Wan't this the game where the Hospital prices kept increasing every time you used it? If so, they failed to mention it in the review.

Failing to mention something in a review? That's not like them.

I have played through it. An easy 8/10 for me.

I can't see any of your worries being realistic.

There was no hospital rising price stuff and you don't need the hospitals anyway. And the game saved the progress automatically. You never need to write down or put in a password thanks to the Wii's suspend feature. You had unlimited continues and you kept all your Gold, Equipment, Heart Containers, Game progress when you lose all your health and have no health potions available. You just started back in the town, the centre of the game world. There was nothing annoying about this game. I can see why this is one of the best Master System (and Turbografx) games.

This is my second favourite Wonder Boy right after Monster Boy in Monster World.

One good thing about having a password in this game though, is that you can change between the Master Systems original sound and that FM Synthesizer for 16-bit sound. This makes the soundtrack extremely catchy. I love the soundtrack with this FM Synthesizer. But in case if you want to listen to the game with the poor-kids-i-have-no-fm-synthesizer-for-my-master-system-version you can switch to it by pressing the minus-button (just like in Wonder Boy In Monster Land - it had the same feature). The downside of this feature is that when you switch that option, the game resets. That's why it's good to have the password as an additional option.
And of course you want to keep that password that you get when you're before the final boss, with all equipment, full items, tons of gold, gemstones, all transformations and everything.

I can fully recommend this game to all jump & run / action adventure fans.

Thanks for the review, dude, and thanks for clearing up that Hospital pricing issue, since it was really the only thing that was keeping me from getting it. Now it's back on top of my wishlist, and I can't wait until it comes to NA.

Look! An FAQ

Quote:

Which games/comics of the Wonder Boy series is it based on?

Wonder Boy was one of the first and only game series to follow a different canon on each platform it was released on, and in some cases a completely different brand name. The film makes no attempt to coecile all the different incarnations and canon, but does take elements from Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap, Wonder Boy In Monster World, and the comic series Wonder Boy In Demon World.

What happened to the live action movie with Uwe Boll?

After a long drawn out fight with Sega refusing to ressurrect the character, Uwe Boll walked. Ergo, the project became an unauthorised CGI project led by its screenwriter Robin Morningstar.

Unauthorised?

It's the most technologically accomplished fan-film of all time and made for no profit. Robin Morningstar recruited CGI masters from around the world and some of the live-action cast gamely made the jump. The offer remains open for Sega to sanction it as merchandise.

That can't be real, can it? Isn't that just a prototype PS1 CG tool or some kid's student project?

I refer the honourable gentlemen to the earlier answer from the FAQ

See that? CGI masters. These guys are masters of their art. They have contributed to the most technologically accomplished fan-film of all time. We are mere worms in their mighty presence and who are we to mock their efforts?!

Someone needs to invent a new kind of LOL for this. Sega has made some lousy business decisions before, but I don't think they'd be crazy enough to attach their name to this. Hell, it might be to ****ty even to warrant a C&D!

The CGI looks like ****. Sega could make a better CGI movie than this wanna be garbage. No wonder Sega wouldn't have to do anything with it.

Oh well, back on topic. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is the best Master System game yet. Are there any Master System games equal in quality?

After viewing the imdb info and youtube video I can now state with confidence that there is no Wonderboy film. It is a joke at best. I have seen fan made films of other series and they have actually been very good for having no budget. This looks like total crap. It is not even direct to DVD quality or Saturday morning cartoon quality.

What's up with the one character's head @ 1:03?

Well I was personally wondering if that wonderboy film will be any good, probably not.

Oh and 'Loves2KOn00bs' doesn't like that I don't like his username or that I called him out on his really bad joke. Poor guy.

Did you ever play wonder boy 3 jog?

I've played the superior TG16 version. Good memories of that game. I should really rebeat it on VC sometime soon.

Well, Loves2KOnoobs is a person who has a very active imagination and a super ability allowing him to alienate him in less then a week of being a member of an online community.

I remember that one kid that was a member here that no one liked and he eventually got banned (bluebomber or bomber something).....I liked him way better then Loves2KOnoobs. He at least seemed modest and honest and did not pretend to be someone else. If my memory is correct, he was just really annoying and swore a lot.

That may have been 720Bomber / Jirachi720 and he was a special type of crazy. He would say he hated things in the chatbox and made some ill advised comments about Nazis and such and then get banned.

He would also post rants and abuse and then claim that it was done by someone else at his school. He then claimed that this was all an elaborate ruse and that he was actually a Jehovah's Witness and that he was checking the site for its suitability. This all came out when Kanti was having a chat with him about religion.

I totally appreciate your sentiment, but I can't resist pointing out the hilarious irony here: bomber was the opposite of modest and honest—he talked smack about being the best SSBB player the world had ever known (modest) and the dropped link whenever he came close to losing (honest). But this is the kicker: he literally pretended to be someone else, when he created a fake account after his t-ban!

I love the world.

Ah, shameee!!
Such a good Master System game gets flooded with off-topic garbage!

Please open up a Urban Champion thread for these kind of things.
That game would fit very well, since yer fighting and it's only fun if yer drunk.

It's on-topic because this Boobs guy is starring in a Wonder Boy III movie.
