Lightbulb Thoughts on the possibility that Sega Saturn could hit VC?

As the Virtual Console has no problem emulating Turbo Grafix CD games, in theory couldn't Sega & Nintendo agree to allow the use the Saturn consoles libary in the future to help bulk the VC archives? I know the Wii isn't the powerhouse the PS3 is but surely it could emulate a 32bit Saturn game without fault... And do as Sony has done with the PSone games on their PS network store, surely that would be a money spinner for Nintendo & Sega (Particularly when the likes of the Nights sequel has hit the Wii, surely the Saturn original wouldnt go far wrong in terms of sales).

If releases of the games below could come out:
  • Radiant Silver Gun
  • Nights
  • Burning Rangers
  • Die Hard Arcade
  • House of the Dead
  • Saturn Bomberman
  • Daytona USA
  • Shining Force III
  • & Panzer Dragoon titles
Nintendo could knock them out at 1300-500 Wii Points each & make a heap of money.

I know for sure I would pay upto 1500 points to play any of those games on my Wii, partularly if there was a way the light gun games could be optimised to use the Wii's motion technology.

Any thoughts?

Peace,
Scribe

I don't know why they don't just release a Saturn/Dreamcast emulator for the Wii that allows you to play the games from their original CDs. Well actually I do know, too much effort and no money for it, but it'd be a nice way to do it.

I think the best thing we can hope for is for Sega to simply release a Saturn compilation disc with some of its best titles.

I think its bound to happen..... someday... about memory, 512 mb is more than enough to play saturn games Im sure of it since most computers have 512 minimum of RAM.. my laptop have 512 mb ram and I "tested out" a couple saturn games (I deleted them immediately!!) and it seemed to work well.I am not too tech savvy so correct me if Im wrong.. i wonder how much memory it'd take in terms of wii blocks? I have a 1 gb sd card and have 55 games on it and still have 4k+ blocks.. I doubt memory will be a problem..only will be able to have less games on the channels menu.

I believe that they will be forced to eventually. There is also "Wii-ware" coming down the pipes which will also fill the Wii's poor memory capacity with ease.

I said it from the beginning when I first read about the "Revolution's" specs. Nintendo's philosophy of keeping their console "light" was a HUGE mistake. Now, they are without a doubt between a rock and a hard place. Either they keep irritating everyone by not releasing expandable memory, or they do, which goes against their philosophy.

Imagine every Wii sitting there with an extra harddrive sitting on top of it...and this is two years in. Their goes that cost savings in comparison to the 360 and PS3. Poor long-term planning on the part of Nintendo. They are going to have egg on their face.

Which part of Shining Force III? Seeing as it was a trilogy and only part 1 was available outside of Japan and part 3 was only a beta to my knowledge.

As for games like House of the Dead and Die Hard, I doubt you'd see them on VC due to the HotD2+3 re-release and licensing issues for Die Hard. Nights was never a good game tbh either in original or remake form.

I agree that storage space issues would be a problem so if you really really want to play Actua Road-kill or whatever it was, I'd suggest just buying a Saturn (or a PLaystation which also hosted a large majority of the more popular games on Saturn)

On the offchance that we do get a Saturn VC - I hope we won't have to wait until 'Saturnday' for the games. Man that publicity stunt was bad - on so many levels.

No, they aren't, you people think they are, but they are not. They don't need to release a HDD; it can't be helped that people are just too lazy to swap out games like I do. I only keep around 12 VC/WiiWare (when the time comes) and the rest is used for Wii Channels and the huge SSBB game save (which I am getting a separate SD card just for that bloated game).

Anyway, I would REALLY welcome the Saturn for just one game: Vampire Lords: Darkstalkers 3.
