To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a film that's really frightened me deep down in my core. Most of the "scary" movies I've seen have been the typical Hollywood cheap scares that don't stay with you.

Hmm...I honestly don't know. I haven't really seen any scary movies lately.
I guess I'll just say Cloverfield, because that movie got my adrenaline going around the last 20 minutes.

Hostel. That was a horror, a good one at that. These days Hollywood does make cheap crappy movies. But, Hostel, actually kinda scared me, because of the gore and disgusting scenes.
Another movie I was always scared of was "House On Haunted Hill". I know a lot of people probably like that movie, but I thought there were some scenes in that movie that just scared me straight. |

I really can't think of any movies that truly scared me. However, the games Silent Hill 1 and 3 scared the crap out of me. Silent Hill 2 wasn't as scary as those two, it was just disturbing.

Alien is pretty scary. I would imagine it would have been even scarier on the big screen. It did a lot of things that scary movies had never done before, so it was influential, but even watching it thirty years later on a small screen genuinely scared me, and I have been primed with all of its tricks and gimmicks for years in the Hollywood jungle. I think that says a lot.
Probably my favorite horror movie is John Carpenter's The Thing. Great movie. Very, very scary.

Kubrick's version of The Shining is still probably the scariest movie I've ever seen, even though it's different from the book. But yeah, movies don't really scare me, though I can still admire the artistry and storytelling of the ones that're done well.

I read the title of this thread and said "Alien". When i was like 7 my dad said Alien was a good movie, so i hired it... it scared the abosulte **** out of me for years, i couldnt bring myself to watch aliens, or 3. Then finally i bit the bullet and watched the rest of the series.. needless to say i love and respect it to this day. One of my favourite series ever. And it did alot of things that never been done before, mainly being Ripley being the first female hero in a movie. Also, much love for the thing |
