Well, as I've probably mentioned a million times, I'll be taking in money soon, and I'm comtemplating getting a PS2.
Please don't say "Get a PS3 or 360" because I don't want to spend that kind of money, I already have my Wii. I just feel there were a load of games I missed out on that didn't get released on the Gamecube, including Mortal Kombat games, Ecco, GTA, Baldur's Gate 2 (loved the original), Final Fantasy games, Kingdoms Hearts and a few more... I also have a PS1 with no proper access to it, so this would also let me play a load of my old PS1 games again. (It's backwards compatible, right?) How much would it cost, and will it really be worth buying in the long run? Oh, and can I used a PS1 memory card? Also, people who played it, is Ecco actually any good on PS2? It looks good judging by Youtube, and as many probably know I'm a fan of the Megadrive games.

The PS2 no matter what anybody says is best console ever made in terms of the amounts of games released and the sheer number of hits on the console, by buying it you can't go wrong... unless you totally ignore all the great games and go just for Spyro and Crash :P
Seeing as the machine is 7-8 years old now and its still pumping out games I will say that it still would be considered a reasonably good buy in the long run as there's bound to be a good few new games on it probably well into 2008, but its the back catalouyge which you should really be careing about and that could last you years. Oh and you can use a PS1 memory card... but only for PS1 games. In fact, you must have a PS1 card in order to save a PS1 game I believe Price wise: well, its random new consoles are still fairly expensive due to the fact that there is a slimlined version around which only has been recently released (04). GAME on-line seems to be dreadful for prices and refuses to sell the console by itself and instead giving you half-baked games for a high end price tag. If its not a first hand one your after than the prices are actually very good as you can buy the older bigger models (The one I have is the Limited Edition Silent Silver PS2) at a dramatically lower price.. the real problem is finding a first hand non silm-lined one. Other prices and places: Gamestation: http://www.gamestation.co.uk/cat.asp...on2&t=hardware Argos: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse...1500006838.htm EDIT: I must say that despite me having a top range PC, and a Wii I still actively play my PS2 quite alot, in fact the last three games I bought where all for my PS2.. and out of the last 11 games I have bought (since the end of June) 6 of them are PS2 games, while 2 are Wii VC and only one each for Wii, GC and PC.

I would much rather a first hand machine, I dislike 2nd hand goods, but I suppose if the price difference is that drastic I could consider getting it 2nd hand.
Sounds like a good choice from what you said, I'm highly considering it but it's still not for certain. Thanks a ton for the help As for memory cards, how much will they set me back then?

http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStatio...d/Product.html there you go ^^
Try to look for it cheaper but that's not a bad price considering I've seen them retaling for £20

Yup, that should be fine to be honest, I only have 1 Memory card and its done me since 2003. Although now it's starting to get a bit full /w 22 saves on it. I still have 936KB left which is enough for 2-3 more games

It's just the GC one I've played, that the direct sequel to it. I probably should have mentioned I meant that one Thanks for all the help people Which would be the best GTA to start on? I've briefly played 3 and 4 over friends houses, and loved them both but obviously I've never had the chance to get one.
