It's an underrated game. It's just like any old platformer, and the Angry Nintendo/Video Game Nerd is an idiot beyond all comprehension.
Basically, the only thing people dislike about the game is, almost none of the enemies appear in the comics or cartoon, or even the movies. Yeah, so? Who says the game is supposed to follow anything that happened in the comics or cartoons? You know, besides Shredder and Krang, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fought generic thugs, psychos, and monsters not allied with Shredder and Krang. That's where the fire men and robots with flying heads and chainsaw-wielding maniacs come from. The Angry Video Game Nerd complains he couldn't cross a 1 block wide gap with no room to jump inside a building in map 3 and he eventually discovered after a few tries that he had to simply walk over it. First of all, what was over there, you could see before you even reach the gap, and the item was a pizza anyway. It's optional, and it's there for those who need it and know how to fight your way out safely after getting it. Lastly, he couldn't cross that gap despite the fact you could use an ability introduced first in Super Freaking Mario Bros. (hold the run button down and you can dash over 1 block wide holes). AVGN complains the turtles can't swim in the sewer water on Map 3 either, despite swimming in Map 3's dam and a turtle's natural ability to swim in real life. Well, Mario can swim in certain areas in Mario Bros. 1, but if he's above ground and falls in a pool of water he dies, so it's the same thing here. Where was your call when Super Mario Bros. came out? Oh no, what's this? There are two spiked rollers moving towards me and there's a pizza that spawns right next to it, but touching a roller is an instant death. Why put the pizza in an instant kill area? Simple, Angry Nintendo Idiot, IT'S A TRAP. It's there to trick you into trying to get it. You're not supposed to get it at all. Underrated game, by far. The only logical reason anyone should dislike it is due to it's difficulty in general.

If you'd read the AVGN's FAQ, you'd know that he's not serious at all. He actually likes some of the games he reviews, he's just pointing out the bad stuff in them.

Even if you don't like his reviews you can still see that his points are valid. It's a flawed game in many aspects. It's not a completely horrible game but it has enough problems that I have no urge to relive its terror again. Enemies move in ridiculous patterns, enemies can collect on one end of a screen and make it impossible to advance without taking serious damage, and they also reappear everytime you leave and reenter the screen. Now, I love hard games. I'm a gamer all about the challenge a video game can provide. But the water level where you have to disarm bombs is one of the hardest ****ing things I've ever experienced in a video game. Granted I was like 9 years old when I played it but if memory serves me correct it would sill be unnecessarily hard. There is a difference between a challenging game design and being challenged by flawed gameplay mechanics.

I bought this game about a month ago, and the price was allready hightend too 600 points at that time. I have no idea when the price got changed though.
And as said by Maxx the Slash, it is really an underated game Btw, isn't the higher price because it's a licensed game? |
