Default Starfox Adventures

I got this one week ago, and like it a lot. Ok maybe it' s not a very long (like other Rare titles) or difficult game, but it' s still one of the greater cube adventure games and still deserves a place in your cube retro collection. What do you guys think ?

It's been a long while since I've briefly played this game, from what I can remember it was great. It's currently on my wishlist of Gamecube games to pick up.

My only problem with Adventures is that its a "Star Fox" game when it really shouldn't be. I some what enjoyed it though.

The Star Fox in the title really killed it for me. It just feels like some evil demon took over my friend's body and is trying to blend in but just looks awkward and scary.

...

Well, that's a bit extreme but what I'm trying to say is I don't care much for this game.

This is maybe not one of the 'classic' Starfox games but is really a average to good adventure game. In my opinion: As a Nintendo fan you shouldn' t mis it in your collection.

I really enjoyed this, and is a great game by all means, but there's too many other games on Wii I have yet to finish; I won't get this out of its box for a while

I found this game to be painfully average.

Regardless all the flak it gets I really enjoyed what I played of it. I've owned it since around release but for some reason I never kept through it. If it's a short game then maybe I should make it a weekend project =X

I' ve played it through not long ago, and ok it' s not an original starfox concept and as an adventure it' s a bit short, but that is no reason to not finishing the game.
If I must rate this game, I should say 8/10.

I liked this game. It started out slow, and story-and-character-wise, it always has this feeling that it's not really a Star Fox game. Still, it's a fun adventure, and I'll try to finish it, once I finally figure out where to go.

Probably because it isn't. Dinosaur Planet was not meant to be a Starfox game till Miyamoto decided to dump the franchise on Rare against their will. Unsurprisingly they perhaps took a dump back as a parting shot and that may explain why SFA is the tedious Zelda by numbers it is.

Fun fact though: Its Lemmy (from Motorhead)'s faivoraite game!

I've never heard that before but it explains why the flying bits were tacked on and the entirely mad ending. Do you know how far development got before if became a SF game?

There's a small bit on the development on its wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fox_Adventures

but considering it moved from N64 dev to GC dev before its rebranding I'd think it was fairly far in. I remember quite a lot of previews of the game as DP in several UK magazines before Miyamoto had one of his less inspired ideas.

The N64 beta can be viewed here:

Perhaps Keeper can track down a rare beta cart

I don' t see the need of complaining about this game ? Ok its not a regular starfox game but still a good adventure franchise, a bit of mixture never is bad to try. It worked well for this game imo.

My complaints about this game have little if anything to do with the fact that its not a regular starfox game and more to do with the fact that its just a rather bad game that tries desperately to ape Zelda without really getting any of the basic principles right.
My point about Nintendo's shoehorning of Starfox onto Rare is that it probably didn't inspire them to make it any better. In my opinion Nintendo behaved like an interfering movie studio intent on casting their big name stars in a film that clearly didn't fit them.
