I'm confused. This thread started as a means to update people on actual releases but it seems to have mutated into a predictions thread.

Meh, guess it works either way then having a new topic made every week.

I could change the title and think about making it sticky at the top of the forum and keep it as a weekly EU predictions thread.

Announcements are usually made in the chat and in the predictions thread anyway, and then there are bajillions of news feeds that promote them as well, so I don't think we need an announcements-only thread. I'll get these bad boys up and running though.

Epic update, I say.
The appearance of a new Hanabi festival alone is great enough to warrant excitement, but the release of Tactics Ogre and Gradius Rebirth nearly make me drool, especially with the latter one being way less expensive over here.
Pulseman could also be rather nice. Too bad I've lost all interest in Bit Boy after having seen Deivion212's vid on it.
Oh and DSiWare SUCKS.

Our Virtual Console Hanabi Festival is back – with a new line-up of classic games available for the first time in Europe!
Hanabi Festival is named after the Japanese holiday season famous for its firework displays, which typically takes place during the summer. And we've got an explosive collection of games to light up your Wii console in July!
There's something for everyone in this Hanabi Festival. We start on 3 July with the cult Japanese platformer Pulseman (SEGA MEGA DRIVE) and strategy classic Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (Super Nintendo).
And we continue in the following weeks with these retro gaming favourites, appearing outside Japan or North America for the first time:
Bomberman '94 (Turbografx)
Kirby's Dream Land 3 (Super Nintendo)
Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II (NES)
MUSHA (SEGA MEGA DRIVE)
DETANA TWIN BEE (Turbografx)
Smash Table Tennis (NES)

If you missed the previous Hanabi Festivals, all of those games are still available, such as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Sin And Punishment, Super Mario RPG and many more!
Please note that some Hanabi Festival games include a small amount of Japanese text but can be enjoyed without knowledge of the language.
So no sign of Final Fantasy, the other Koei Stratagy games or any unannounced surprises. Still, quite a few I'd like.

Looks like we're pulling names out of a hat for the next few weeks VC prediction-wise...
The lack of Final Fantasy is a pain, but I think Zoda's Revenge and Kirby should tide me over until the next Hanabi... The two released today also look interesting, so I might give those a shot in the future.

Today's DSiWare releases aren't games.

And WiiWare... Bit Boy looked okay for a while, but I went off the idea when I saw some gameplay. And I don't like shmups much, so Gradius is a no-no for me.

Anyhows, for next week:

VC
Kirby's Dreamland 3
MUSHA

WW
Bit.Trip Core
LIT

DSiW
Art Style: BOXLIFE
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again

WiiWare:
butterfly garden (kinda late)
Harvest moon: my little shop (havent heard anything about it yet)
and i guess a next part of FFIV: the after years

this is all i can think about, dont care about DSiWare

too bad no FF/FFIV will come this month, cuz i like to play FFIV now

As Hanabi made its return last week, we now know what we're getting VC wise for the rest of the month. However, it should be noted we're currently on 297 VC games in Europe (277 down under due to the lack of the C64) which means one of the imports will be our 300th game! Then again, Metal Slug did arrive during a Hanabi Festival, so maybe the 300th would be a not import?

Wiiware, take your pick. Could be anything from LIT and Bit Trip Core, to erm, Sexy Poker. :/

DSiware next, and we're nearly up to date with NA on Clock Apps. Will the Photo Clock App reach us, an all new useless App, or even something that will actually appeal to gamers?

My Predictions

VC

Bomberman 94
Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II
Super Mario Kart (VC Game Number 300)

Wiiware

Sexy Poker
Bit Trip Core

DSiWare

Art Style BOXLIFE
Pop Plus Solo
"Genesis Does What Nintendon't" Clock App

So, it's Europe's 300th Game Prediction time! Will it be one of the imports, or will Nintendo do another Metal Slug and release something else during the current Hanabi Festival? A chance for Super Mario Kart?

Wiiware, and My Life As a Darklord has been confirmed this week. Anything else perhaps?

DSiWare, still waiting on that Photo Clock we are. Maybe that, or an actual game or 2?

My Predictions

VC

Super Mario Kart
Kirby's Dreamland 3
Smash Tennis

Wiiware

FF My Life As A Darklord

DSiWare
Planet Puzzle League
Mario's Time Machine Clock App

As much as I want them to surprise us with Mario Kart as #300 in the middle of Hanabi, I'm sure they think Kirby 3 is a big enough title for the milestone.

Dear Nintendo: Please don't make us wait for #350 to get our Kart on!

It was originally released by Konami as Smash Ping Pong in the arcades in 1985 but when Nintendo published the NES version they gave it a different name and put Donkey Kong Jr in the crowd. The press release says that you can play the full range of shots including a smash, forehand, backhand and lob as you attempt to beat your opponent in a best of three match. We'd like to know how you lob someone in table tennis.

Musha (900 Points), a Sega Mega Drive vertical shoot 'em up that was released in the US and Japan in 1990. Playing as Terri, a girl who pilots a M.U.S.H.A. (Metallic Uniframe Super Hybrid Armour), your goal is to eliminate Dire 51, an Intellicomputer that has gone out of control and is planning an attack upon humanity. You'll have special weapons like the Vanishing Buster, Blazing Beam and Defensive Detonator at your disposal as you fly through seven levels.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Dark Lord (1,000 points) is this week's sole WiiWare release. The sequel to My Life As A King is another strategy game but this time you'll be playing as an evil daughter of a Dark Lord who installs traps and uses monsters to defend her tower against waves of invading adventurers.

Finally there's A Little Bit Of Puzzle League (500 Points) for DSi. It's a block puzzler which has you connecting blocks of the same colour to clear them from the screen in order to prevent your stack from becoming too high. There are four single player modes to choose from: Endless (survive to earn a top score), Clear (eliminate all blocks above the line), Score Attack (score as high as possible in two minutes), and Vs. COM (use items and combos to attack a computer opponent).
FFCC: MLAADL looks good, the rest not so much.

No offence intended! I just don't like shoot 'em ups that much is all. As a rule I'm more interested in WiiWare than VC. Still waiting for LIT, Bonsai Barber and the new Monkey Island episode.

Last week? Yeah. This month has three more Fridays... so....

If we get M.U.S.H.A. and Smash Table Tennis tonight we still have two Fridays left:
The 24th Friday and 31st Friday, so it looks like in the next two weeks we only get 1 Hanabi title?
Detana TwinBee on one and Kirby 3 on the other?!

That's bad... Give us at least Ninja Gaiden II and Final Fantasy 1!

lets hope i'm not right, i wanna get kirby 3 sooner
and yea, why no FF1 with it, nice to start with FF's for em
even though i just want FFIV rather than FF1
i dont like waiting, but waiting for 3 more fridays sux more imo

and as for the fridays with 1 hanabi, 1 of those days can get SMK released would be fun

Life as a Darklord... Sometime, eventually, perhaps, but not an immediate purchase for me. I'd rather get a full version of a game than "A Little Bit Of..." it, thanks, so I wouldn't get Puzzle League even if I had a DSi. Table Tennis is not my cup of tea either, and MUSHA is a shmup, and therefore not really for me.

So... next week:

VC
Kirby's Dreamland 3 (SNES)
DETANA TWIN BEE (TG16)

WW
Bit.Trip Core
LIT

DSiW
Art Style: BOXLIFE
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again

Though I wouldn't mind seeing a sneaked in Final Fantasy, or Ninja Gaiden game.

The previous Hanabi festivals were all 3-week affairs (the 3rd one was even spread over August/September last year), so they're more likely to give us both TwinBee and Kirby next week and resume normal service for the 31st.

So Smash Table Tennis is #300 then. Not an obvious choice, but it does have DK Jr in it...

MUSHA is the 300th one, i'm afraid
some stupid shooting game being 300th, and twinbee is better imo
well, i think kirby 3 deserved being 300th, or SMK
lets hope next week is a good week (with kirby, lol)
dont feel offended, since i just say i think MUSHA sux, not the ones liking that game

No real point predicting VC and WW since they've confirmed what we're getting, unless you want to predict a bonus game (Like Metal Slug which showed up during an Hanabi).

So really that leaves DSi, which I will predict.

DSiWare

i think i go with SKTTR as for VC
and if there will be a bonus game, maybe super mario kart
maybe some unannounced game will get to VC without warning
would be nice if they have a surprise game, like FF/FFIV perhaps (have those been announced?)
if those games wont show up, then i dont know...

Kirby's Dream Land 3 is just one of five new Nintendo downloads this week as Detana Twin Bee hits Virtual Console, Colorz and Heracles Chariot Racing are released through the WiiWare service and A Little Bit Of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: Sudoko launches for DSiWare.

However, the one that most Nintendo fans will be looking forward to is Kirby's Dream Land 3 (900 Points). It was released in Japan and the US in the late 90s but never came out in the UK. Now many gamers can enjoy this platformer for the first time. King DeDeDe is causing trouble in Dream Land and only Kirby can stop him. As ever, Kirby can swallow his enemies and absorb their abilities - fire, ice, stone, spark etc - and he can also request help from his animal friends like Rick the Hamster, Coo the Owl and Nago the Cat. He can even summon his stretchy-tongued pal Gooey, controlled either by the computer or a friend.

This week's other Hanabi Festival download is Detana Twin Bee (700 Points). Originally released in Japan in 1992, it is a cute vertical scrolling shooter which has you blasting goofy aliens. You take on the roles of TwinBee and WinBee, flying through the sky in six missions which have you trying to save the planet from evil alien invaders. You can play as TwinBee in one player mode, or team up with WinBee in two player co-operative mode.

Colorz (700 Points) from Exkee is a WiiWare action/puzzler which sees you flying around in a spaceship in an attempt to clear planets of viruses. You control red, green and blue UFOs but they can only absorb viruses of their own colour so you'll have to avoid some viruses. However, you can fuse your ships to create new colours. Apparently the developers were influenced by the rock hard GameCube blaster Ikaruga, so it could be worth a look.

Then there's Heracles Chariot Racing (800 Points) from Neko Entertainment. In a race through kingdoms to become the first to reach Mount Olympus, you can either play as the Greek divine hero himself or other characters from Greek legend including Poseidon. The press release mentions playing as Satyr but these are troop of male companions of Pan and Dionysus so we're not sure how that will work! Anyway, you'll race through three racing cups across ten courses set in five mythic landscapes and use Zeus' lightning rods, tridents, fireballs and more to defeat your enemies. You can play with two to four players in split-screen multiplayer mode or compete in Championship, Single Race or Battle Mode.

Finally Nintendo's most famous brain box Dr Kawashima will return to DSi tomorrow in A Little Bit Of Brain Training: Sudoku (500 Points). It features more than 100 sudoku puzzles for beginners and experts and there's a Brain Age check featuring various exercises to determine your Brain Age score.
Finally! More Hanabi and some WiiWare to boot.

Even more Sudoku on DSiWare?!?! Seriously, Sudoku is a great game, but there are already too many considering the relatively low amount of games on DSiWare so far.

Well, with NA not getting any VC for 2 weeks in a row and the Hanabi Festival ending last week, our chances for a VC game do not look too good. Will we return to 1 game a week, or every fortnight? Reguardless, we see, I dunno, Super Mario Kart, Earthworm Jim 2, Golden Axe Arcade, Phantasy Star, something else, or nothing?

Wiiware, and you can almost bet on a Wiiware game coming sadly. Still, will Ant Nation march its way over here, or Tales of Monkey Island sail over here, or LIT light up here, or......something.

DSiWare, still no impending Photo Clock App of Doom. By hey, might get a game instead!

My Predictions

VC

Phantasy Star
R Type SMS

Wiiware

LIT
Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1

DSiWare

Yoshi's Univeral Gravitation Clock App
Pop Plus Solo/Mr Driller

No VC in NA, so I'm guessing no VC over here either.

Seems like we have...

WiiWare:

The Three Musketeers: One for all! - 900 Points.
Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 - 1000 Points.
Driift Mania - 800 Points.

No VC, and no clue over DSiWare.

Right now, none of this seems of interest, but I may consider Monkey Island once all the chapters are out.

I just found out that turtles in time is coming to xbox live arcade. How come xbox gets all the cool turtle games and nintendo can't even bother releasing turtles 2 to VC in north america. It's been in other regions for over a year. I think the big N is missing the boat, the VC is a big reason I got my wii. I'm disapointed to say the least.

I'm hoping they're going to release one of these games to tie into the release of TMNT Smash Up. Given we have the VC Arcade now, I think I'd rather have the arcade version of the Arcade Game, rather than NES Turtles 2.

Or, alternatively, buy the GameCube Turtles games, which have Turtles In Time, and The Arcade Game as unlockables.
