no other game (exept Rendering Ranger) shows what the "weak" SNES can actualy DO with it's power like Super Turrican 2.
It really puts some NeoGeo action games to shame.

Never played the game, but I have heard the name.

Factor 5 make some good stuff, so depending on what it is, I can see myself trying these

I was a fan of the original series, at least the first two episodes.
I played Turrican on C=64 (one of my first floppy disk games) and the second on Amiga.

They just lacked some adventure elements and exploration was limited to some hidden power-ups.

Anyway they were long games, and the world was finally happy to have Metroid-like games on microcomputers.

Having viewed footage, I fail to see the metroid resemblence (SP). This is Contra with another name.

But I love Contra so I think i'll be getting these 2 for sure

Turrican is a mix between Contra and Super Metroid.

While Contra really has no exploration, and Super Metroid is full of it,
Turrican is a good mix of both styles. You can't go back to explore if you've beaten a stage, but every stage in it's own is big and there's plenty to find if you go astray the path and there are many hidden secret passages as well.

I looked at the gameplay videos and read up some more, and it seems like the first one is pretty much an updated conversion from the Amiga game, while the sequel seems to be quite different from the game I know. Not sure whether that's a good thing. That remains to be seen.
