Any speculation on what games will be out first though.

Blame Nintendo of Norway for leading us down the garden path! We aren't sure what's happening with the C64 anymore! Still Japan gets the MSX so I suspect the C64 is the best fit for the west, let's wait and see!

It would be great to see the C64 on VC because it had hundreds of brilliant games which never appeared on console platforms. Last Ninja, Paradroid, Creatures etc. A fantastic software library that doesn't deserve to be lost.

Yes, the company that became Rare released a number of classic games on the C64 (and Spectrum). They were called Ultimate Play the Game back then, and I think they took on the Rare name only after moving on to other projects.

to be honest, the main hurdle would not be bringing the games, but getting the rights to use the commodore and c64 name- not sure who owns those now.

the same with amiga

I believe Commodore still exists in some form. I read recently about a new range of "Amiga" gaming pcs being released under the company name. Now, the question is if that "Commodore" also owns the rights to the old C64 OS/ROM, or whether they just own the company name.

They're not Amigas, just normal PC's that are stupidly over-priced.
I'd love to see C64 games come to the VC, but the price would have to be right - and if they emulate the tape loading, I'll be banging my head against the wall.

Nothing.
The C=64 emulation news was an error by the Norwegian site of Nintendo.

If it will ever happen, it's unrelated to this spring news.

What happened this spring is that someone misinterpreted the release of a Wii version of Impossible Mission downloadable via Wii-Shop from the (future) WiiWare games section of the shop.
When they heard of a downloadable version of IM they thought it was the C=64 version and erroneously reported the wrong news of a new emulator.

Anyone know anything about a release date for Impossible Mission? It's supposed to be soon.
