No, but you can apparently buy VC cards with them from the official site. Makes me wish I hadn't wasted mine on screensavers when the site first started

You'll be able to buy Wii Points soon, but not just yet. You'll also get stars from VC games.

I dunno why people seem to be going so mad about these. They'll probably have about 5000 sets of 1000 points to give away which will last for half an hour on the site, and they'll be limited to one per email.

I got 1000 points when they accidently put them up for 789 stars, and the numbers were very limited and it was 1 per customer. I was just lucky I checked in the short time they were up.

And I wasn't lucky in thinking to myself "I'd better not risk this, it's obviously a mistake" ^_^... Bah ¬_¬ Fair play thoguh, they handled it very well.

The way that the VIP/Wii Shop accounts are linked suggests that if something happens on one end, it can get transferred to the other (Notice how VC games you've bought are shown immediately in the 'My Stars' section on the website). It'd be pretty daft if they ended up using codes ala Wii Points cards, but I imagine they don't want to affect sales of Wii points too heavily.

It's strange, we had that mistake they made suggesting they'll work like 1000 Wii points cards, yet they always word it as 'transferring stars to Wii points', which suggests it'll be a full out conversion as opposed to paying stars for a code to get points. It doesn't help how many times they've said we'll be getting it all 'soon'!

No, it's an European exclusive.

I doubt it very much it'll be limited to 1 per email, or that there will be limited points available. If they do, there'll be one angry email going Nintendo's way.
