Default Wind Waker Discussion {{Spoilers}}

That wasn't too surprising was it? That the final fight was Ganondorf.

Also, I really, REALLY want Aghanim in a WW like game (Phantom Hourglass) because he would look coo' in the WW style. Though, I do not see how it would work out since Aghanim revived the dead Ganondorf/Ganon and Ganondorf was not dead yet in Wind Waker and will not be until... some game that isn't out yet, even after Young Link stabbed him in the head.

Vaati would also look pretty awesome in a cel-shaded game, wouldn't he?

Tingle Island just creeped me out, you? I mean, why does Tingle have like, a group of slaves? (his brothers and that white-suited wanderer Tingle)

I only made it to the second dungeon =o

I just remember getting stuck on it and giving up, it's not the best of the series.

It still is very good though, like all Zelda games.

Awwwwwww windwaker was awwesome

i loved how you could just roam around the world on a boat.. and the graphics were gorgeous and cute... i love how the zelda series can get serious with the graphics like in tp though..

I completed it in the end...

but that island wich you can get to which showed you how your process in finding all the secrets was going i barely finished that bit at all! which makes me think that one day i will go back to it and give it another shot..!

Man, truth told, I only got to the fourth. But EVERYBODY knows that the final fight was Ganondorf now.

Wow, I was just about to come in here and start a thread about this.

I cracked open this again today, and I have to admit that despite LTTP and OOT having had more of an effect on me at their respective times, I might think WW is my personal favourite of the series. I haven't finished TP yet (at the Sky City), but WW was so completely immersive. You could get lost for hours just travelling between islands and looking for treasure maps.

Like all things, being forced to do so towards the end of the game wasn't much fun, the dungeons weren't as cerebral or integrated as any of the other games and there's not ebough of them, but I think the game as a whole stands as a stunning artistic achievement, whereas as great as TP is (and it is), there's a whiff of fanservice over the whole thing. Oh, and WW had a sense of humour, which I liked. I'll easily admit WW is not the best game in the series, but today, it's my favourite. Next week, who knows

Never had a 'Cube, so I never played WW, but my brother has it, so I'll borrow it when I've finished with Twilight Princess. I've always loved the look of WW though; that graphic style is amazing, and much more interesting, for me, than the "realism" of TP.

I'm getting going properly again in WW now, and I have to admit, I'm a bit dissapointed that a lot of the open-endedness of it was lost in Twilight Princess. Despite all the moaning about WW being so similar to Ocarina of Time, with hindsight it's a much bigger departure than TP ended up being.

Either way, I would love to see another Zelda game use this graphic style again (Phantom Hourglass excluded, I mean on a big console). Only game to rival this for artistic design were the two Jet Set Radio games. I'm reiterating what I said earlier, but this will never get old.

On a sidenote, anyone think it's possible for Nintendo to release patches to its previous games, the same way MS and Sony have been doing? I'd love to have Wiimote controls and aiming in this, though I know it'll never happen.

I have WW for my GC but never finished it. Now that I have a Wii can I use the Wiimote to play it or do I have to use the GC controller?

GC controller only, most likely.

In theory it's possible, but I doubt we'll see it happening.

I would love to see that happen but unfortunately like Kelvingreen says, I doubt it too. Playing the first two Metroid Prime games with the Wiimote and Nunchuck would be awesome! If it does happen one day, it would have to be after the last Gamecube game is released.

My favorite Zelda game, sucks it got stolen though.

Wind Waker is just great, I loved it so much, every time I played it I found something new. Also it's just so different from all of the other Zelda games, it's just so much better. I'm gonna re-buy it someday if I can find it. Bah but I don't have a GBA anymore so I wont be able to use the tingle thing.

But to be honest, I prefer roaming through the sea than running through a field. It gives a sense of mystery and exploration. It's like you never know what you'll find until you get out there. i also like collecting the sea maps, because you always need fish bait. But has anyone tired to beat the game without collecting the sea charts?

Also Wind Waker has more replayability than TP. I don't know why TP had nothing at the end.

Yeah, one of my mavourites too. The tediously long cutscenes and low difficulty of the game were it's only faults IMO, and I loved the art style.

Nice bump too btw; nearly a year. That's got to be a new record.

Thanks I work hard on my spelling and critical timing.

But wind waker doesn't even have long cut scenes. Twilight Princess has long cut scenes. And if you want short and easy gameplay, look no further than phantom hourglass. I'd say wind waker is in the middle of everything.

I like Wind Waker's art style, too. It can actually be surprisingly moody.

I was only joking; you spell fine

For some reason I said cutscenes, when I actually meant the sailing parts were tedious. Not sure how I confused the two.... They weren't as bad when you got all the warps, but there's a lot of sailing until then...

To be honest, I like to not use the warps. I like taking my time and sailing till I can sail no more. I only use the warps for when I'm doing timed side quests. But I'm a major wind waker fan, so i didn't mind the sailing. But for some reason Phantom hourglass always took longer to get around and it annoyed me. but the sailing is fun because you never know what you'll run into.
