Sonic Unleashed - New Sonic Game

A while ago sega trademarked the name Sonic Unleashed and now it seems as though some screenshots have been revealed for this game. Some screens of the game have been leaked off Segas FTP site. So far it looks like screens of a CGI intro and some gameplay Screens.

So far the first screens seem to show eggman trapping super sonic whilst the others show some gameplay footage. It looks pretty awesome (Except one screen where sonic is close up to the camera with his mouth wide open).
No ones sure which console this is for. Gameplay looks a bit secret rings-ish and graphics look very 360/PS3-ish so its hard to tell.

Second update today. Gameplay trailer and confirmed multiplatform. Not only that the gameplay trailer shows some awesome 2.5D platforming action. Looks like sonic has gone back to his roots

Update 03/04/08

Sonic Unleashed now official. Sega announce the game along with a game page on there site with absolutely no info . Also its coming to Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 & PS2.

The gameplay looks to be similar in style to Sonic and the Secret Rings; this has brought speculation to the table that Sonic Unleashed could well be headed for the Nintendo Wii. The graphics look a bit too good for the motion-detecting system, however.

Could be using the PS3's motion controls I suppose, it would be perfectly possible to have Secret Rings gameplay on PS3. But personally I can't see how people can tell what the gameplay will be like just from those screenshots.

If it does happen to be for PS3 like you said segafan I hope its not a PS3 exclusive since i dont have one. If this does come out as a PS3 exclusive it will be my main reason to get one.

I haven't got a PS3 or a 360, but I intend to get one or the other in the next year. If it's exclusive it might just tip the balance in favour of a PS3. I personally hope it's not a Secret Rings-style game, not that it was bad, I just hope it's something else.

Agreed. I prefer the traditional hated 3D sonic platformers

Hope its a Wii game. True, it looks a bit too good for a Wii game, but maybe they re pushing the Wii hardware to the max?

Or, could very well be a HOAX.

I think if it was a hoax they'd make it a bit more interesting to be worth doing. Those screenshots don't look bad but they don't really tell you anything about the game, all we now know is at least a part of it's set in a desert but so are a lot of Sonic levels, it could be any Sonic game so far.

I thought you were joking at first but no. On the extremly plus side they are right on Sonic Stadium. Everything looks gorgeous. Maybe good looks and hopefully good gameplay will save this game from what sounds like a terrible storyline. And i dont normally mind the cheesy stories of sonic & co. But this one.......WTF!?
Plus 2.5D Platforming at parts. Thats always a plus It does look very secret rings-ish still but things are looking too beautiful to be Wii.
