Default Is a Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition release on the VC likely?

Is a VC release of Street Fighter 2 SCE likely to happen for the VC? I mean we already got Street Fighter 2 World Warrior and Turbo on SNES, so why not the Genesis/Megadrive game?

I happen to favor the Genesis/Megadrive version over the SNES Turbo game anyday, I mean the code to have more speed on Champion mode, plus the arcade like sound quality over the SNES game makes it better (this is my opinion, yours may differ); Turbo mode also has more stars, even though the SNES port had to input a code.

So is this a possibility or not gonna happen?

Its possible, as a filler release I reckon.

I too prefer the Mega Drive version, but I suspect we won't see it. Maybe as a filler as ALK says, but even then I'm not sure.

I did see the Mega Drive version of SFII in Woolworth's today, for £9, as one of those plug-directly-into-the-TV games. If it never comes to VC, there's a decent alternative.

The sound on the Megadrive version was horrible compared to the SNES version. Even my die hard Megadrive owning friend begrudgingly addmitted so at the time. Still it wasn't too bad a job, seeing as the Megadrive was technically inferior to the SNES.

We still haven't seen them both outside Japan, so maybe not...

That's odd; it's usually the other way around, with the Mega Drive's sound capabilities making a mockery of the SNES'. The poor little thing was working very hard to deliver SFII though, so I wouldn't be surprised if some corners were cut.

I don't think anything on the Megadrive could match the audio treats that Castlevania IV, Axelay, and Super Aleste had to offer. Wasn't the SNES the first console with Stereo sound too?

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Gunstar Heroes. Honestly, for a Gen game, it had some good music! Most of the Treasure games tend to, specificaly Yu Yu Hakusho.

Possibly. Still want SSFII though...

Quote:
The SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis received a port of Super Street Fighter II a year after their respective SF2'T port, but was a commercial failure at retail and a financial hit to Capcom who had overestimated consumer demand. This was a sign that the audience was not willing to pay for annual updates of SFII, especially when Super Street Fighter II Turbo already superseded Super Street Fighter II in the arcades and fixed many of the complaints people had of SSF2. There was also endless speculation that Capcom would release Super Street Fighter II Turbo in less than a year, causing people to wait for what was thought to be the inevitable SSF2T release though no port was ultimately released. Despite this, Capcom plans to release this game on the Wii Virtual Console sometime in 2007.
