| Top 10 VC Games Nomination Thread Link The goal of this thread should be obvious, but if you don't know, feel free to check out the link at the top. This is the second and final round of choosing the Gamecube games you like the most. You can vote for any of the games that are shown below, and can vote for 4 of the games. However, it isn't just that simple. You give the standard one vote for 3 of the 4 games, but one game gets a special "double vote". This means that one game you vote for will count as two votes. This is to give emphasis to what game you feel should be number 1 on the list, and which ones should just be in the Top 10. And one more thing! You should also write your reasoning for all of your votes. Was this game important to you? Did it steal away days of your life? Do you think it's a revolutionary game? Please be as detailed as you can. (because I'll be quoting what I feel are the most important lines in the video!) The voting period will go until possibly April 1st, but I may extend the deadline if I feel there weren't enough votes.....or I'm just not ready to make the video. After this voting period, there will be a video created by me detailing who the winners are. I will show gameplay footage of the 10 games and will read some of your reasons for why this game is one of the greatest on the GC. Hopefully you guys understood all that. In case I wasn't clear, here is a recap for what to do in this thread: -You vote for 4 games -One game must be chosen to receive a double vote -All 4 games must be from the list below -You should explain why you chose each game Alright, with that said, here are the games you can vote for (these are any games from the nomination thread that got 4 or more votes): Super Smash Bros. Melee The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Super Mario Sunshine Luigi's Mansion Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Metroid Prime Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Tales of Symphonia The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Animal Crossing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Pikmin SoulCalibur II Resident Evil Beyond Good & Evil F-Zero GX Pikmin 2 Resident Evil 4 Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Viewtiful Joe WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$! There, 22 games to choose from! That should be plenty. So, to give an example of what to do, here are my votes: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: ***DOUBLE VOTE GAME*** What a fantastic game. It serves as a terrific sequel to my favorite N64 game. The changes to the battle system were for the better, adding in an audience and giving your partners the ability to do things they couldn't before, like use items. Plus, having a great battle system makes one particular section of the game that has almost nothing but fighting a great deal more fun than it would have been had it been a normal turn-based RPG. The writing in this game was also nothing to skim over. This was a fun game to read. All of the parts involving Luigi's quests was like reading a parody of Mario's quests. Put all this together with goo d music, graphics, and characters, and you get the best game for the Nintendo Gamecube. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: What some people scoffed at when it was first revealed, this game is actually one of the best games the Gamecube has to offer and is a great addition to the Zelda series. The cell-shaded look ensures this game will not age for quite some time, still looking brilliant today. While the Wind Waker might not have been as compelling of a magical object as the Ocarina of Time, this game still had some great things to offer. I thought sailing was great fun. It felt like you had unlimited freedom, and while some didn't like it, I felt it was done very well. You really felt like you were sailing a big blue ocean. Also, some of the story ideas were cool as well, especially with what happens with Hyrule, which I won't spoil for those of you who have yet to play this game. All in all, a great game, only marred by a feeling of too few dungeons. Super Smash Bros. Melee: Melee is quite possibly the greatest sequel ever made. It took the original N64 game's idea, which took every major Nintendo character and pitted them against each other in battle, and gave it the fast paced combat we all know and love today. Not only could you unlock a massive amount of trophies, play on 29 stages (including ones from the original game), select 26 characters and play through an all new adventure mode, but up to 3 buddies could join you for one of the best multiplayer games of all time. This was THE game to get in the Gamecube's first year. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!: My last vote has to go for this game. While this is the black sheep, the "Zelda II" of the Mario Kart series, I feel this is the best the series has had to offer. Sure, there's no online multiplayer like in the DS and Wii versions, but this is some of the most fun local multiplayer I've ever had. I unlocked everything for this game two times on two different memory cards, I enjoyed this game so much. The handling felt right, the AI was at just that right level, and the items were powerful but not so much that you would lose the race due to a bit of bad luck. The characters and tracks in this game were also pretty great. And I have to say I'm kind of worried we may not see any tracks like we used to have since Mario Kart Wii made them all so wide to accommodate 12 players as opposed to 8. Well, here's hoping. If anyone has any questions or objections, please feel free to say so. Happy voting! EDIT: VOTING IS OVER! EXPECT THE TOP 10 VIDEO DETAILING THE WINNERS IN DETAIL NEXT MONTH. (JUNE)

| Do you like my helmet? | Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance — Double Vote — This game gets my double vote because it's one of the very few high quality RPGs on the GCN, and one of the only strategy RPGs on the system at all! It doesn't just fill a genre gap, though. It's also a top-notch game, with great plot, excellent characters, awesome gameplay, lots of ways to play (party configurations, difficulty modes, extra modes), GBA link support, etc. Along with the GBA games, this helped popularize the series in the west (we got a direct sequel on Wii and we got Ike in SSBB). The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess — The first truly lush, large-scale, epic Zelda game in 3D after a drab brown outing and a small world outing on the N64 and a turn to cartoons as a GCN predecessor. This game was big enough that it's had to serve Zelda fans as the latest entry in the series ever since, being ported to the Wii in order to hold us over until the next new game comes out later this year (2010). Lots to do. |

| Banzai Bill | Super Smash Bros. Melee (double vote), you'd be hard pressed to find someone that owns a GC, but has never played this game. So much to do, an excellent game mechanics, and a multiplayer mode that never gets old. Tales of Symphonia Awesome action-RPG, featuring a super long main game with tons of extra stuff to do as well. Great gameplay and an engaging story keep the game feeling great well beyond the ending. Soul Calibur II Awesome 1vs1, 3D fighter. Simple enough for a newbie to get into without having to revert to spamming immediately, but with plenty of depth. Excellent weapon master mode, and phenomenal presentation. | Lemmy Koopa | The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - (Double Vote) This was my first Legend of Zelda game, and it remains to be my favorite. The entire game was full of so many little secrects that were so satisfiying to unravel. This game was an explorers dream. You had this big map with nothing more than a few major islands on it, and it was up to you to complete this map. It was as if you actually found something new, something no one else knew of each time you found a new island. You then had to explore each island and the waters surrounding it, because you knew there was something to find. It's an experiance no other Zelda has offered. Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door - The best game in the Paper Mario series, and arguably one of my favorite RPGs. The story was top notch, and the game play was even better. It didn't matter how many times I played it, I always came back for more. Testing different party members and mastering each star technique never got old. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - This game might have taken a higher spot on the list, if I hadn't played Radiant Dawn first. It spoiled the story, and the gameplay. Radiant Dawn was my first game in the Fire Emblem series, so I learned everything I know from that game. So when it came down to Path of Radiance, I knew most of the little plot twists, and how to successfully out smart the computer, even on Hard Mode. But even after all of that, the game still shines with brilliance. It's support system added a great amount of depth to the game, not to mention a lot of replayability.

| Banzai Bill | F-Zero GX Sega's crowning achievement, they finally made something fast, while still being controllable. Tons of content, excellent racing action. Lots of courses weren't so great, and the music wasn't exceptional like X's, but it's still awesome. |

| Unfortunately, I haven't played a lot of GameCube games. So I can only vote for two games: Mario Kart Double Dash!! (Double Vote!) - This is my favorite game in the Mario Kart series. I felt this game had everything that I loved about Mario Kart and perfected the formula. I love choosing my two favorite characters and each with their own unique item. Also since I'm not a fan of playing online, I turn to local multiplayer and this was loads of fun to play with my friends and family! Tides basically took the words right out of my mouth when it comes to this game. Honestly, when I play Mario Kart Wii, it felt slower and it doesn't have that same effect that Mario Kart Double Dash!! had on me. Super Smash Bros. Melee - I never played Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, however I loved the commercials. And when I bought a GameCube, it was now my chance to finally get myself into the Super Smash Bros. Melee and see what the hype was about. Turns out this was a really fun game and it got me to enjoy the series. |

| Super Mario Sunshine My favourite 3D Mario. Metroid Prime One of the most immersive and atmospheric games I've played. Pikmin (original version, two votes) It's rare to have a game that's so different that works so well. I thought that Pikmin 2, by expanding it, lost a lot of what made the original so good. Pikmin was a one-off. Animal Crossing Couldn't choose between this and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, but SA2 was a Dreamcast game so I'll keep my GC votes for GC exclusives (and no pointing out the N64 version, thank you |

| Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (x2 Vote)- A very elegant game, with an evolved structure and gameplay mechanics from the past Fire Emblem games. It also has an amazingly balanced set of characters, which is very rare for a SRPG. Tales of Symphonia- When I first played this game, I was blown away by how fun and addicting it was. While the graphics haven't held up much, the gameplay and sheer massive quest does. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- An amazing Zelda game that was a swansong for the GameCube. Great gameplay heavily inspired by Ocarina Of Time evolved for the current era with some pretty graphics and nice music makes this a must play. Super Smash Bros. Melee- A great evolution of the classic Super Smash Bros., mixed with tons of extras and fan service. Of course, it's nowhere near as good as Brawl |

| Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Double Vote) I have to admit that when the first trailer for this aired I was shocked. Gone was the lush realistic Hyrule that we had all been led to expect and in its place was something that resembled a cartoon...and...well...we've all seen the Zelda Cartoon! Spending just five minutes playing the finished product, however, was enough to dispell any such fears. The Cell shaded world was simply stunning and for me beats hands down the supposed "realism" of something like Twighlight Princess. The huge open seascape and the various islands that could be chanced upon and explored added a renewed sense of vastness and discovery that harkened back to the series roots. There was also a wonderfully dark feel to the story that pefectly contrasted the games visual style. From the opening credits which offered an explanation as to the events post Majora's Mask, the hints as to the true nature of Tingle (later revealed in his own excellent game), to the general post apocalyptic feel of the flooded world to the final revelation of what had happened to Hyrule this was masterfully told stuff. The GBA linkup was well utilised and the game also provided players with some replay value in trying to complete the well implemented statue collection. All in all a superbly accomplished piece of work that, in my opinion, far outranks anything that has come from the franchise since.

| Metroid Prime (Double Vote) This was one of the first Metroid games I played. I was really impressed with the atmosphere of the game especially the detail of the level design in Tallon Overworld. Super Smash Bros. Melee When I first played this, I was really impressed with the amount you could unlock in single player and how greatly the fighting system was improved. This lasted me AGES. Not quite as good as Brawl, but still fun to play today. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker I love the art style of this game. Like most Zelda games, this is epic from the start to finish. Shame about the annoyance of getting the triforce charts translated for a high price and the lack of dungeons . Still one of the best Gamecube games though. Resident Evil Great game play with loads of replay value and tons to unlock. Beaten this 5-6 times back in the day. The only horror game I find creepy. This is also a perfect formula of how to create a remake. |

| Do you like my helmet? | I'll use my final two votes on: Pikmin & Pikmin 2 Compared to every other game on the hype list, these games actually have some really nice creative concepts. They're almost a new genre, and they were executed really well. They're accessible but they have depth. Part of my reason for voting for them is because, while there are other games that might be "better", I don't want those games to get votes because I prefer the games I voted for. |

| DOUBLE VOTE: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER WHY? Because it's the best Zelda game up to this day and what Betagam7 said, except I wasn't shocked by the graphics when Nintendo showed off first screenshots. I was pleasantly surprised (mostly about the many screaming crying kids and haters) I now could laugh at! From the first moment I was in awe! It felt like getting away from the "realistic N64 graphics" back to TRUE ZELDA GRAPHICS that I loved so much on the SNES and Game Boy! I beat Wind Waker 4 times. My latest save is a perfect 100% with all regular stuff maxed out (items, hearts etc.), but I also got good snapshots of every enemy, npc and boss in the game, so I have all woodcraft 3D-statues (that you can only get on a NewGame+). THEN I got all hidden golden Tingle figurines (that you can only access via the GBA/GamecubeLinkCable-connection) AND all of the other stuff (100% treasure chests opened, bought the most valuable Golden Statuettes and put them everywhere possible, AND all minigames won/unlocked) I spent more than 300 hours with that game. I love the feeling of freedom travelling the sea, the feeling of exploration when on the distant horizon a new island fades so smoothly in, the feeling of tension when storm, sharks, whirlwinds and rain lashing through the ocean, and the vividness and beautifulness of every pixel in the game. |

I might vote for some others but my problem would be that I don't really feel strongly about the games left over. Games like Viewtiful Joe and F-Zero were games I appreciated but which didn't woo me, meanwhile as much as I like BG&E it feels like a cheat to vote it in as its a multiplatform game and not really something defined by the Cube.

| Monty Mole | I can only vote for the games I've played. Most of the games I play for 1 or 2 hours a day, when I have the time to play them. As a result I'm not always able to finish a game due to losing feeling with the specific controls or forgetting where I was in a story and what I was supposed to do. Metroid Prime (double vote) This first 3D transition of the Metroid series was amazing. Although I've never finished this game, I replayed it a few times on the cube (and now on the Wii). Metroid Prime 2 wasn't as amazing as the first Prime. Beyond Good & Evil When I bought this game, I thought it would be a nice game for a bargain price. But to my surprise it turned out to be a great game (for a bargain price). The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Loved he 'cartoony' style of the game, which works pretty well and lives on in the DS Zelda games. Attaching a GBA to the GC for some handy extra's was a nice option. Luigi's Mansion Being one of the first GC games, I enjoyed playing this game. Despite being a short and easy game, I think it's worth a vote.

| I already doublevoted for THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER. I needed a few days to think about what the second best Gamecube game is... Now here's my fist standard vote: SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE It took me eight months to beat this game with 120 stars and it was worth it - not only for the giant amount of gameplay time alone. Every little secret in all the hidden corners of all those beautiful worlds, all these challenging passages and the clever puzzles that most people never lay their eyes on. This game was awesome and still is!! There was stuff hidden under sand, stuff hidden in windows, in the waters, the sewers, in boxes and even inside birds. Shooting and floating around with the water jetpack were just two of the best actions Mario ever learnt! You could do so much with it, it made everything so much more interactive!! Next to Wind Waker this was the defining Gamecube title! It introduced an original gameplay mechanic to the Gamecube Controller's new analogue shoulder buttons. It had never-seen-before graphic detail: realistic water physics, awesome heat effects, dust/sand particles, animated paint textures and all kinds of lensflare, mirror and transparency tricks. The music in all stages was odd at first but turned Mario-holiday-like pretty soon, it's a wonderful endorsement to the rest of Mario's soundtrack library and is great to listen to on its own. I compare this to the 3 days I needed to get Super Mario Galaxy's 120 stars and the 7 days to get New Super Mario Bros. Wii's 100% completion where gameplay time doesn't fit the price and the fun was over way too soon. Not so in Sunshine's eight months, which not only was the longest and best summer ever: 2003 what a great year! The game is fun and challenge filled with truckloads of secrets just like Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and Super Mario 64! For me it is the last truly outstanding Super Mario game and it's recommended for real gamers (not the annoying casual disgraces that turn the videogaming world into a wasteland of easy children games where the game plays itself for the watcher!) Where's the vomit smiley anyway? Last edited by SKTTR; 6th April 2010 at 08:47 AM. |

| 'Bout time I posted in this thread... My double vote has to go to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I was going to give this to Melee, originally, since it was an absolutely amazing game, but PoR proved a little better. It was the first game I had played from the series and the first SRPG I had ever played. I think in the year I got it, I played through it three or four times before I had got enough of it. With a great story, interesting characters, and some of the most addictive gameplay in any game to date, PoR proved to be one of the best games on the Cube. One vote goes to Super Smash Bros. Melee. This game expanded on the N64 version and still is one of my favorite games today, even more so than Brawl (even if it's superior, Melee just appealed to me longer and overall left me more blown away than Brawl). Another vote goes to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I think it was the first Zelda game I ever played through, start to finish. It didn't quite have the replayability of PoR or Melee, but it was an absolutely amazing experience with an interesting story, fun dungeons, and the biggest Zelda world I've ever seen. I'll think of one more vote for later... |

| Mega mole | Alright, here goes: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Double vote) - Besides the obvious (looks at username), this game was the best the GCN had to offer. It was a classic Zelda adventure, sure, but the new look and the mode of travel, what was there not to like? I have sunk numerous hours into this game (which I still haven't beaten), but every time I start over, I don't regret it. Definitely should go down in the history books as a true classic. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - Good, wholesome, family fun. The loads of time I've spent with this game with my wife and four kids is time I would not trade for anything. Trash talking was always fun, too. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Although this game was a better overall experience on the Wii, the GCN version was my first play-through of this amazing game. Outstanding graphics, great gameplay (of course), and a very compelling story made this one of the better Zelda games out there. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - The first Paper Mario was an outstanding game. This sequel took that winning formula and made it better. The story lacks the luster of the first title, but the gameplay was improved upon tremendously. Flying as a plane is still one of my most memorable experiences. |

| Mega mole | Too many games that distract me from finishing these games. I can't for the life of me figure out why. Twilight Princess I was able to play all the way through before I picked up another game. Ocarina is my Achille's Heel and Wind Waker is mainly because I'm too lazy to switch my Wii over to play GCN games (changing out the disc, plugging in Wavebird, memory card, etc.). The last time I played Ocarina, I got halfway through the Spirit Temple (for the third time) and got sidetracked by Tales of Monkey Island series. At least that's an improvement, because I used to always stop after completing the Water Temple (7 times at present). As of right now, I may have to start over again on Ocarina because I don't have a clue what I was in the middle of doing (also for the third time) |
