| No. The Advance Game port never worked from day one. Nothing by Datel or Intec will work with Wii anymore, if you've updated it in the past 9 months. The original Action Replay worked with Wii, but was glitchy. Datel releases a new Action Replay with "Works with Wii" stamped on it. Nintendo released an update that breaks it sometime in summer '07. Several eons later, Datel releases a new Action replay for GameCube, as well as a Wii freeloader. March '08, less than a month after it's release, Nintendo blocks it as well, releasing an update that permanently blocks all trunca-signed discs. Since then, nobody has been able to crack the encryption technology that is biult into all Gamecube/Wii discs. If they succede in creating a disc that is up to spec, then proceding to market new devices may be a violation of the Digital Mellinnium Copyright Act, which expressly forbids defeating encryption technology. I guess you could install a modchip, however doing so will void your warranty and Nintendo has found a way to detect these chips and disable them, which could possibly brick your Wii. So if you want homebrew, cheats, and other unlisensced devices, then don't do it on a console with upgradable firmware. Stick with the original DS/DS Lite or the Gamecube.

| I don't understand why Nintendo hates cheating devices (and making the Wii region-free, but that's another story). I mean, the only time it really hurts anyone is when people don't know what they're doing or they're playing an online game and ruining the experience. If Nintendo and Datel could get some sort of agreement about not doing the latter, it would be great. |

| Wow, so, Nintendo HAS to be the reason they do that... right... Do oreally know nothing about any laws? Some things are required by law, even for Nintendo. Region locks are actually because of international standards. DUH. Much goes for things like cheating stuff too. Not to mention that, since I bet you've never worked hard like them so you'd NEVER understand, WHY would they WANT to support the cheating in a game they worked hard to make. You can't beat it because you're just so terribly BAD AT GAMES and a quitter (a.k.a.: Can't beat it on your own)... THEN DON'T PLAY AT ALL!!! No one wants a whiner. I've used cheats several times, but for very specialized reasons, and don't really care if Nintendo makes it so I can't. "Boo hoo, I have to beat the game the way they made it to be beaten!!!" BAH. |

Please try and be a bit more civil with your posts in future or at least wait until you have been posting here long enough to actually have some level of understanding of the people you choose to rip into. This will avoid you coming off as an ignorant know-it-all and will mean people might wish to engage in discussion with you in the future.

Now, if you're still following me, there's something else you might not have been aware of: different people have fun in different ways. This point isn't as obvious as the first one, since you're the centre of the universe and probably never even considered that some people like different things, but it's true! Some people like to beat games the way they're "meant" to be beaten, some people like to challenge themselves to all kinds of difficult tasks... and some people get a lot of pleasure out of screwing around with things and doing stuff they weren't supposed to be able to do! Some people don't find running to the end of the stage as fun as throwing a wrench into the code and seeing what happens. Weird, eh? But I suppose it kinda makes sense if you think about it. There are a lot of people who are perfectly happy ****ing their spouses missionary style. But there are also a ton of people who have a lot of fun pounding away in the reverse-cowgirl position, too. Does that mean they can't get off the "normal" way? Not exactly. It means they're not stiff *******s who just do what they're told and then make themselves feel better about their lack of independent thought by jealously railing against the folks who somehow manage to have enjoyable lives. | ||
