Ya, it was definetley one of the better levels/stages/areas/zones/parts of Sonic 2.

cuz its most advanced
playing either sonic+tails, just sonic, tails or knuckles
i dont really care about super or hyper sonic, tails and knuckles ( i got em all back then)

that i like it that we can choose Sonic + tails (sidekick), sonic alone, tails alone and knuckles alone
and that i dont care about those transformations, but i did get em all with sonic+tails, tails alone and knuckles alone

ps. i put the word "alone" at all names before i get: tails cant be with knuckles or something

You should play Sonic Advance 3, you can choose any combination of two characters that you want(Knuckles+Sonic, Tails+Amy, Creme+Knuckles, etc.). Plus it's a pretty good game(although the 5th boss is a *****).

I'm another one of those "Wierdos" who likes Sonic 1 the most.
Why?
2 Reasons:
a) I found the levels on 2&3 to be too convoluted
b) I don't like Tails

Ah! Sonic Advance 3! I played that back in the day but I could never get the last emerald! It's too hard but I did like the idea of fighting Gemerl. I regret selling it but the only level I liked on it was the first 3 (Route something) and the Sunhill/Sunset Zones (The music was awesome).
