Default SD cards

I was wondering if it's worth backing up my VC games since I can just redownload if I erase them. Can I play them on anthor Wii or just my own?

Games can only be played on your own Wii.

Although I have an SD card I kind of regret as the only benefit I can see is not having to delete / re-download when you run out of internal space. May be more worthwhile once you can play games straight from the sd card (which isn't currently possible - you have to copy it back to the wii).

I understand that technology should help making life easier, but this is chronic laziness.

Keeping the SD card inside the Wii and copying files back and forth is not such a great effort!

Oh, and backing-up is the best practice one can ever do, so it's not fair calling it the "only benefit".

backing up is a benefit if you actually lost the files completely...you can always download it again so it may be best practice for saved game files and the like the VC game itself can (theoretically) never be lost.

Nintendo bought the rights for the FAT system a while ago, if this is added in a future firmware update it might solve the the "reading direct from SD memory" thing pople want, oh and possible a USB HardDrive addon or so

It might do, except for people like me who run Macs. FAT don't play nice with OS X.

Save state is "embedded in the image"? dident know/notice yet. What i think off SD cards is backup for if/when the download service goes offline. Only issue we got then is the wii's lifetime itself. Is it not possible to forward the download service account if the wii dies right? (since the accout follows the wii AFAIK). And how do they manage it if it does. Assuming you downloaded say 50 games, its all virtual and you cant use the physical cartridges itself, like store bought games(do you have to throw new cash at them to regain the investment?)... (sorry for the paranoia, better safe than sorry right )

Peace

I think it's a matter of letting Nintendo know...and linking your Wii Shop account to your Nintendo account wouldn't hurt your case either.
