm not sure when. But I've heard nothing about Wii Points expiring.

Been registered on the NoE site since the GameCube was out and have been registering stuff on a steady pace. Never lost any stars.

Really? That's good news. It looks like Nintendo are working on some sort of Stars/Wii Points exchange, so I'd hate for my Stars to expire just as that comes into effect!

They changed the "Algemene Voorwaarden" just this january. Our hard earned stars will expire 31 dec. 2007. Anything you registered after january 1st will expire after one year. I've been saving my stars in an envelope 'till they let us exchange them for wii points. I hope that it will happen soon because I already registered 14000+ stars. Would hate to lose them or waste them on the crap in the catalogue.

Never received a communication like this from Nintendo.
Could you be more detailed?
And what does "Algemene Voorwaarden" mean?

True, they never send out any e-mail or any other kind of notification specifically about this. I found out through a friend and then checked the NOE site myself. I'm sorry I don't know the english word for Algemene Voorwaarden but it's the article that explains all the rules and conditions of the NOE membership. I'd post a link, but I'm posting from my Wii. My laptop recently crashed.

manually copy pasted the link: http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/n...erms/index.jsp but this is in dutch.

Just read the terms again, it seems they changed it again just recently. New expiration date is May 1st 2008. Anything you register(ed) after May 1st 2007 will expire after 24 months.

I have no idea. I'd find it strange if they did have an expiration date since you pay for them. Then again most phone companies won't let you keep your phone credit either. If you want to be sure, you should call NOE.
