So, what Japan-only VC games do you recommend me getting next month? Obviously no text -heavy games but fighters, shooters, puzzles and the like

Welcome back, only 2 new games in Japan @ 08.01.08

One of them isn't really new, we got it already: Samurai-Ghost for PC Engine.

The other one is an old beat'em up classic by Konami: Yie-Ar Kung Fu for the Famicom.

Three new games in Japan this week. ( 15.01.08 )

1080° Snowboarding (N64) - This is one for the cold days. It's not only the first snowboard game on the VC, it's also the best: controls, graphics, course design and challenge, stunt mode and 2-player splitscreen. If you wait for a better snowboard game, you will wait many winters.

Adventure Island (NES) - The US already has this classic platformer.

Monster World IV (MD) - Just want to inform you, this good-looking platformer-RPG is out as well.
But let the Wonder Boy maniacs on this forum clear up which part of the series it really is...

Only 1 new game in Japan this week. ( 22.01.08 )

I hope I'm not missing something....

It is Devil World for the NES. Originally only released in Japan and Europe.
An overlooked arcade game in the vein of Pac-Man.
Pick up the cross, so you can collect the dots.
The screen moves in all directions, so be careful not to be crushed by the walls.
So, if you want a Pac-Man game, that's not too repetitive and has more to offer than just the same level over and over again, get Devil World.

22.01.08 Devil World 1984-2008 (Nintendo)

DEVIL WORLD video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5zpk0FVXVI

On a side note: Your main character, the little dinosaur TAMAGON is a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
The main enemy, the DEMON, makes an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve4WMGzHeeU

Thanks Jazzem, good to know. I still regularly update it.

And now we have another VC Tuesday in Japan ( 29.01.08 )

3 new games and 1 old game.

Beginning with the one we already have: Super Air Zonk for Turbografx-CD.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1Obb0CowLg0

Now on to another super one: SUPER R-TYPE for the Super NES! Yeah, super shooter! Is announced for release in the west. Super!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zxD_zeqEp30

Sega brings the goods for RPG Freaks: Phantasy Star II for the Mega Drive! Since there is an official translated version, it's likely to come to the west. http://youtube.com/watch?v=HDMihHbGkuk

And last but not least, Namco is releasing it's retro-platformer Mappy on the NES.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=g2184MLAuXM

You can find links to the game sites on the first page.

And I hope I can manage the pile of problems I crushd in at the moment, you know?

My father died after 4 months of coma, after that my girlfriend left me with my baby and then I was drunk like ****, tried to kill myself, but got back to life 3 days later in the hospital... I spent 2 weeks there... and now I have to move home. No time for Wii-VC... much crap goin on, tryin to cope with that,
looking for a new job and a new life.

See ya'll when everything's sorted out for good.
Awww... Poor SKTTR, But why the heck did you try to kill yourself?

Default Speaking of Japanese VC

I've got 5,000 Japanese wii points i want to get rid of. These are points to buy games on the Jap VC.

I'm interested in trading them for US points or selling them... maybe with some discount involved...

PM me, or reply on my thread:

http://www.vc-forums.com/japanese-wi...abs-t5458.html

thanks!

2 Japanese VC games this week. ( 04.03.08 )

NES Metroid (Sci-Fi-Classic by Nintendo - already out in EU and US)

NES Star Luster (1985-Retro-Space-Shooter by Namco)

Note: Last week ( 26.02.08 ) a surprising fifth game showed up on the JP VC.
It's the 1996 SNES-import-platformer (and Milon's Secret Castle-sequel) Do Re Mi Fantasy by Hudson which is announced to come to the western VC.

Classic. 4 Stars

NES Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun (1987) Technos, Million Co.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_nk/index.html

From Wikipedia:
Renegade is a video game released in American and European arcades in 1986 by Taito. It is a westernized conversion (including changes to all of the sprites and backgrounds) of the Japanese arcade game Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun (熱血硬派くにおくん? which roughly translates to "Hot Blood Tough Guy Kunio-kun"), released earlier the same year by Technos. It is an immediate technological predecessor to Double Dragon, and Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun is the inaugural game in the Kunio-kun series (which includes Super Dodge Ball and River City Ransom).

Fun little brawler. 3 Stars

TG Panic Bomber (1994) Hudson
http://vc-pce.com/jpn/j/title/panibom.html

Another unique Tetris-style puzzle game for crazy combo-fanatics.

SNES Super Gussun Oyoyo (1993) Irem ( 1995-2008 ) Banpresto
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_sgo/index.html

A mix between and Tetris and Lemmings. Addictive puzzle fun!

The Japanese seem to be getting all the good games at the Moment.

They have Metal Slug, Rondo AND Kirby this Month, if I'm not mistaken!

This thread needs to be updated, I still see Gradius II in the list of unreleased Famicom games, but that is currently available in EU.

Should I un-sticky this to make room for another thread now that SKTTR's never around anymore to update it and there's minimal discussion here?

It looks like that's going to happen sooner or later so you may as well do it now, huh?
So, are you going to be making the new thread?
