Default Sonic!

It was only a matter of time. :P

Just wondering, is there much difference between the MS and GG versions of Sonic 1 (And any others that both consoles had)? I have the GG Versions many times thanks to Gems and Sonic Adventure DX, but am curious about the MS versions.

not really. Bigger resolution and some different sprites but thats about it. Oh yeah and there is like 1 or 2 object placements that have been changed (The emerald in the labyrinth zone has been moved for one thing). But really the games are practically identical.

In the SMS versions, you can see things before running into them, and thatīs basically it.

Oh, and the first boss in Sonic 2 can be beaten in less than a million tries.

I want the SMS versions on the VC, rather than the GG versions. I cant see Sega or Nintendo bothering, when they can just rip them off Gems and Adventure.

It would make more sence if they make the MS versions available. A lot of Sonic followers will no doubt have the GG versions already thanks to Adventure DX, the PS2, X Box and PC Versions of Mega Collection and Gems Collection, so no doubt the more obsessed fans would download the MS versions, rather then own the GG Versions again.

Besides, the MS versions are more fit for TV playing...

iirc, Sonic 1 on SMS had different coloured chaos emeralds, rather than all of them being blue. Not entirely sure on this, as I was 10/11 when I last played an SMS2

Well if they make the SMS versions available, might get one of them. My VC collection seems so lonesome without a bit of Sonic T.T

The Game Gear had a slightly better colour palette, and in the case of the Sonic titles, as others have mentioned, the action is a bit more zoomed in, so your field of vision is smaller, and the games are more difficult as a result. Not a huge difference, really.
