Best Sonic?

Sonic CD. I'm gonna get it as soon as it hits the VC (only if they release the original, unaltered PAL and/or Japanese versions over here).

Sonic 3. I hated 3D blast, but Sonic CD was awesome.

Sonic 2 & 3 are about tied. I'll go with 2 just because it's the first one I played and is still my personal fav, even though I can't really say it's better than 3.

Never played S&K or Sonic CD.

In my eyes I liked Sonic 3 the best it introduced Knuckles and you learn to hate how he screws you in the story line lol. I like sonic 3 then 2 and 1. 3D Blast is absolutly horrible in sonic 3 you could save to thats always a plus.

Yes sonic 3 has a save feature. It will save at the beginning of each level. However if you get to act 2 in a level then go off and come back on and load your game it will start you back at act 1. But i think sonic 2 is best. Then sonic 3 & knuckles. Then Sonic 3 solo. Then Sonic & Knuckles solo. Then sonic 1.
I love sonic 1. But after playing the other ones you can see its flaws and see that the speed of it sucks compared to the others. Despite the fact it is still pretty fast.

Sonic 2, for sure. Sonic 1 seemed slower than the rest, and S3&K... well, just wasn't quite as good as S2. Don't get me wrong; S3&K is a superb game, and the music is wonderful (I still adore the Death Egg Zone boss music), but Sonic 2 is just a bit better.

The first Sonic game with the save function was Sonic CD, but that made it too quick to complete (but it was saved by the time trial feature). I'm not a huge fan of Sonic CD. Sonic 3 got the balance much better with saving.

I see Sonic & Knuckles as more of an expansion pack than a game on its own. In a way I don't think they should have allowed you to play it on its own, they should have made it so it only works when plugged into Sonic 2 or 3 (or Sonic 1 for the bonus game), it's not really playable on its own.

This is a topic about sonic. Since sonic and mario are rivals i think that in this topic we have a right to bash mario. And you can go bash sonic in your stupid little fat moustached faced mario topics .

That's what ruined Sonic games forever. In the good old Mega Drive days Sonic games were brilliant Sonic never said a word - Sega let the awesome gameplay do the talking. But then Sonic Adventure came along, Sonic opened his mouth, loads of unnessecary characters showed up (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Robotnik and maybe Amy is all you need) and the Sonic series went downhill from there. All Mario says is "yipee!", "woah" and "it's a me a Mario" and his games are consistantly fantastic.

The best Sonic game has to be Sonic 3 and Knuckles. The game was huge and you took different routes through the game depending on what character you chose.

If i wanted to buy a Sonic, which one should i download?. I only want to download one for now, because i only have wii points for 1 until i buy more!.

So what's the definitive Sonic that i have to have?. Have in mind i never played them (well for a short while in a store long long time ago lol, had the NES and SNES).

Edit: About Sonic and Mario, i don't think is fair for me to say Mario, because i'm a Mario fan and never played a Sonic game xP, but hey!, they both will be on SSBB!, it's going to be awesome to beat the crap out of each other, old school console war!.Sonic design is very cool and has been always, but somehow i don't like talking animals xP.

I've said this many times before and can't say it enough. Don't download Sonic, get Sonic Mega Collection instead, it's much cheaper and runs in 60Hz.

Amen. Unless I'm totally mistaken thus topic came up a few months ago ANC that was my own opinion. And Sonic pretty much lost his mojo after the MD games all the way to the GBA games, which were actually fantastic. Sonic 2 though, is the Sega gospel.

Do you prefer the 2D Sonic games to the 2D Mario games? If so that's a little bearable (Although I still think your nuts) as the 2D sonics were of great quality.

Your just trying to hurt me . First your mean to shadow (My favourite character ) then your mean to Sonic 2 (My favourite game). And yeah i do prefer the 2D sonic's to 2D Mario's. I greatly prefer them. And i still prefer 3D Sonic's. Ive grown up with sonic though and i will always prefer him to mario. I do like mario when it comes to mario alone....but when it comes to Sonic & Mario i hate mario .

Out of the 5 sonic games I've played, sonic 2 is the best. I want to get sonic 3 but it just seams like it wont live up to number 2

Sonic 2 improves on the original, Sonic 3 adds to 2, but doesn't really improve on it.

I can *kind of, almost* bear with someone preferring Sonic 2 or sonic 3 & knuckles to one of the Mario bros games. As those games were also of great quality. But anyone who prefers 3D Sonic games to the Amazing 3D Mario games (Even sunshine) is absolutely insane

How often do you see glitchy deaths, terrible cameras, running segments where you can actually put the controller down for a few minutes etc?

I liked Sonic adventure, it was awesome (Despite its many flaws) but after that and since the introduction of Shadow the ****hog I feel sonic has officially died.
