Default Virtual Console prediction for 2010.

2009 for the Virtual Console in North America and Europe has come to an close. Some weeks were great, like in December 21th, 2009, but others were terrible like during the two weeks without a VC game. Now that 2009 has unfolded, let's start predicting what games will be made available in 2010. I'll start (Please note this is an prediction for the North American Virtual Console):

Nintendo Entertainment System:
1. Pro Wrestling
2. Mega Man IV
3. Mega Man V
4. Mega Man VI
5. Devil World
6. Nintendo World Cup
7. Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
8. Skate Or Die!
9. Smash Table Tennis
10. Super Pitfall

Sega Master System:
1. Alex Kidd In Shinobi World
2. Shinobi

TurboGrafx-16:
1. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
2. Keith Courage In Alpha Zone

Sega Genesis:
1. Sonic & Knuckles
2. Crackdown
3. ESWAT: City Under Seige
4. Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker
5. Shadow Dancer
6. Strider
7. Super Street Fighter II: The New Challenger
8. Pengo
9. Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye (Now available on the Virtual Console)

Super Nintendo Entertainment System:
1. Earthbound
2. Final Fantasy IV
3. Kirby Super Star
4. Mario's Super Picross
5. Final Fight III (Now available on the Virtual Console)
6. Tetris Attack (Depending if they change the title or use the Japanese import version)
7. Ghoul Patrol
8. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
9. Star Fox

Commodore 64:
1. Last Ninja 3
2. Impossible Mission
3. International Karate+
4. Jumpman
5. World Games
6. Winter Games
7. Paradroid
8. Mayhem In Monsterland

Neo Geo:
1. The King Of Fighter '95
2. World Heroes 2
3. Fatal Fury Special
4. Ironclad

Nintendo 64:
1. Ogre Battle 64
2. Mario Party
3. Mario Tennis

Virtual Console Arcade:
1. Space Invader
2. Bomb Jack
3. Donkey Kong
4. Bloody Wolf
5. Pac Man

I believe that's fifty-two games. Yeah, I'm basing this off if every week is an one-game week. You can make your own predictions and rate other predictions. On top of that, you can predict the region where you live and the region where you don't live in.

What are your predictions for the Virtual Console in 2010?

Onto 2010, mine will be for any region:

NES

1. Pro Wrestling Sounds good, it has to come out eventually
2. The NES Star Wars Games Considering that the Super Star Wars games were originally published by JVC, but the VC version was published by Lucasarts, it could happen.
3. Translated Final Fantasy II (Hopefually, Nintendo will allow them) About as likely as Goldeneye 007 appearing on the Virtual Console.
4. Duck Hunt I would prefer an WiiWare version, but this game was originally ESRB rated, so it might happen later down it's lifespan.
5. Megaman 4/5/6 I see them being released around Mega Man 10 WiiWare release.

SNES

1. Yoshi's Island Despite emulation difficulty, I can see this game made available sometime in late 2010-late 2011.
2. Final Fantasy IV I'm expecting this between January-early February.
3. Tetris Attack This game is going to be relatively difficult to release, due to licensing issues, but it has many advantages going for it's release. so I wouldn't rule it out for 2010 quite yet.
4. Starwing/fox I'm predicting that this is our first Super FX game.
5. Magic Knight Rayearth (Only because I want it :P) What's this?

N64

1. Mario Party Probably appearing late 2010.
2. Orge Battle 64 First N64 title of 2010.
3. Bomberman 64 2011/2012 is more likely, that is, if we ever get third-party support.
4. Translated Custom Robo 1/2 This game will more likely be made available in 2011.
5. Donkey Kong 64 Due to licensing issues, we'll get this game in 2011 if at all.

TG16

1. Castlevania Rondo of Blood This game has an OFLC rating. This game is more then likely coming this year.
2. Bomberman Despite superior sequels, prehaps Hudson Soft wants to put up one more Bomberman game.
3. Fire Pro Wrestling I doubt it.
4. Sega games Hell no, Sega would sue Nintendo and Hudson for that.
5. Cotton No idea.

Master System

1. Sonic Spinball We already have the superior sequel
2. Psycho Fox This will take awhile.
3. Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine Yawn.
4. Moonwalker (lol. XD) Licensing oppertunity will go to waste if this happens.
5. Streets of Rage See Sonic Spinball.

Mega Drive

1. Moonwalker Considering it had an PEGI rating before it was removed, it looks likely.
2. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Its coming back in January don'tcha know?) Just because we might get Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker doesn't mean we'll get this as well. This game actually has licensing issues.
3. Sonic and Knuckles Q1 2010, you are dead on.
4. Decap Attack ????
5. Megaman Wily Wars We can start predicting it when we get all seven Mega Man games.

Neo Geo

1. Ironclad Reasonable prediction, it has an OFLC rating.
2. More King of Fighters Yeah.
3. More sequels Such as World Heroes 2 and Fatal Fury Special.
4. Stuff I ve never heard of lol. Not many people know of the Neo Geo, so yeah.

C64

Nothing Your kidding me? I can predict at least eight games. And Europe still has three coming.

Arcade

1. The Nintendo Stuff Would greatly be apperaticed.
2. Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder We're more likely to see the Sega Master System version.
3. Star Wars Arcade/Trilogy Arcade Lucasarts wouldn't go that far. If we ever see them, they will be the last of there games on the Virtual Console.
4. The big Namco Catch up lol. That would be great, but I think it'll take forever for a game to be released.
5. Paperboy Minescape is not supporting the Virtual Console, so don't hold your breath for it.
I give your list a 20/45.

I actually have hopes for Final Fantasy II, I mean Super Mario Bros. 2 (not Doki Doki Panic) got transition... Plus Final Fantasy 2 got alot of fans waiting for it's dump on them! Earthbound is very likely to release, it will be HUGE boost for VC and Wii in general... Shadow Dancer is my most anticipated right now! Star Fox and Yoshi's Island will definitly get released soon cause Star Fox Wii is coming and NSMB Wii had Yoshi so will Galaxy 2 so Yoshi got some boost so it will be stupid of Nintendo not to release it since Yoshi Island DS sold well! And boy do I hope Mortal Kombat finds it's way to VC! Theres more load of Sonic ******ry coming out ._. And I was waiting forever for DUCK HUNT! But I don't know how it will be played since you need NES Zapper, I guese Wii Zapper is compatble... I also like the Frisbee shooting game for NES... Boy do I miss the laughing dog LOL!Pilotwings 64 will definitly come! Also maybe some GOOD aracde games... Paperboy is not gonna get releas2ed, it's on Live you know... I also hope SONIC CD gets F*CKING RELEASED! Theres damn Sonic Golden Collection coming out for DS, but gues what? NO SONIC CD! SEGA is really getting me hips lost! Ok I'm done lol

A Japan Only Japanese anime game. I want it, because I'm a big MKR nut. ;P

Quote:

Wave Race 64 had logos removed for its VC release, so Jetman and DK Arcade can be easily removed if that's what you're on about. Nintendo own DK, so they can do whatever they like with the Rareware games.

Quote:
4. Sega games Hell no, Sega would sue Nintendo and Hudson for that.
Not if Hudson asked Sega nicely. Besides, with multible versions of Space Harrior and others, I'm sure Sega would like the extra cash. ;P

Quote:

Same with a lot of games, but that hasnt stopped Sega release the multible versions. Besides, they're running out of Sonic...

I know, but if Disney think bringing back the old Power Rangers is better then making a new one, then bring on the old games! XD

4. Decap Attack ????
Look it up, its on the Playstation and 360 MD compilations. ;P

Face it, its been rejected. The US will get catch up games Europe has for sure, but I'm not expecting brand new ones...

Who's to say they won't start next year? ;P

Here is my review of your review:

While the reasons you gave were pretty decent, it was kind of mean how you picked on some of his predictions. The truth is, all of them have a chance of happening.

Also, 20/45? Why such a weird denominator? There is an example of a regular denominator below.

I give your review a 3/10. It wasn't mind-blowingly bad, but it totally wasn't worth the amount of your time you put into commenting next to every single prediction.

For SNES, I'm definitely hoping for Super Mario World 2 and Star Fox.

For the Arcade, Pac Man, Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. Although not necessarily in that order.

Mega Man 4-6

Maybe Mega Man X to X3 (probably just one of them this year if any)

Dragon Warrior (after Square Enix runs out of Final Fantasy to release, which will be soon since FFVI isn't on the VC horizon yet)

Final Fantasy IV
Kirby Super Star

Alex Kidd In Shinobi World

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Maybe the SNES Dracula X game is Konami wants to keep the pressure on the series. Maybe even the arcade game.

Super Mario World 2 or Star Fox, I don't know about both in the same year.

Ogre Battle 64

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

Hopefully Warsong, but I have my doubts about us ever getting that one, sadly.

Donkey Kong arcade.

Maybe a few C64 catch-up games.

And a whole lot of stuff out of left field that we don't see coming yet.

I definitely think EarthBound is coming, I'm just not convinced it'll be in 2010.

I'm not sure if we'll see it at all, but if we do, I'm predicting 2010. But the only way to make it likely is if we have an OFLC rating, PEGI rating, or heck, even an USK rating, but considering that only Japan and North America received the game, it doesn't look too good for Europe.

Or Nintendo could hold on to releasing the game as one of there last games on the Virtual Console this generation (First-party wise), which would push it back to 2011 or even 2012 (Doomday game anyone?). But then again, we have that Earthbound VC thread over there, so no need to continue discussing it.

Gribbly would be nice to complete a Matthew Braybrook trilogy on VC

Wizball seemed a cert when it was rated over 6 months ago but a glance at Commodore gamings website reveals a startling lack of updates (they seemingly arn't even aware of some of their own NA releases) and one wonders if they've gone into stasis while they wait for sales to pick up on the games they've already released.

Jumpman Junior I know nothing about but it isn't something i care about.

Hopefully the VCF gaming club will help boost C64 sales this month

Andrew. Not Matthew And yes, Gribbly is one of the best Braybrook games. It was back in '85 but still looks great (smooth scrolling, great use of color, outstanding animations) and that wasn't the only threat. Perfect controls/physics, unique sound effects, RAM storage tricks to make a stage living and the enemies evolve. It was way ahead of its time.
I wonder why it wasn't as popular as Paradroid and Uridium? Maybe because it looked so cutey girly casual and the C64 userbase was hardcore.

I still hope for Wizball. I'd love to try it again. After all it's a popular all-time-classic in the C64 scene. There's just that rating, but I hope it comes true.

Jumpman Junior is a 16-stages Jumpan sequel, it's easier and shorter than the original that had 30 stages. It's called the "beatable" kids version. I thought this could be easily released because of the strong Epyx support.

I just want to point out to SSBF that Mindscape (not Minescape) only published the NES Paperboy, they had nothing to do with developing any version of the game. That would be Midway. The arcade version is on the first Midway Arcade Treasures.

If The Lost Vikings comes to the VC, that would be great. It's a good action-platforming/puzzler. I really like your interest in Virtual Console predictions Super Smash Bros. Fan1999! I am pretty satisfied with the games we got now since Super Smash Bros. 64 was released. I predict the Virtual Console will be abandoned by the end of the year unless they make some drastic changes, such as allowing translations or opening the doors to more N64 games from third parties.

I really can't see that happening. What makes you say that? You make it sound like they're running out of games, which clearly isn't the case. I certainly don't think more 3rd party N64 games is the answer, since there are so few of them to begin with.

Translations would be sweet on import titles, but again, imports alone aren't going to be the VC's bread and butter. There are a lot of great ones out there to be sure, but we'll always get fewer games from other regions than we do from our own region.

Samurai Shodown III is already out on the Japanese VC. It will take a while for it to come out over here though.

As for Samurai Shodown IV, there is a good chance of it being released, but maybe not this year.

KOF 97 and KOF 98? Those will take AGES to come out and KOF 96 hasen't even been released on the VC as of yet.
