Default Shining Force!

Hey I downloaded Shining Force, and absolutely love it! It's everything that I remember it being. However, is there any word on SF2 coming out for the VC? That would absolutely make my year! Thanks!

I thought of downloading it, but I was looking at some videos on YouTube and kept being annoyed everytime by the music that is in the battles and never reaches beyond 10 seconds. And of course the lack of money

I think it would be better if they just kept the background music from the battle itself while characters are attacking. But apart from that it looks like a really good game.

It is a great game, although the random levelling-up is a bit of a pain; you get random ability boosts when you level up, including nothing at all sometimes!

I believe the sequel has also been rated, but I don't think it's been given a release date yet.

Alright, sweet, thanks Kelvin, I just wanted to make sure it's coming out at SOME point, so it's good that it was rated.

The game looks good, I'm not sure if I should take the plunge and download it though. I don't have as much free time as I used to, which I'm sure this will demand a lot of, and I've very easily dissapointed in games.
The Youtube video's look good, but the game does look very repetative.

Actually, Shining Force is relatively short as far as rpgs go, as it's more about the battles than the plot. You do have to do a fair bit of "grinding", but you have to do that in any rpg, and the plot itself doesn't go on too long.

Less story, more fighting eh?
Ok, I don't think it suits me. I often say that a japanese RPG often is a book presented as a game. The battles shouldn't be the important part of the game, I'll gladly take more advanced dialog and a improved story.
From my point of view, that's the problem with Breath of Fire II. The translation is too crude so you're probably missing out on lots of personality of the characters and it also makes it harder to follow the story.

I wouldn't say it's a flaw though. The game's focus is on battles, and that's where the depth is, in the tactics and skills of the combatants. The plot is only needed to get you from one battle to another.

I was mostly thinking of the FF games (and some other games like it) were the battles aren't the important part of the game. It's much harder to make a battle oriented RPG since the battle system must be perfect so the player won't lose interest. I think it won't suit me that well since I would always get annoyed by the music that repeats all the time and go play Soldier Blade in pure rage

It's probably a good game, but I'm more the "story-RPG" person.
