In my ideal world, there would be no Star Fox Wii. So that's about as much as I can say about that.

I think they're focusing a lot on other titles right now. But they are Nintendo and known to be 'working on' other titles like Zelda or Star Fox or new Mario games for 2, 3 or even 5 years and just keeping them on the back burner until they're done with all their other current projects. Then suddenly making it the main thing they are working on.

Let's just hope they are going to head the next Star Fox outing. Fix the series...

I wouldn't mind another Starfox, as long as any ground-based missions (including landmaster-only ones) were to be omitted. At that point, they might just as well release the original on the VC and call it a day, since I doubt the series will ever return to the greatness of the first game.

I haven't played the first one on SNES, but for me it feels a bit like the Crysis effect. It had really, really nice graphics (and probably good gameplay) that was the new thing (3D) so it got a lot of popularity because of this.

Then the next one arrived on N64 and that one is the only one I've played. For like an half of an hour though so I can't really make a statement if it's good or not. Most people says it's a good game, but I dunno about that myself since I just flew around and didn't find who to shoot at.

Then StarFox Adventures came...and it was a total mess in my opinion. I actually bought the game for the same reason as stated on the first game, the graphics that were outstanding for the gamecube. This one really lacked in gameplay though, to simplify it, it was like the water temple in OOT all over again...the entire game. The puzzles were boring, you had an annoying side-kick for the whole game, StarFox only had three animations to his attacks or something and overall a boring weapon system.

The only bright light I saw in StarFox Adventures was the flight parts were the game really shined a bit, a bit like a shmup but in a 3D view like Sin & Punishment (based from videos, haven't played) and those parts were really fun.

In conclusion, I wouldn't buy a "Adventure" kind of StarFox game but if it was the flight sequences were you were hunting points in a cool "Arcade" style I would maybe consider it, maybe different characters with different abilities (fast, heavy hitter, defensive and such) to reach the higher points.

*Note that all these thoughts are from my experiences, I haven't played the first StarFox game so I can't really say if it was the graphics that sold the game or not, it's just what I think. I certinly hope I didn't anger someone ^_^

They need to just go back to what made Star Fox awesome in the first place. Flying around shooting at stuff. That's all it needs to be. Instead they keep trying "new" things that really don't work.

As long as they keep the main focus on the air/space combat aspect of the game, I will definatly get it. They could even remake Starfox 64 for all I care.

I couldn't even get into SF64. I don't know what it is. The original was a classic, but maybe it ended there for me.

Agreed; Starfox is a rails shooter, and when I buy a Starfox game I want to fly an Arwing and shoot stuff. Ground missions, landmaster, etc. just get in the way.

The thing that kills me is that it'd be relatively easy for Nintendo to give us exactly what we want. A new Starfox game that's true to the gameplay style of the original wouldn't take that much dev time, since the game concept is simple by today's standards. A graphically intense, fun rails shooter could sell for $29 US and make a hefty profit. Hell, it could even be Wii-ware. But instead they'll probably pump it full of gameplay elements that have no business being there, ground missions, Starfox Adventure-style puzzles, etc., so they can justify charging $50 for it.

Landmaster Missions are fine by me. I don't even mind using the Aquas or whatever, as long as this time there aren't 19223758293741283258752903 fish and they all don't dive right for you. No, the 'non-flying' missions are fine. They just need to be programmed and tweaked to be as good as the air missions. But of course, the air missions need to be at least 3/4 the game, just like Star Fox 64.

But Ground Missions where you get out of your vehicles was the mistake. Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Assault and countless XBOX, PS2 and PSX titles could have shown them that. I wouldn't mind them getting out of their ships to do some cut-scenes and talking to each other. Nintendo said they didn't like the story of Command and so why not have EADfix the story with some cut scenes of their own? (Hey, more chance of some Fox/Falco arguments, Star Wolf ownage and Krystal air time, lol). But after the cutscenes, they need to jump back in their ships and fly.
