Transformers (that movie thingy)

I was a bit surprised that no one even bothered with this before. Anyways, I'm looking forward to it. I really could care less how true it holds to the original animated series. After all, I barely even remember the show. Frankly, I get a good laugh out of those (sad) fanboys proclaiming "Micheal Bay is going to destroy our beloved franchise!" Please, it's just a movie. Nothing to get your panties in a twist about.

I'm just hoping for a good and somewhat mindless action movie.

Couldn't give a flying monkey's about the Transformers, I just have a problem with Michael Bay. The dude has, literally, never made a good movie. If you turned your brain off and just watched, Bad Boys was cool, I guess, but all of his tricks were already cliche by the time he made the Rock. I will not be watching the film.

Besides, it's all a big ad for GM cars anyways, and if Bay hadn't put me off enough, that does.

This is all said with the disclaimer that I'm both a movie buff and a total car fanatic, so if he can't convince me, he might have a bigger job on his hands than he expected.

The two tend to go irrevocably hand-in-hand, bud. If Bay had made a good film ever, and had then proceeded to hit a slump, I might be more lenient. As it stands, it'll be more overblown action direction and nauseating slo-mo pans across the faces of pretty but vacant "stars". Pass.

I thought The Island was rather decent. Nothing earth-shattering, but it was still very enjoyable.

I agree, though, that most of his films aren't really that note-worthy. Pearl Harbor for one. It didn't help either that Ben Affleck was one of the leads. Bleh.

Bay ****es me off mostly because his films are emotionally manipulative. I find it insults my intelligence.

*shrugs* Sure, I love good thought-provoking movies, but I also need the kind during which I can turn off my brain cells and simply enjoy the ride.
