Default Square-Enix VC Games

So far Square says they do not want to release anything yet on the VC, anyone else saddened about this news? I would love to play Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana again!

It will be a shame if Chrono Trigger is never released on the VC. Chrono Trigger is the best RPG that I've ever played and even though I still have it for the SNES I'll still download it if it ever gets released.

Yes, Chrono Trigger is a must-be, and also Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) the best Game I've ever played in my life.

I hope we get to see some of these classic Square rpgs. Especially as, unlike the FF series, I don't think they've been re-released thus far.

@Regii

Problem is, a lot of these games were never released in Europe or the US. Even if Chrono Trigger came out in the States, under current VC rules, we won't get it, and things like Seiken Densetsu 3 most people outside Japan have only played fan translations of on emulators (evil no-gooders ). Square isn't likely to put teams to work on games they thought were of niche appeal 10 years ago, much less now.

Lest we forget, it took DeJap nearly 5 years to release a complete translation of SD3, and even after another group had translated FFV, Square released an inferior (overwhelming opinion, this) translation of its own in all those PS and GBA re-releases; obviously they're loath to use that work, even though they probably could.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd buy them in a heartbeat if they came out (if it's one thing Square underestimates, it's the fanaticism of SNES-era RPG gamers), just think it's unlikely that they will.

I think the big ones are

Super Mario RPG
Secret of Mana (this was Square, right?)
Chrono Trigger

And then the Final Fantasys which will probably never make it to the VC.

I've already responded to this in the other thread, but as far as I'm aware, Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo US have both said that there is no such rule, and that there's every possibility that we'll see Chrono Trigger on Euro VC (for example). They may have changed that position since, but I don't recall them doing so.

Has chrono trigger ever been ported or is it a one time U.S. game?

I believe that Chrono Trigger has never been released in Europe.

Also, apparently there are some copyright and ownership issues with the game, which may make a VC re-release difficult.
