Default Top 10 GC Games Nomination Thread

Alright, so I think most of you remember back in June when I created the Top 10 VC Games Nomination Thread. Since I feel that the entire process from nomination to final results turned out quite well, we should give this thing a try with some other system. This time, it's the Nintendo Gamecube. The plan is to make a video detailing what people (you) generally believe to be the best games ever released for the Gamecube. You can nominate any games you want, and almost as many games as you want. The maximum number of games you can nominate is 25. (note: I'm a bit split on whether to include ports such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and collections such as Mega Man Anniversary Collection. For now, I will include them as I'm going for a broader approach of best games to own rather than best games made for Gamecube. If there is a general consensus that says otherwise, I am willing to change this.) The nominations will go until probably March 19th, possibly the 26th, or even longer if there are few nominations.

After this nomination period, there will be a new thread created for the voting. I will display the list of the games most nominated (most likely the ones with 6 or more votes) from this current thread and people will vote for 4 games and then state why for each game. (here is what the VC one looked like) When that's all over, a video will be made featuring you guys and the top 10 most well-liked games. (the VC one is here). Of course, none of that really matters right now.

Here's a recap of what you need in this thread:
-You can nominate up to 25 games
-You can post as many times as you want before the deadline but you can vote for each game only once.

-The deadline for nominations is tentatively March 19th.

Alright, with that said, here are the games I nominate:
-Super Smash Bros. Melee
-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
-Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
-Animal Crossing
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest
-Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
-Kirby Air Ride
-NARUTO -ナルト- 激闘忍者大戦!4 (NARUTO: Gekitō Ninja Taisen! 4)
-SoulCalibur II
-Star Fox Assault
-Tales of Symphonia
-Super Monkey Ball 2
-Pokémon Colloseum
-Mega Man Anniversary Collection
-Luigi's Mansion
-WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!
-007: Nightfire
-The Simpsons: Hit & Run
-Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
-The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Super Monkey Ball

As you can see, I've nominated 22 games, but you can vote for fewer games or more games if you want. I may add the last 3 I'm allowed at some other point.

Note: Please DO NOT edit your old posts. I will not look at any changes you make. Please make a new post with any changes if you have any.

If anyone has any questions or objections, please feel free to say so. Happy nominating!

I only nominate these, because I give my vote to them:

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
2. Super Mario Sunshine
3. Chibi-Robo!
4. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
5. The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition

Just for the record, the next five follow-ups were:

6. Pikmin 2
7. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
8. F-Zero GX
9. Soul Calibur II
10. Resident Evil 4

Since Pikmin 2 and Resident Evil 4 are available as superior Wii Remakes,
I could remove them and add my #11 and #12:

11. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
12. killer7

Unfortunately many great games are missing here, but that's the curse of a top 10.

I haven't added The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess because I have only the Wii version, which I think is the definite version. It definately would rank up in my Gamecube Top 10 somewhere if I had it in my collection. But I think it's better to be counted and voted for as a Wii game, so more good Gamecube games have a chance to get up on the ladder.

So wait, do you only want the first 5 included for nomination votes? Or should I include the next 7 as well? I don't want to really decide for you since the goal right now is to just bring to the next round games that people are all generally likely to vote for. I guess it could be thought of this being an election and the next round being a run-off with only the top few being eligible for your votes.

Oh...k. Then I nominate all 12 games I listed. And I vote for.... uh...
If this is like last time, only having 3 normal votes and one double vote,
my double vote goes for my #1 and the 3 normal votes go to my #2, #3, and #4.

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Double Vote
2. Super Mario Sunshine
3. Chibi-Robo!
4. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Ah, sorry, maybe I worded things poorly, but please hold your final votes until the nomination process is over. That step will be in a new thread so you're done here.

It's lame that Doshin the Giant and Cubivore somehow made each other region-exclusive.

Doshin would work so well as a NPC rerelease. Raising and lowering the land would feel so natural with motion control.

I hope this happens. Actually, I hope any more NPC games come. North America still hasn't gotten Pikmin 2 and it'd be really nice to get it since the GC original is pretty expensive for an old Gamecube game.

Tales Of Symphonia
Super Smash Bros. Melee

I'd say the gap between them and the other games is wide enough to warrent not listing anymore.

Actually I'll let Soul Calibur II just slip through.

hyuuuhhh.. raising and lowering the land was quite sensible with the X- and Y-buttons on the Gamecube Controller.
Now changing a good control method to Wii's motion controls doesn't seem to make anything better,
you know, like "Slap Wii controls on that old game so we can re-release it."
I don't see any benefit, can't imagine how it's supposed to feel natural/better.
If you'd elaborate, maybe then I can see why you think it would feel more natural.

He didn't imply that it would feel better. Just that it would feel good. Probably as an excuse/justification to give the game a remake and get it into the greedy paws of a ton of players who didn't get the chance to play the game when it was originally released.

Yes, as an justification... That I can see.

Many ideas sound good on paper but I couldn't imagine it feeling good.
It's like when I thought it would be a good idea to swing the Wiimote to make Doshin throw a fireball, but I screwed that idea because it would do too much unwanted damage.

Well, to make Doshin really benefit from Wii controls, I suggest additional classic point&click controls just like they did with NPC Chibi-Robo! I think that would work.

Okay, the Nunchuk controls the Giant, makes him walk jump etc, then with the Wiimote there is a pointer that allows you to click on various parts of the land. Once clicked on you can lower or raise the land simply by lowering or raising the Wiimote. I think it should allow for some more intuitive and precise lowering, raising than using the buttons and having to stand the giant over the part in question. the pointer could also be used to highlight particular villagers, temples, huts etc that you wanted the evil Giant to fireball.

No silly tacked on swinging actions involved, just more precise gameplay.

I never played much on my GameCube thus my list is pretty paltry:

Mario Kart Double Dash!!
Super Smash Bros. Melee

There are some games I have never played that I would love to include on the list [Pikmin 2, Baten Kaitos, etc.], but I would like to have a proper opinion and play through them first.

Whoah, it's a good thing I looked at your post again because otherwise that wouldn't have made it into the list. Unless it's been like 30 seconds, I'd rather you double-post than edit. I'm actually updating my Excel sheet of this quite often (unlike a certain other list I'm supposed to keep track of *coughnotn64cough*).

Yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't sure if I should have edited it or not. When I looked back I saw it was missing and I was like "O DAM". Keep forgetting I like it, too, since it was stolen a while ago.
