Default Those Games You Want To Get Over And Over Again- Gamecube

Let's start out simple. Every console has games (I hope). I'd classify them into five categories from worst to best: Games that you'd pay someone to play just for some stress relief, games that don't feel finished at all, games that are decent and you still see them for about $5 at Target, good games with a few flaws, and the truly great games. But there are games above those. These games are the timeless classics, that you'd get OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND... You get the point... AGAIN AS LONG AS THEY HAVE AT LEAST THE SLIGHTEST CHANGE. Final Fantasy, anyone? Anyways, this list will be about games we think are timeless classsics. After about a page or so of votes, I will:

1- Update each users favorites (e.g. Say lets say Jogurt The Yogurt says Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance, then I would list his name, and underneath that would be Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance). You can have as many classics as you want).
2- Update the group classics. To be a group classic, 10 people on this thread must have thought of the game as a timeless classic (e.g. Me and 9 other guys vote for Super Smash Bro. Melee, so I put it under group classics). Note that the # of votes required to make it a group classic is privy to change, depending on how many people are actually posting on this thread. This is to make the group classics a bit more balanced.

Also, I say games that you may want to get over and over again, but let's say it hasn't actually been released. Well... Pretend it has, and see if it's a good enough game to get twice. Some of these games may be rereleased as Game Cube masterpieces.

Anyways, without further... I WILL NOT say that word... I'll share the first classic (and currently only) of this thread.

Metroid Prime- This is such an awesome game; I still haven't beaten it (granted, I got it a month or two ago, and stopped playing it for a while since I got a new PS2, but nevertheless)! Anyways, this game (I think) has been slated for rerelease on Nintendo's Wii Game Cube Masterpieces sub series of games (woah, I would be out of breath if I actually said that aloud), and that will... SUCK! (if suck meant rock... If you don't get it, I mean THAT WILL ROCK!) Widescreen support and Wii controls would make it BAD ASS! And even if it wasn't rereleased here, it would still be awesome to be rereleased on any game system because... It's a Metroid game! ANd there has NEVER EVER EVER been a bad Metroid game! O.K. Maybe you dislike Return Of Samus or Prime Pinball, but they weren't bad games, they were pretty fun; they're no Metroid Prime, but does that make them bad games? I'm gonna leave you, since I'm getting a bit off topic here, so post the ones you like, and after a page or two, I'll start tallying up the votes (if there are... any).

Final Fantasy Tactics (original & PSP retranslation)
The Legend of Zelda (the original; I already own five versions of this game anyway)
Mega Man X (original, PSP remake, GCN & PS2 compilations)

I will think of more eventually.

Eh, I meant Gamecube games (that's why Gamecube is in the title).

So just to clarify, do you include The Legend Of Zelda Collector's Edition and Mega Man X Collection (coming from you, I've heard the original on Collectior's Edition didn't fare so well thanks to D-Pad problems, but I think (key kowrd- think) that you may (key word-may) pick Mega Man X Collection.

There are GameCube games that people want to play over and over again?

Hmm... Path of Radiance is the only one I can think of. Good prediction on your part. I would say go ahead and put me down for Collector's Edition, but I think that's cheating since those aren't GCN games.

Well, I wanted to start with a less contrversial subject first. Maybe I'll create one for the DS, as it has a lot of remakes, and many people are debating on getting them if they already have the origiaanl game. Or maybe I'll do the PSP, because I personally want to know what good PSP games to get, as the only ones I know of so far are Castlevania Dracual X Chronicles, the Mega Man remakes, Final Fantasy Tactics The War Of The Lions (Ha! Got it before you recommended it first ), and... other miscellaneous games.

There is a PSP recommendations thread you could bump.

But rereleases count, since these are games you want to get over and over again, no matter the system, so they fit in perfectly. So the games you've picked so far are Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance and The Legend Of Zelda Collector's Edition?

I know there is a PSP recommendation thread, but if I made said thread, it would be more on the topic of "Should I get War Of The Lions if I already have the original Tactics" rather than "War Of The Lions is a good game".

Sounds like a good question for the PSP recommendations thread.

Re: Zelda collection, sure, you can include that for me. I'm not totally sold on the three games that aren't the original, but the fact that the original is on there makes it a good replayable theng.

Ya, I wouldn't call Oricana/Majora one of these by themselves, not because they're bad games (which THEY'RE NOT), but it can be a lot to take in for a second time. But still, worth playing over again. I would have to say Link To The Past is VERY replayable, and Zelda 2 may be, but don't quote me on that.

I wish more than two people would post on this thread.

hi. whats a gamecube?

seriously? haven't played enough gamecube games yet. If I could get past level 2 of ikaruga i might be able to vote on that, but I would second zelda collectors edition. Its got majoras mask, which makes it epic win in my book.

Pretty much every Resident Evil game on GC (RE4 wii edition, RE on PS1, DS, and GC).

And Metal Gear Solid.

Oh, and a little game called Killer 7

I personally don't think this should be a gamecube thread but should be in the "Retro Games" section and include all generations of games. Sure, there would be a lot of posts, but I see no point in your little tally anyways so it wouldn't matter.

Also, I don't quite get what you are saying here: "Also, I say games that you may want to get over and over again, but let's say it hasn't actually been released." What do you mean? Games that look good enough to be really replayable but haven't come out yet? If that's true, then why is this thread about Gamecube games only? I'm a bit confused as to the goal of this thread...

For the confusion, I'll give you an example. Let's say someone put Super Mario Sunshine here. Well, it hasn't been rereleased, has it? When I said released, I really meant rereleased (typo, sorry).

This is what I think, too, which is why my first response included games from different generations & systems.

I'd buy Tales of Symphonia like ten times even if all they did was keep releasing new costumes and more titles with crazy requirements to get.

I replayed ToS several times just because I wanted to do all those things like not letting anyone die until like halfway through the game, or not switching Lloyd's weapon until ~10% through the game, or fighting a hundred battles on the hard difficulty... But once it was all over it was all over, and I want more.

Yea i feel the same way i liked the fact at the end of the game u could spend ur grade on different stuff making replayin it really fun. ToS is propally one of my favorite games so i cant wait for the ToS 2 to come out

I updated the first post, so be sure to check that out. Post if you see any mistakes. It appears there are no games that have been recommended 10 or more times yet (bummer!).

Anyways, many people have been questioning the point of this thread. Well, this thread is NOT about a game being good, go out and get it. This thread is about Game Cube games that are SO good, you can get the same game twice on the Game Cube AND the Play Station 2. Here are some of the games that I was thinking about over the course of this thread.

Alien Hominid- Anything keeping me from getting other versions of this game on other consoles?

Ikaruga- Does this game have enough replayability for me to get the Game Cube iteration AND the Dreamcast version (when I get a Dreamcast, but I WILL get one)?

The Legend Of Zelda Collector's Edition- Why should I get a compilation of 5 games when I can get better versions of them on the Virtual Console and the Nintendo 64 (which I actually own)?

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time/Master Quest- Should I get this rereleased game if I already own the original Ocarina Of Time?

Mega Man Anniversary Collection- Is this game a safe bet, or should I just get the original versions (or both)? Also, is the PS2 or the GC version more reliable?

Mega Man X Collection- Read above (Mega Man Anniversary Collection).

Resident Evil Series- I can get the original PSX games for 2/3 (or the N64 updates), and I can get 4 on the Wii. Why should I get any of the Game Cube versions (I can't really count 1 or Zero, as they are more of rereleases than rehashes/games that have been updated on other consoles)?

Sonic Gems Collection- Are there enough good Sonic games to warrant the purchase, or will all of the bad games in it leave a bad taste in my mouth (I'm looking at you, Game Gear Sonic games)?

Sonic Mega Collection- Is this any good?

Viewtiful Joe/Viewtiful Joe 2- The PS2 version has a bunch of awesome extra features, like a playable Dante, for example. Is this game good enough to get the Game Cube original and the PS2 rerelease, or should I just stick with the later?

The answer is yes if you liked the regular Ocarina of Time a lot. Master Quest is basically just a tougher version of the same game. People who've been able to beat the whole game with no problems, may get stuck in the Deku Tree! (although I didn't get stuck and I never beat the first game. Stupid Water Temple....)

Then I may get the game, IF I can find it at an affordable price.

Heh, I got it with my copy of The Wind Waker so I didn't have to worry about price.

Lucky; now I wish I preordered Wind Waker; oh wait, I only had a PS2 back then.

The Collector's Edition is a collector's item. It has a lot of value with potential to increase. It's worth getting now for having later.

Master Quest is different, and worth having. Also, like Collector's Edition, this is rare and will increase in value in 10-20 years.

Mega Man X Collection- Read above (Mega Man Anniversary Collection).
The PS2 versions are better. They're worth getting because it can be tough and expensive to get the 15 (or however many it is) games individually in their original formats.

I believe it's ten games on Mega Man Anniversary Collection and 7 on Mega Man X Collection, but I could be a bit off.
