Default Super Castlevania IV Discussion

I loved SCIV. Probably my favorite Castlevania. The graphics were amazing for its time, the level design was impressive, the difficulty was reasonable (not too easy like SotN, and there was a hard mode you can access through password in case you don't want to play the traditional difficulty), and the music was incredible.

SotN was an excellent game too, but copied Super Metroid. Super Metroid gameplay elements are certainly not a bad thing, but felt unoriginal in SotN. Also, RPG elements are unnecessary in an action adventure title.

I highly recommend anyone with a Wii to buy Super Castlevania IV. My second favorite SNES game (oddly enough, behind Super Metroid), on Virtual Console.

I respectfully disagree, good sir.

Okay, I may not be the most informed individual when it comes to Castlevania (my first time testing the series was on the Virtual Console, after all), but I found Castlevania IV to be a bit slow and tedious. I was kind of wishing I'd accidently stumble upon a run button or something. On the contrary, from what I've seen, of course, Castlevania 3 on the NES looks like a more interesting game.

I do agree Simon's movement is sluggish, but aside from that, the game is excellent.

Nope. I have grown up playing a lot of peppier cartoon-style platformers, though. Perhaps I’m expecting too much from Belmont?

You know, I tried Castlevania IV once and didn't like it. Then for some odd reason I went back to it and now I absolutely love it. I've never done that with a game before, so cheers to Castlevania IV.

It's my first Castlevania. The last level is so awesome.

Like 15 years later and I'm still annoyed by the rotating level.

That was always one of my favorites. Besides the boss. The game is a lot easier when you play through it a second or third time.
