Default Rare-Square speculation

Why do Rare and square and all the other companies leave us guessing on if their games(chrono,PD, banjo) will come out? Although some may be pretty easy to figure out how hard could it be to confirm one way or another?

Wouldn't the Linux people be the "Commies" and Microsoft the Capitalists?
