U.S. Pokemon Event: Darkrai at Toys R Us, 5/31 & 6/1, noon-4pm

So if you

[1] live in the U.S.,
[2] own a DS & Pokemon Pearl or Diamond,
[3] can get to a Toys R Us between noon and 4pm on May 31st or June 1st,

you can get the legendary Darkrai. Or, more specifically, you can use the "Mystery Gift" feature (e.g. download at an event location) to obtain [link contains SPOILERS] an event item [/SPOILERS], which you can use in-game to get to the location wherein Darkrai resides.

In the last event I attended, you needed to have English-language pokemon carts and needed to have progressed far enough into the game to have gotten the pokedex. It would also be a good idea to have your DS fully charged. Contrary to popular confusion, you don't need to talk to anyone in the store! Just flip open your DS, turn it on, and download your "Mystery Gift."

Well, at least its good that you don't have to stand in a 5 hour line now. That kept me from getting the Mew I went to the event to get back in the Emerald days. Completely dumb.

Good question! I can't actually get into the pokemon.com site from this (my) computer, because it's a flash site (ick), but Bulbapedia states "The official Pokémon Web site has announced that Darkrai will be exclusively distributed for free at U.S. Toys 'R' Us stores noon to 4 p.m. May 31 and June 1. A U.S. version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl will be required." This may not be entirely accurate, however. If you have a nearby TRU, by all means, call them up and ask them if they're hosting the event! And do post to let others know.

The Bulbapedia forums may have more information about it, too, but calling up the nearby TRU is your best bet.

If you didn't get to a Toys 'R US yesterday, you still have a chance tomorrow!

We'll be heading out tomorrow. My husband wanted most of today's time so he could send his tiny plastic demons out to fight tiny plastic space soldiers today (a.k.a. "miniature gaming," though really, it's much bigger than handhelds and consoles! ;]). The TRU is slightly out of the way and would have eaten into that time.

It's also by a non-mainstream video game store, which I will be sure to drop into. If you live in the Baltimore area, you should find the Glen Burnie Power Gamer and shop there. They've retro games & systems, import games, and plush. I gots me an awesome stuffed Bowser. n_n
