Default Puzzled by the lack of Puzzle games.

There's not a single decent puzzle game out.

WHY?!

I want a good adictive game with brill music and cool art styles.

Like Meteos or Tetris.

I know there were some great puzzle games back then, so where are they?

BTW, the "Puzzle" genre reckons Sonic 1 and 2 plus many more platformers are indeed Puzzlers

There's also 2 "CAPCOM's"

There ARE good puzzle games on VC.

Columns (classic)
Solomon's Key (classic)
Lode Runner (classic)
Battle Lode Runner (classic)
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Puyo Puyo clone)
Kirby's Ghost Trap (Puyo Puyo clone)

Pretty overlooked:

Adventures of Lolo
Mario & Yoshi
Wario's Woods
Chew Man Fu

There may be no Tetris, no Dr. Mario, no Yoshi's Cookie
but they're on the way.

Yes, there's no Tetrisphere, Lemmings and Wetrix..
so for the best ones we're still waiting for.

If anything the VC has a disproportionate amount of puzzlers. Most of them are of quite a high standard esp stuff like Solomon's Key and Adventure of Lolo.

If they get the license from The Tetris Company, there will be quite a lot of games to release in the VC.

I'm really looking forward to Tetris & Dr. Mario and the original Tetris Attack (which they could release already if they just changed the title, but I doubt they'd do that)

Nintendo can and might release a Tetris Attack game for VC.

You know Pokémon Puzzle League for N64?
Apart from the Pokémon theme it was the best Tetris Attack game I've ever played.

Nintendo has changed the name of the Tetris Attack / Panel De Pon series to Puzzle League.

You know there's a new DS game called Puzzle League DS?
This is just Tetris Attack.

My fav is Lolo(havent dl'ed yet tho) but its more of a thinking than an action/arcade puzzle.
For action i want Puzzle Bobble(Bust-a-Move) i know its on Wii but 800 pts for SNES version(if ever released) is less than 62Euro's(im waiting for the price to fall/nice price or whatever). Else i can just bootup my PS2 and play Super Bust-A-Move, take that Nintendo
Tetris is fun too but i have played it to death and not like its xyz clones on the net. Those Puyo Puyo can be fun too i think but never played it/any.

I have seen Worms Blast (Gamecube) yesterday for 10 €. This is a Puzzle Bobble clone.

I didn't buy it because I have Bust-A-Move 3DX Arcade Edition for N64.

I mean generic puzzle games. So I don't class Sol, Lode, Chew or Lolo.

And they stink. Good back then, awful today. I don't like Cookie either. I'm going mad for a Puzzle fix.

The Pokemon done my head in. For every minor accomplishment "PIKA PIKA" "PIKA PI" etc...

Looks like a great game, but it's deffinitely an iPod job

Gameplay doesn't appeal to me.

Running around lifting things while they're falling. Looks shoddy and clumsy.

Think Ninty were smokin the ganja in the early 90's.

If Solomon's Key stinks you might smell your own nose, buddy

And better keep your mouth shut about Wario's Woods or I really come after you. ^^

Anyway there might be truth in your words...
I also smoke ganja, so that's why it appeals to me so much.

Going by block puzzle games, there are better than Puyo Puyo/Mean Bean Machine/Kirby's Ghost Trap and Columns out there, but they still offer some decent gameplay. I would LOVE to see Columns III though, since that has a great multiplayer mode than what the original had.

Tetris Attack was great, but with the release of Puzzle League DS, I seriously doubt Nintendo will bring that to the VC anytime soon.

Still, that said, Solomon's Key offers everything that the best puzzle games have; addictiveness, depth of play, challenge and simplicity. A fine playable game now that hasn't aged in the slightest. This, along with Lolo, is probably all the puzzle games I need from the VC.

I'd like to see Nebulous, which I suppose counts as a puzzler of sorts. Magic Drop would be nice, and it's a possibility with the Neo Geo VC. I'd also like to see Pang!, and of course Sega's mighty Pengo.

Pang (also known as Buster Bros) is bleeding awesome! Sadly, the Pang/Buster Bros selection in the PSP collection 'Capcom Puzzle World' is hindered by the fact (and fatal bug) that the bloody game randomly switches off the PSP!

Yikes, that's a bit of a nasty flaw. The Amiga had a Pang clone which was quite fun too, but I forget the name. Instead of balloons, you had asteroids, which acted in the same ways as the ones from, um, Asteroids, and the main sprite was borrowed from Turrican.

I like it, but it's to hard to quick. And personally, after 30 mins, I don't find it all that fun. It's possibly the least addictive game that I have and enjoy (Because obviously games I hate aren't addictive at all).

Again, the "They stink" was to the list with Columns, Yoshi etc...

I'm on a Wii 49 times out of 50. Quoting specific sections is quite hard, so I have to quote the lot and hope it's understandable. But sometimes things like this happen.

They won't release a "Tetris Attack" without a Tetris license, and the SNES version isn't called Puzzle League, hence what I posted.

Erm... If you mean Nebulus/Castelian, that's a platformer. I guess you mean the god-sim Populous, from EA.

About the good puzzle games, there will be a bunch to add to the VC once it supports Neo-Geo games: Puzzle Bobble (1 & 2), Magical Drop (1, 2 & 3), Panic Bomber, Puzzle de Pon... and also perhaps, Ghostlop.

No, I was thinking of Nebulous. Technically a platformer, I know, but I recall it had a very strong puzzle element to it. And if Bubble Bobble counts...

If Bubble Bobble is a puzzle game, Sonic is a war sim.

That'd be great on the Virtual Console actually, brilliantly addictive little game. There was a SNES version, right?

I don't understand one thing.
In Japan it's called Panel de Pon (without a Tetris license).
In US/EU it's called Tetris Attack (with a Tetris license?)
Why did Nintendo buy a Tetris-license for a game that has basically nothing to do with Tetris?

Anyway, by stating they could release a Tetris Attack game I meant Pokémon Puzzle League for N64. There are no licensing issues.

And yes, Puzzle Bobble was released for SNES and N64.
